January 6, 2010 Word getting around and coming from as far away as Bunbury is Ian Cartledge could play Premier League with the Doggies within a week or two.
Ian was down to play for the Doggies at the start of the season but it never eventuated
He has played the State Triples semi-final a couple of seasons back to give an indication of his talent
If this rumour is correct he will add something to the list and would be a valuable player to have in the 16
November 4, 2009 FACT
The first player to switch clubs after starting the season at another club is Osborne Park's Bruce Fullagar who played last saturday in the opening round against Bassendean. Bruce has returned to his previous Club Bedford.
This is a valuable gain for the Bulls in their fight to return to One White next season
October 29, 2009
With three days to go before the new season starts we hear that Stirling's Mick Marovic has gone to Dalkeith Nedlands.
This is extra good news for the Silvertails who after a huge player loss at the end of last season when the side was demoted will welcome him with open arms.
It will be a tough ask for the Silvertails to stay in One White but with the arrival of Mick they just might avoid demotion.
Mick has played for sometime at Stirling and been a valuable player for them
October 26, 2009
Former State Leader and Doubleview player Bruce Urquhart signed with Morley Mavericks . This is a great signature to have and to come at this stage of the season will give the Mavericks a lift.
Bruce played at Doubleview for many seasons and was very highly thought of as a person and a player
Bruce will join up with his Dad Bill and brother Robbie who have been at Morley for a number of years.
Also another to come on board for the Mavericks is Ian White who is a past President of the Melville Bowling Club

There has been much speculation concerning Mosman Park player Brad Ball. There has been a lot of gossip as to whether or not he was staying at the club.
There was an unsavory incident concerning he and Steve Withers which has led Brad to part company with Mosman Park right on the eve of the new pennant season. He would have loved to have stayed at Mosman Park, Brad tried to resolve the issue but was unable to do so
So it was that he decided to return to his first Club the Kardinya Kats,
who at last can say with confidence they they have now got BALLS!
With his father Norm and uncle Terry who are both at the club, they should have a ball helping Kardinya to win promotion to the Premier League
While there was uncertainty about Brad's availabilty for Mosman taking place, he was approached by four Premier League Clubs to play for them, such is the regard in which he is held
Brad has been humbled by the support he has been given by the bowling world
in this awkward time. Making a decision where to play was very difficult
While it is true that he is not the best player in W.A One thing you get with Brad is he is a great clubman who gives his all to the cause.
October 20, 2009
Bassendean Lions have steadily built up their side after last seasons disappointing effort in the Grand Final. They were exposed somewhat by a brilliant Kardinya Kats.
They have added another good player to their already impressive list of recruits.
Steve Wattleworth has joined the Club. He last played in the Premier League as a leader for Daniel Trewhella in Osborne Park's losing Grand final game in 2007.
If he can capture his best form he will be an asset
David Rhodes from Midland Morrison has also joined the club
October 20, 2009
Yokine have lost another player from their list, Steve Sloan has returned to Corrigin to play.
The Doggies have lost quite a few players from last seasons side and it will be interesting to see how this will affect the Doggies chances
October 15, 2009
Cockburn Roosters have been hit hard with player losses this season have started the long haul back by recruiting Melville's Steve Hughes.
While this is a handy result for Cockburn it will hit the Melville Magic pretty hard, The Magic who have been a hugh profile club since Adam was a boy will now almost certainly have a fight on their hands to stay in One Blue.
Steve has been a stalwart in Melville's 1st team for many years will enjoy the new challenge playing for Cockburn
October 15, 2009
The very popular Ken Monkhouse will be playing at Armadale this season, it was originally thought he would line up with the Bayswater Wolves.
Ken is a very experienced player and will be a very good addition to Armadale
16 but there is more to Ken than just being a player, he also has excellent admiinistrative skills.
Peter Collins has moved from Scarborough and will play for Dalkeith while Ken Parks has returned to Rockingham.
October 14, 2009
Mitch Biglin who had joined Osborne Park a couple of months back has had a change of heart and returned to play at Kalamunda this season.
Originally he had left the Tigers and after being courted by a couple of Clubs he finally decided to join the powerful Osborne Park Saints and seemed to be settling in quite well. He would probably have been allocated a second's role in the Premier League side but will now resume his skippers berth at Kalamunda.
Another to join the Tigers after resisting offers from other clubs was Scotty Walker who left Premier League side the Sth Perth Millers, these two players will certainly be of great assistance to the Tigers who will be keen to win the place they lost last season after being demoted from the Premier League
October 14, 2009
Chris Hickman or Ninja, as most people know him as has left the Yokine kennel and joined Doubleview.
Chris lead for most of the year and did an excellent job for the Doggies, he ended the year playing as a 3.
I am not sure if he can crack a game with DV in the opening game but might do so later as they become more aware of his ability
Rod Rewko, another Doggie has also joined DV but will be available to play only every second week.
Two good players for DV and a loss for the Doggies particularly Chris who was coming along in leaps and bounds
October 14, 2009
We have seen the arrival of several new and returning members to the Gossies Kookaburras.
Last season the mighty Kookaburra's just survived the cut to be demoted after some very big wins in the last 6/7 games, without those wins it was all over Red Rover and down to second division where they might never have won promotion back to first division for some time.
Since last year Gosnells has recruited and welcomed back several members they include - Hugh and Kevin McKay - Mick Hansen - "Diamond" Jim McKenzie - Chris Jones - Colin Hickinbotham - Trevor Simons - Bert Cruickshank - Alan Neesan - Les Cavall - Chris Potter - Brian Billi - Mal Stokes - Richard Bartell and Fred Cappadona.
Whilst they aren't all Dennis Katunarich's they are all great club men and some of them bring more than just hospitality to a club that is on the verge of being "BORN AGAIN".
The Gosnells Kookaburra's are looking at the coming season with great confidence and will settle for nothing less than promotion for the top couple of sides and an even better showing for other divisions.
This club has never looked better and the attitude is to die for so look out here they come.
October 13, 2009
Cambridge Bowling Club have won themselves the signature of one of the best Country bowlers in W.A.
Brian Calthorpe who comes from Cunderdin has signed for the coming season.
Brian played a huge game as a three in the final of the 2004 State fours and earlier this year he again played as a three
in the winning Country week fours with Maurice Crameri.
Cambridge have certainly got themselves a first class recruit for season 2009/10
October 12, 2009
Norm Ball has returned to Kardinya after many years away.
Kardinya is delighted to have Norm back on board. His presence will add even greater strength and depth to the Kat's.

FACT
October 10, 2009 Mike Nilson has joined the Yokine Doggies from the Murray Districts League where he was one of the successful skippers that steered the South West to their Inter round robin win last season.
Mike comes with a great reputation having represented Zimbabwe in the Worlds Bowls Championship in Johannesburg SA in 2000. Mike will certainly provide depth in the back end for the Doggies in 2009/10.
Mike Gittins has also joined the Doggies for season 2009.10 traveling up from mandurah each week. Mike has represented Melville and Scarborough in 1 Red and gosnells in 1 white. Mike will provide great stability in either a lead or second for the doggies this season

Big news for the One White division Bassendean Lions as they welcome the return of Daniel Patterson from Victoria Park.
Daniel has played the last two seasons with Vic Park who were runner up in last years Grand Final.
19 year old Daniel who is a State squad member, said he wanted to return to Bassendean to be with his Dad and brother and to play with Steve Black and Justin Opie for whom he has the greatest of respect.
He added he would like to play up the line and get away from leading or playing two so it appears that will happen at Bassendean .
Daniel made a huge impression as a 15 year old when he skippered Phil Hutchinson and Wayne Smythe into the semi-finals of the State Triples
This move by Daniel who will most certainly have the eye of Tiger, (Lion) will be good for Bassendean who are in need of adding strength to the team if they are to be a chance of winning promotion to the Premier League
Already added to the Lions side are State Singles champ Brian Axford, Kevin Gray who has transferred from Quinn's Rock and a new young bowler who has played Premier League in Victoria, Darren Rowland, their chances are looking so much better.

The Hilton Hawks are still hurting over their relegation from 1 White last year and have aggressively recruited over the off season. As many as 8 new players may line up in the top side for Hilton.
Already signed are Lance Strahan, Daniel Wood and New Zealand provincial player Adam Haywood.
No doubt two of these players, Lance Strahan and Daniel
Wood will have a huge impact on the fortunes of the Hilton Hawks this season.
At their best they are two terrific players who have proved their mettle in the past and no doubt will take the challenge to drive the Hilton Hawks to the finals and possible promotion to One White
Watch this space for more news from "The Hilton".

We have as correction to make with a rumour regarding Dalkeith player Tony "Gypsy" Skoric. We were informed by a most reliable source that Tony was Stirling bound around three weeks ago.
We have since been informed that Tony is staying put at Dalkeith for season 2009/10
September 23, 2009
We have since been informed that Joe Spadaro will be playing with Cockburn and Silvio Vassalo is also returning to play for Cockburn this season.
September 23, 2009
Some talk surfaced this week about a possible move by Joe Spadaro to play for Cockburn, at this stage we can only treat it is a rumour.

FACT
We have received word that Adrian "Pebbles" Durrant is to play for the Sth Millers this coming season.
This move follows the move of Paul harris to Sth Perth Yesterday.
Pebbles showed he can mix it with the best of them after seeing him first hand in the State Triples where he was a member of the side that finished third.
The other time was a stellar performance against Osborne Park in a pennant game.
This again is a loss to Yokine who have now lost three of last years side that came from the brink
to stave off relegation to the Millers.
Not sure if I would like to be a selector at Sth Perth, there is a heavy influx of players to the club that finished 4th
last season. It is going to be a hard time ahead for them to select who is in and who is out of opening 16 that takes to the greens.
The One Blue North side
should be extra strong this season
September 16, 2009
The Sth Perth Millers have added Paul Harris to their list for the upcoming season.
Paul Played for the Yokine Doggies last season, I know very little of Paul but the Millers are delighted to have him in their ranks.
The loss of Paul Harris has only added to the loss of quite a few players from the Doggies.
Gone are Scotty Edmonds, John Carter, Rodney Rewko and Eddie Dodd. there are others who might not be available for varying reasons.
Meanwhile the Millers have really built up their list and one can imagine how hard it will be to make the final 16 to play in the first game
of the season.
September 15, 2009
The Stirling Bowling club have gained two new players, both played for Dalkeith last season. Peter "Kooka" Maynard and the "Gypsy" Tony Skoric.
Over all this should make the front end pretty solid especially with Kooka playing lead, a role he plays very well. Tony Skoric would most likely play 2 or three. The skippers for Stirling will be the Krajancic Brothers Marko and Tony, Neville Stevens and new recruit Shane Knott.
From here it is all systems go as Stirling push
for a place in the Premier League, it would surprise if Stirling don't achieve their goal this season..
September 13, 2009
A rumour has surfaced concerning State Skipper Jon Sharp, he will not be on the plane to Adelaide, rumour has it that Jon will not be available.
Time off work plus travel costs up and back from Albany for training purposes, then the burden of having the extra cost of having to pay $450. 00 to be a State squad and team member are possible reasons for Jon not being unable to participate
This is a a huge blow to W.A's chances of winning the Alley Shield. It is a shame that BowlsWA can't find a way forward to make sure that we can have our best players represent the State.
Jon missed the series in Canberra after the brilliant display at Osborne Park in 2008 when he won the Alan Eddy Medal.
Jon Sharp is very well respected
in bowling community and a great leader of people who can get the best out of all who play for him
September 2, 2009
An interesting signature for Stirling, Shane Knott is still a work in progress. and being as young as he is Shane can only keep improving. The young fellah already has some runs on the board and is sure to be what Stirling are looking for as they prepare to build their side up and make another charge at winning promotion from One White to the Premier League.

RUMOUR
A keen observer noticed a well credentialed Victoria Park player in a long and meaningful discussion with the Stirling Big Chief, Allan "The Emperor" Erceg into the later hours following the Stirling carnival on Sunday. Watch this space!!
August 31, 2009
RUMOUR
We have heard a rumour on the grapevine that Doubleview's Kyle McIlroy is to become team coordinator for the Paradise Point Bowling Club in Queensland.
We are treating this as a rumour unless we hear otherwise .
August 25, 2009 FACT
Mosman Park have signed Matty Ellul who played for Sth Perth Millers last season.
This is as good as it gets for Mosman to win the signature of one the best skippers in W.A. Matt was a super player for Sth Perth and his efforts were the main reason that the Millers made the finals last season.
This puts a whole new dynamic for Mosman who already were looking good without Matt in the lineup.
A great lineup of skips,
John Rainoldi, Daniel Brown, Steve Withers and Matt Ellul, this group will go with the best of them and a bit more.
With the earlier signings of Robert Paxman, Brian Katunarich and Mick McGann on top of a top notch group of players who played their part in helping win the promotion it could be a bumper year for Mosman Pk
Sad to hear that Lester Mortimer won't be playing in the new season, Lester was highly regarded at the club, he is a great bloke a skilful player who was always hard to beat. Hopefully he will be back the following season
August 21, 2009
We have now recieved word that Scott Edmonds is now an Osborne Park Saint.
Scott himself confirmed to me that the rumour was no longer a rumour.
It is a good move for Osborne Park to have signed up last seasons Rosenthal Medallist.
Scott has previously been a member at Osborne Park and is looking forward to returning to the club.
With State duties in October
it will be a good build up for Scott for the upcoming new season and to be a part of a well managed club and a great bunch of disciplined players who have been at the forefront of bowls over the past three seasons this will no doubt add further to Scott's growing statue in the game.
The signing of Scott and Mitch Biglin will help to overcome he loss of Pat Caffell and perhaps Gary Caffell who we are not certain of when Gary will return due the the nature of his injury.
For Yokine this is a blow of huge proportions a especially after the spirited fight back from almost certain relegation.
The Doggies were buoyed by the signing of Russell Hughes earlier and followed recently by Sean Wright but they have lost Jamie O`Keefe, John Carter and Now Scotty Edmonds from last seasons lineup
Yokine are also a very well managed club that has great greens to play on will have a little time left to see what they might come up with from here
August 21, 2009
A rumour is circulating that the 2009 Rosenthal Medallist and Yokine Doggie Scott Edmonds is to leave the Kennel and become a Saint for the upcoming season.
If the rumour is correct
it would fit into Osborne Park's plans nicely because of uncertainty over the availability of Gary Caffell who might not be available to play till Xmas and to also fill the gap left by Pat Caffell who is away on a trip around Australia, Pat may not be back for another year or two.
Yokine will feel this loss somewhat after their brilliant finish to last season to avoid relegation.
At this stage is a rumour and we hope to confirm what the facts might be later on today.
August 20, 2009
Earlier in the off season we reported that South Perth Premier League player Glenn Pauling was going to play the 2009-10 season with the demoted Kalamunda Tigers
Glen has had a change of heart after taking into consideration the amount of travel required from the Western suburbs to play at Kalamunda.
The decision to stay with Sth Perth is a very positive one for Glenn who has returned to bowls last season after a 10 year layoff.
Glenn
has much to offer and played his part for the Millers who made the finals in their second year back in the bigtime.
The Millers are looking good, particularly after snapping up two skippers, something they have been in desperate need of if they are to progress further
.
August 13, 2009
We have news at last concerning the Morley Mavericks, they have been fairly quite as far as recruiting goes, they have been trying to extend their list without much success until now.
Murray Hulbert a leader for Wanneroo will join the club for the up coming season. Having seen Murray first hand last season where he played a good game against Cambridge
as a leader this is a good signature for Morley.
Murray has plenty of experience as a Premier League player over the years and will do well for the Morley Mavericks in any position.
Morley were the best side in One White
capping it off with the Premiership Flag after defeating Mosman Park. A great effort from them.
We saw how Dalkeith the previous One White winner went playing in the Premier League last season, straight in and straight out.
Morley would be aware of what awaits them this season so lets hope the club can build on the recruitment of Murray Hulbert
August 13, 2009
Yokine Doggies have got themselves a good recruit.
Sean Wright, a premiership player for Wanneroo in 2006 has joined the Yokine Doggies for the new season.
Sean has shown in the past his value to the Wanneroo Express but was only able to play a game or two this past season due to a late start caused by working commitments.
Sean lives but a couple of rinks away from the home of the Doggies and it makes sense to cut the travel down somewhat. Sean
would most likely lead or play second, he plays both positions well
This is a good pickup for Yokine, who have done extra well with the recruitment of Russell Hughes and now Sean Wright.
August 7, 2009 Word is Lance Strahan has joined Hilton Park for season 2009/10.
Lance didn't play last season after deciding to take a break from the game.
He played for Cockburn in 2007/8 and was their best performed skipper with 12/3 + 59 shots, an impressive stat sheet.
Lance was chosen to participate in the State squad the following season
but decided to take a break from the game.
There would have been a couple of Premier League clubs hoping to gain his services this season but Lance has decided that Hilton who are now in One Blue is the club for him.
If Lance plays to his ability, Hilton are a chance to force their way back into One White

The word is out and about, Mitch Biglin has left the Kalamunda Tigers and landed at the Osborne Park Saints.
It has been a a bit of a journey going by the rumour mill, firstly we heard that he might play at Cambridge with good friend Trystan Smallacombe, things went quite until another rumour got underway that Mitch could be on the Yokine Doggies books.
Finally the rumour mill ended with him joining the Saints, last friday we hear. Mitch hasn't set the world on fire as a skipper at Kalamunda with a 6/10/1 - 16 this past season but he has set the world on fire with an outstanding leaders display when he won the State Triples, which has since been rewarded with a place in the State squad.
He also won the Rising Star award at BowlsWA night back in May. Being as young as he is he can only get better as a player and a good future awaits him
It will be interesting to see where he plays
in the OP side, one thing he will love, is the quality of Osborne Park grass which will allow him to play at his best.
FACT July 29, 2009
Mosman Park have recruited an International Bowler to the club for the up coming season. Robert Paxton hails from England and only 28 years of age is a very highly credentialed player, below is a list of his accomplishments.
Ranked 25 in the world.
National Singles r/up. National u/25 singles winner.
World Singles semi finalist.
International open quarter finalist.
played 5 seasons in the England u/25 team.
represented England versus Jersey, Australia.
County (similar to state) player since 1997.
7 county titles.
Robert Paxman represents terrific value for Mosman Park, with a playing record such as his is testament to to his skills, to make the National side in a country such as England is no easy task.
It really comes down to how quickly Robert will adjust to Perth's windy condition (Perth is the 4th windiest Capitol city in the world) and fast greens.
Young Robbie Tiller didn't take long to come to terms with Perth conditions so he will be of some assistance to Robert in this area
None the less this is a huge win for Mosman Park who are sure to do well coming back in the bigtime for the first time in living memory, have recruited a few good players onto the list since last season.
With Daniel Brown, Robert Paxman, Brian Katunarich and Mick McGann already on the books, the side has a better look already, some rumours have been around that possibly a couple of Dalkeith players might be heading up river to Mosman, but they are only rumours at this stage.
FACT
July 28, 2009
It is a done deal that Marko Krajancic will line up at Stirling One White this coming season. Stirling have gone about getting the right man if they want to win promotion to the Premier League, his recruitment will almost make a certainty of it.
Marko's playing record over the journey shows how hard he is to beat in a game of pennants. Without doubt Marko is one of the most skilled bowlers to have ever played in W.A
and will make a huge difference to Stirling
It will be interesting to see if there are any other recruits in the wind for season 200/10. The only loss that we are aware of is Adi Mayer who has returned to Bedford.
Dalkeith will feel the loss of Marko somewhat, combined with several other players leaving the club such as John Morgan, Vaughan Colley, Willie Tan, Ross Mitchell, Vinny Santostefano, Tom Williams, Mark Lindsay, Luke Richardson, Jesse Brown, Steve Back, Peter Maynard, Tony Skoric and others
Dalkeith have suffered like many a Premier League Clubs before them that when they win their way into the league plenty of players come from everywhere and when they lose their place we see a many departures. It would seem Dalkeith will struggle to hold in One White
July 27, 2009
A huge rumour getting around the place is that concerning Stirling Bowling Club and Dalkeith/Nedlands Captain/Coach Marko Krajancic. The word is the big fellah has signed up with Stirling.
I haven't been able to confirm if it has actually occurred. However the rumour has come from reliable sources but we will wait and see if this rumour definitely has legs then comment on the situation.
FACT
July 27, 2009
Just when one might think the momentum with player recruitment might have come to a halt for the Sth Perth Millers they have come up with another good quality player.
Joe Galipo who has played for Cockburn for several years, many of those years he has been filling in as a Mr Fixit role playing different positions on a lot of occasions over the years, has joined up to play for the Millers in season 2009/10.
Those who saw Joe play in the final of the State Fours playing as a second would have been impressed with the game he played for his side.
In extremely difficult conditions his bowls played a large role in his sides performance.
It will be an interesting exercise to see how the Millers line up their 16 in the opening game for the season.
All in all, on paper the Millers are looking a little stronger and have good reason to feel a bit excited about the upcoming season
Meanwhile Cockburn are in bother with their playing list when we see the likes of Gary Carberry, Daniel Brown, Joe Galipo, John and Matty Trewhella and Alf Jones all departing the Cockburn scene.
There is still someway to go before the season starts and it will be interesting to see what Cockburn can do to rebuild their list, The Roosters have always managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat in the past, can they do it again ?
FACT
July 25, 2009
"Diamond" Jim McKenzie who played at Thornlie for several seasons has joined up with Gosnells for the new season. Jim was pursued by several Premier League Clubs since the end of last season such is the regard he is held in not only by those trying to convince him to join their club but by people generally in the bowling community.
Jim has several credits as a bowler with his name on many a trophy at the top level. There is more to come yet one would tend to think.
The architect and innovator of the very successful Seniors program is the most important step taken in the continued growth of the game which has breathed new life into the sport for many bowlers.
Gosnells have been on struggle street in pennants and only just survived to stay in One Blue last season will be buoyed by his decision and it will give the club some impetus to not only survive but push hard to regain a place in One White
Jim not only is a top notcher on the bowling field but he is a top notcher off it Gosnells have won themselves more than just a player they have a quality person at the same time.
July 22, 2009
We have received word that John and Matt Trewhella will play for Cambridge this coming season. This is very timely happening for the Knights who have lost a lot of players.
There were many rumours concerning John and Matt as to where they might play this year.
The first was the boys would play at Stirling, things then went quite for a while, rumours surfaced once again and it looked likely they would stay at Cockburn who have also taken a few hits with players moving onto other clubs.
Cambridge will make John and Matt more than welcome and will breath a sigh of relief that this latest recruitment will bolster their flagging hopes for the upcoming season.
Other news we hear apart from the losses already mentioned is the possibility that David Opie might not be able to play but we will have to wait for further confirmation regarding that issue
July 21, 2009
More news from Sth Perth, The Millers have really got themselves onto the front foot with an aggressive recruitment policy that has netted them Mark Pasalich.
Mark has had a parting of the ways
from Striling when we noticed him become unavailable to play for them toward the end of last season.
Sth Perth are in much need of good capable skippers, in the past Mark has shown how completive he is, he left Stirling with a 11 win 4 loss record with a 106 shots up
Naturally the competition will be much tougher in the Premier League but Mark should be able to measure up having played many games previously.
His experience on carpet will be a bonus for the Millers
After losing Scott Walker, Steve Lunn, Glenn Pauling, the Millers
have covered these losses fairly well with the recruitment of Travis Vallance, Vinny Santostefano, Mark Pasalich and John Carter. This combined with their latest recruitment of young players will have the Club up and about when the season starts
FACT
July 17, 2009
The South Perth Millers are very excited to have signed three emerging players.
Cameron Kerr, Tyrone Alberti and Ryan Havercroft have all signed for the Millers after playing in the Leeming One White side last season.
All of the lads are in their 20s and provide a great blend for the more experienced players in the Millers line up. It is expected they will push hard for a place in the top 16 this season.
In addition the Club will use the services of State Coach Brian Jeppeson in the lead up to the season following the successful use of Lindsay Thorn in that capacity last year.
FACT July 16, 2009
The Wanneroo Express have been very quite and keeping their cards close to their chest regarding who might and who mightn't be playing at their club this coming season.
Well we do have some very positive news, they have recruited the two Murray Boys, Tim and son Michael.
This is a great signing for the club, Tim has a vast amount of experience and knows the game backwards and is a fierce competitor and no doubt this will be to the advantage of Wanneroo.
Son Michael, a very talented player has rejected overtures to join up with Premier League clubs in
the past has bitten the bullet and will now further hone his already good skills. A bright future awaits Michael who has been skippering for the past couple of years at Scarborough.
It wasn't all that long ago that Tim and Michael were semi-finalists in the State Triples.
With these two very good players now on board it just makes the Wanneroo Express all that much more formidable
and increases the likely hood of a final four place at the end of the season.
FACT July 15, 2009
We have had it confirmed that the Stirling coach and player Tony Krajancic will be staying with Stirling this coming season.
It was a rumour a couple of weeks back there was a possibility that he would go to play for Melville One Blue Sth team.
It would have been a sad thing if this did occur particularly after the long haul to get Stirling into a position to gain promotion into the Premier League.
Tony has a job to do for Stirling that has yet to completed, getting the Stirling Bowling Club into the Premier League. This is good news for Stirling who have lost one or two players who have returned to their original clubs.
Stirling were very unlucky not to have won promotion last season when Mark Pasalich stopped playing. Mark had made an impact up till the time he stopped playing with a 11/4 +
106 shots. Had Mark completed the season a promotion looked more likely than not
FACT
July 14, 2009
It is official, Mosman Park have gained the services of Cambridge pair Brian Katunarich and Mick McGann s Bar/Functions Manager.
Mick McGann has been a steady player for Cambridge over a number of years and has plenty of experience playing as a three but could fill in as a second if needed
That would appear to be an almost be a full book now for Mosman Park who will be a definite threat to the top sides in the Premier League
Competition for places in the 16 will be pretty keen and it will be interesting to see the opening line up for round one.
These moves are a further blow to Cambridge who under performed last season but their One Blue side had a great season winning promotion into One White.
Cambridge have lost Pieter Harris ( Pieter MIGHT return around Xmas), Aj Heal, Brian Kat, Mick McGann and Ron Stockton, That is a fair chunk out of the side.
The bottom line is many Cambridge players who have missed the opportunity of playing in the Premier League
will be given the opportunity to step up to the Premier League
July 6, 2009
The Kardy Kats are on track to win their way into the Premier League next season after winning the signature of the Sth Perth Miller's Mike Trojack.
Mike Trojack played as a two in the second best performed rink in the Premeir League last season is quite a skilful player and will add plenty of bite to the Kats
The move of Mike is a bit of a surprise, It was reported in this rumour section on June the 2nd that the Millers would be retaining gun skip Matty Ellul and Mike Trojack for the coming season but as they say in the classics "a month is a long time in the off season in the world of Lawn Bowls".
This move will have some effect on the Millers who have already lost three very good contributors from last seasons list.
July 6, 2009
FACT
We have word that Cockburn player Alf Jones who joined and played for Cockburn last season has decided to play in the One White division for Kardinya this coming season. Alf hails from the Eastern States.
This is a great move for the Kardinya Kats who look likely to win their way into Premier League at the conclusion of next season.
The Cats already have an abundance of topline skippers, Danny Comrie, Terry Ball, Mike Yates, Wayne Heldt and Geoff "Gelignite" Gould.
What I saw of Alf Jones when he played at Osborne Park, showed he is a very good player and as a third he knows the ropes and can play the position very well. Alf also skippered on some occasions in Midweek for Cockburn.
The Kats are on a winner with Alf Jones who hails from the Eastern States.
The loss of Alf Jones compounds further the
loss of playing strength when we see that topline skips Daniel Brown who has left to play for Mosman Park while another skipper Gary Carberry, has also moved to play for the Doubleview PowerHouse.
Another rumour we have heard concerning Cockburn was that of Joe Galipo who could also be at Kardinya this season but it is only a rumour at this stage.
If that is the case and eventuates it will place the once super strong Cockburn Roosters on the backfoot and almost into the relegation zone. Something almost unthinkable a couple of years back.
What can the best performed Club over the past 35 years do to overcome these losses and remain a power in the competition is the $64 question.

FACT
Just confirmed that Travis Vallance, a Vic Park player last season has signed up to play for the mighty Sth Perth Millers for 2009/10.
We don't know much at all about Travis who has come across from the Eastern States 12 or so months ago.
Travis played a couple of games for Vic Park in their Premier League side last seaon and then spent the rest of the season in their One Blue Sth team where he skippered with great success, the stat sheet showing an impresive 8/3 +48 shots.
Word was he was a more than handy player and if that is the case it could help overcome the loss of Scott Walker and Glenn Pauling who are Kalamunda bound along with Steve Lunn who has moved to live in Queensland..
Sth Perth now have three handy recruits to help bolster their chances of remaining a power in the Premier League. John Carter from the Yokine Doggies and Vinny Santostefano who has returned to Sth Perth after a stint at Dalkeith.
It is good to see Sth Perth who don't pay their players, and after losing out on the possibilty of gaining Russell Hughes, on the front foot trying to make sure they don't lose any of the valuable ground they made since coming into the tough Premier League
two seasons ago with a top four finish last season.
June 24, 2009
We have reveived word that Paul McLean who played here in Perth about 6 years ago could be returning to live.
Paul has spent the past
5 years playing Premier league with Helensvale in Qld
We have been told in the past that he would be returning tp Perth and nothing had come of it.
Well who knows ! maybe this time it might be right that he is coming back and if that eventuates who would be in the box seat to gain his services.
Mosman Park or Doubleview might be in the best position to do so.
But as we always say, this is a just a rumour
June 22, 2009
FACT Russell Hughes signed to play for the Yokine Doggies last Friday.
There has been plenty of speculation as to where Russell might play this season with several clubs vying to gain his services
.
This is an excellent situation for both Russell and Yokine, a new club and a new challenge. The greens at Yokine are second to none and this is where we could see the best of Russell Hughes.
A great signature to have on the books and certainly the biggest so far in the off season and one that will ensure that the Doggies will continue on with their great finish
toward the end of last season to ensure they would remain in the Premier League.
Unlike other bowlers who go to good clubs for personal gain, he thought he would try and help some struggling sides improve their game, hence Yokine.
he could easily have gone to any of the top clubs but realised it would weaken the competition if eveyone wanted to do that.
Russell hopes to coach/mentor any new or younger bowlers and hopefully, in that way, put something back into the game.
He did not take the highest offer made to him and believe that this move will improve his bowls and make him work harder towards more victories for the Yokine Bowling Club and himself.
Russell is now looking forward to the coming season with renewed vigour and enthusiasm.
Hopefully State games and events will come his way as they have in the past and he can help the Doggies up the ladder to success.
There are three county players coming up for the new season, Ron Princi, Ian Cartledge and Rob Bowron, the Doggies already have Darren Kellond who would come up with the first three mentioned players as well as Steve Sloan from Corrigin.
Eddy Dodd who did very well in his first season of Premier League is no certainty to come down for another season from Wonthella and would be loss. Player losses from last season include John Carter and Jamie O`Keefe
Yokine Doggies are on the move and heading in the right direction, their recruiting hasn't stopped. Recently appointed co-ordinator/manager Lee Farrell has made it clear the club is still on the lookout for more players and that anyone who would like to try out for a game is more than welcome to come to Yokine.
June 18, 2009
Another rumour that has been getting around is that concerning Tony Krajancic, the talk is that Tony could be leaving Stirling and return to play and coach Melville.
It would of course be a good move for Melville who are in danger of slipping out of the first division scene. In Tony's last season for the Magic he had a great stat sheet 12/5 + 80 way back in 2004/5
It would be a sad day if we were to see Melville slip off the radar, the club has been a part of the Premier league scene for so many years and are now down to One Blue South.
We have seen in the past that a club can come back from that division to play Premier League, Yokine is one that quickly comes to mind.
Tony Krajancic has an outstanding record as a player coach over the past few years and it was he who as coach played a major role in lifting Mosman Park from years of being in second division into the first division scene.
His good work was cut short after spending only one season at Mosman Park to go to Stirling where again he played a major role after taking over when the club was in second division White.
This season saw Stirling fall short when many expected them to win promotion to the Premier League. Losing skipper Mark Pasalich with four games to play plus finals certainly didnt help the cause
in their endeavour to win promotion
June 18, 2009
Stirling have been mentioned a lot around the bowling scene over the past two weeks or so.
State skipper Russell Hughes has been talked about as a likely recruit to play for Stirling this coming season. There are other clubs who have indicated they would like to have Russell
at their club.
If the move comes off it could be more interesting because we have also heard on the grapevine that Tony Krajancic could be heading off to coach/play for Melville tho as with Russell it is only a rumour at this stage, but as we always say where there is smoke there is fire.
Russell Hughes was the best performed skipper in the Premier League over a three season period when he played at Cockburn in 05, 06, 07.
Since he returned to play at Vic Park his fortunes have taken a turn for the worse on the stat sheet. On his return for season 2007/8 Russell had a 8/9 +14 which is a considerable drop from his stats when playing for Cockburn.
This past season 2008/9 he was replaced as a skipper with a stat sheet showing 4 wins 6 losses 1 draw and a minus 16.
These figures are well below what we have been accustomed to seeing from Russell.
Sherro did see the last game Russell played as a skip for Vic Park and it would be fair to say that his front two players were belted, their bowls were far far away from the jack in that game which makes it hard for any skipper..
If Russell can play at his top he is a great skip but we can't say for certain if his own form hasn't been what we know it can be over the past season or so.
12 wins 15 losses one draw and a minus 2
over 28 games is below average and many lesser skips have a far better stat sheet than that over a 28 game period.
It was interesting to see that Russell played three in a Stirling team that won the very popular Stirling Open fours recently
adding more to the speculation as to where he might play in the coming season.
June 10, 2009
Two rumours we have heard lately are long standing member and One Blue player of Bayswater Kevin Smith will play for Bedford and Dalkeith leader Vaughan Colley could return to Bedford.
There has been a heavy loss of players from Dalkeith who were demoted since the season ended, it will certainly test the Silvertails who will return to One White for the coming season.
June 8, 2009 Ron Stockton is off to another club this coming season. He might be playing for Yokine who could be in need of a skipper after the loss of both Jamie O1Keefe and John Carter who have departed the Yokine scene.
Ron has been a good performer over a number of years and skip is his best position. A good recruit for the Doggies if it comes to fruition but nothing is certain at this point of time other than he has left Cambridge
June 8, 2009
It has been mentioned that Brian Katunarich is leaving Cambridge to return to his previous club Mosman Park to play in 2009/10.
What position Brian will play is uncertain but the last two times I have seen him in action he was in outstanding touch and reminiscent of him at his best some years back.
At his best Brian will be a terrific player for Mosman Park who will be striving to make an impact in their first year in the Premier League
This is another blow for the Cambridge Knights who have also lost Aj Heal who will play at Manning in One White, this along with Pieter Harris and Ron Stockton will make for a difficult year for the Knights.
June 4, 2009
FACT
We have had it confirmed that Gary Carberry is a definite starter for Doubleview and will playing there for the next three seasons .
Gary Carberry was an eagerly sought after player with two other clubs making him a firm offer to line with them.
Gary has made it clear that he is not going to Doubleview for money, rather for the experience of playing with outstanding players such as Dennis Katunarich and Robbie Ball to help him become a better bowler.
Gary is a very gifted player as it all ready is and those who saw him play in the first round against Yokine in the season just past would wonder if it was possible that any player could play better than that performance, it was a 10/10 performance
The recruitment of Gary Carberry to last years Premiers Doubleview, will make it all that much harder for the rest of the competition to win on most Saturday's
The transfer of skipper Gary Carberry is a blow for Cockburn who have been on struggle street for the past couple of years are now right on the backfoot after also losing gun skipper Daniel Brown to Mosman Park for the coming season. These two major losses will dampen any hopes of a revival to former glory days for the Cockburn Roosters.
June 4, 2009
We have word that Scott Walker and Glenn Pauling will play for Kalamunda in the One White division this season. We had heard that Cambridge were in the mix at one stage.
Kalamunda are the winners to have these two talented players join the club and they will play a big part in Kalamunda's endeavors to regain a place in the Premier League which at first glance appears to now be a formality.
Sth Perth will find the loss of both Scott and Glenn hard to overcome and is a setback to the Millers for their plans of emulating last season's great performance in making the finals
June 2, 2009
Yokine could have Eaton's Rob Bowron back in the fold next season so I was told, Rob didn't stay for long in his first venture with the Doggies, He would travel up with Darren Kellond who is a more than handy player and another who might be in the car with them is Ian Cartledge who also is a very handy player.
It is early days and a lot of water to go under the bridge before the start of the pennant season to see what might eventuate
Another player who has been mentioned to come to the Yokine Doggies is Warwick's Elliot Taylor who has been a regular in Warwick's top 16 over a number of years .
June 2, 2009
More good news for Sth Perth when they announced that gun skip Matt Ellul and Mike Trojack would be staying with the club for season 2009/10. There had been gossip that Matt could be heading to another club to play his bowls.
Matt Ellul showed the bowling world just how good he is after a brilliant pennant season and runner up in the State Triples
Mike Trojack took to playing Premier League like a duck takes to water and played a valuable role in the rink playing as a two to help Sth Perth make the finals in their second year back into the big time after many seasons absence.
May 29, 2009
FACT
One rumour that has been doing the rounds is that concerning John Carter who played for the Yokine Doggies last season. There was uncertainty as to where John might play this season and the word was Sth Perth or Osborne Park would be his new home.
Well it is official that John is now a Sth Perth Miller.
Last season John was a member of Scott Edmonds rink that made it to the semi-finals of the State Triples and he played very well.
John was given an opportunity by the Doggies to take on the skippers role and finished with a 4/4 - 10 after copping a bad one in his first game as skip.
If John can produce consistent performances like the brilliant game he played against Osborne Park late in the season he will be a very valuable asset to the Millers
May 21, 2009
Another rumour getting around the traps is that of Scotty Walker and Glen Pauling.
Word is Scott could be heading to Cambridge but not yet a done deal, Kalamunda are in the mix also. If these players leave it will be a body blow to the Millers.
There has been talk that Russell Hughes might line up at Sth Perth but nothing has come of that talk so far.
The other word regarding Sth Perth is that of Matty Ellul who it was suggested that he might be Vic Park Bound but after speaking with him at the PBA he said it wasn't going to happen.
Matt Ellul is one player the Miller cannot afford to lose if they want to retain their place in the Premier League
All in all it leaves the Millers with a lot of work to do before the season starts to acquire some quality players.
May 21, 2009
We have recieved word from Gary Carberry that he has not signed with any club but has had discussions only. Gary will let us know who he will play with when he himself knows.
What ever club wins his signature will be rewarded, Gary is one of the better skips in the Premier League
May 19, 2009
Doubleview PowerHouse have signed Gary Carberry to play for them this coming season. There were about three other clubs that were more than interested in getting Gary to play at their club.
This is a blow to Cockburn who can ill afford to be losing their key players and particularly Gary Carberry who was their gun skip last season. Daniel Brown still has a question mark regarding who he will line up with this coming season.
LAst years Premiers, Doubleview will have a problem to fit all their players who represented them in the Grand Final even more so if Bruce Urquhart as rumoured returns in time for next season.
At this stage Doubleview have Gary Carberry, James O`Keefe and Bruce Urquhart all looking for inclusion in the top side. Word at this stage is no players are leaving the Club
The pressure is on the famous Cockburn Club, who have been the best club over the past 30 years to retain their place in the Premier League next season, but there is still a long way to go before the season starts and they have always managed to pull a rabbit or two out of the hat when it has been most needed.
May 19, 2009 FACT
Yokine Doggies have appointed Lee Farrell as their Premier League coordinator for the coming season.
Yokine
are looking to improve on what they achieved last season. Management approaching Lee to take on this role is a very positive step. You have to give credit to The Yokine Bowling Club who have been active over the years to keep their status as Premier League Club
After coming to Perth from the country (Wonthella) Lee joined Yokine last season and played as a three for Rod Heaton and the rink had a lot of success from the time he joined the rink.
Lee has had previous experience in this role in both football and bowls at Carnamah where the clubs he was involved with enjoyed a lot of success when he took over as the Club leader.
Yokine surprised the bowling world when in the latter part of the season they beat 3 of the sides in four to help save the club from being demoted.
With a leader such as Lee who is passionate about the game and will give the team direction they can build on the 6 wins they had last season and make a play for the final four
Best of luck to the new Premier League co-ordinator Lee Farrell in his role
May 16, 2009 FACT
Big news for the Yokine Doggies. Rod "Rocket" Heaton will be staying at the Club.
There was plenty of speculation as to whether or not Bowlsworld boss Rocket Heaton would stay at Yokine. Sherro did say on SportFM 91.3 late in the season that he would defiantly play at another club this season, well obviously we got that one wrong.
Many thought the Doubleview PowerHouse would be the lucky Club to secure his services but there were other clubs in the mix that made inquiries to see if they could lure him to their club and would have made him as welcome as a winning lotto ticket, not only for his playing ability but he a first class person and highly respected in the bowling community
There was plenty of under current at Yokine last season and it was not a happy club to be at during the season, rumours were rife that up to 10 players would be leaving. The club was running second last for the most part and for all money Yokine appeared to be a relegation
certainty.
Yokine battled on and found the winning formula about two thirds of the way into the season to win important games against good sides and did win the last game of the season against Kalamunda in a winner take all game to avoid relegation.
At their best Yokine were very good and their worst was diabolical. However They played two great games that I witnessed, the second round game at home in particular on magnificent Yokine grass against Osborne Park was the best game I had seen during the home and away games
The decision of Rocket Heaton to stay at Yokine is great news not only for the Doggies but for the competition, Premier League just doesn't need a lop sided uneven boring pennant season with two or three clubs having the best players in their sides and the rest of the competition having no chance.
What is essential is a healthy vibrant and interesting competition to create and keep interest throughout the season..
With Rocket rejecting overtures from some of the top clubs he has played a big part to make sure that some of the talent is spread around and to keep the Yokine Doggies dream alive.
May 15, 2009
FACT
Bedford's Dave Crook is on his way to play for Osborne Park after playing several years at Bedford.
Dave has served Bedford well in his time there and having skippered a rink in the top side and will be a loss to the club who have unfortunately seen a huge amount of players leave over the last 12/18 months.
May 14, 2009
Steve Lunn will be leaving the Mighty Millers and will move to Queensland before the start of Pennants. This is a blow to Sth Perth who could be in line to possibly lose a couple more players.
Steve Lunn played a big part in helping the Millers to establish themselves in the Premier League in their first season in this division. He played three for Nick Reagan and that rink lost just 5 games for the season.
All the best to Steve Lunn and we wish him well for the future
May 13, 2009
One rumour getting around is Scarborough's Ron Kuziela looks set to join the One Blue Sorrento Seals. Ron has just completed a successful season skippering with the Scarborough Seagulls and has a very good stat sheet to show for a season's work
The Sorrento Seals have been the bad luck story of one Blue North including before it was called One Blue North.
For a number of years they have finished second on the ladder at least 3 times I can recall and not won promotion due to changes in the format.
This move will be a good one for the Seals who are looking to go that one better to win promotion. If the rumour has any legs maybe Ron Kuziela is just the man who might make a difference
May 12, 2009 FACT
Mount Pleasant have achieved the recruiting coup of the year by snaring former Australian singles champion Jeff Hall for the upcoming 2009/10 pennant season.
After promising so much early in the season, including a win over Kardinya (now promoted to first division white), Mount Pleasant lost their last five aggregates of the season to be relegated to second division.
Hall, who, among other greenkeeping duties, tends to the single grass green at Mount Pleasant, recently posted his nomination on the club's notice board with the proviso that he will be available for Saturday pennants only.
The skipper of two winning State fours titles and a former State and national singles champion, Hall will be a formidable opponent for other second division skippers next season.
Family and work commitments, plus a nagging injury, caused the champion skipper to pull out of the game two years ago.
Mount Pleasant has a solid core of back-end bowlers such as Jeff White, Hugh McKay, Brian Jeppesen, Barry Elliss, Chris Jones, John Aiten and John Terrell so it would be a great surprise if the "Mounties" did not win the second division pennant next season.
Club singles champion and newly elected Mount Pleasant selector Geoff Rudland, new recruit Steve Salamon (from Manning), plus highly talented teenager Kevin McKay (son of Hugh) and the State's Novice Champion of Champions, Chris hassen, will add to the club's playing ranks next season.
May 9, 2009 FACT
Doubleview have recruited Yokine Doggie skipper Jamie O`Keefe for season 2009/10.
A leader or two spot beckons for Jamie who caught the eye with a great game in the Doubleview Master Pairs final in February.
Jamie didn't have a lot of success as a skip at Yokine but he will certainly do a good job of leading or playing two which had been his primary role in N.S.W before heading West a couple of years ago.
May 8, 2009
Word has got around that Yokine Player Jamie O`Keefe could be on the move, we had flagged this earlier but the rumour has since then gathered momentum and Doubleview are one of the clubs in the running to get him to the club.
We will see what develops from here
May 8, 2009
Mosman Park have signed up Daniel Brown for next season.
This is a huge coup for Mossie's and will no doubt help in their efforts to be competitive in the Premier League.
They are starting to look impressive with John Rainoldi, Steve Withers and Brad Ball already skippering their rinks.
Daniel Brown is a proven player who would not have been far away from State selection last season. Last season saw him end the season with a good stat sheet in a year that Cockburn struggled. 8/6/2 + 27
A change of club will no doubt refresh his competitive drive and should be a valuable asset to the club for season 2009/10.
One would tend to think with this list of skips Mossie's could push for a place in the four
May 6, 2009
Mosman Park, a club on the move and sure to improve their playing list are building up for the new season with some quality recruits, both Robert Paxton and Ian Honor (pending his Visa application.) represent great value for Mossie's, that will make three English players to play for the club after the recruitment of young Robert Tiller last season who is is held in high regard in bowling circles generally
If these two new players can adjust to Australian conditions quickly it would seem Mosman Park will have the cattle to make an impact on the Premier League next season.
Both Paxton and Honor have represented England at various levels Indoors and outdoors. Two years ago Paxton was a semi-finalist in the World Indoor Singles.
One wonders if there is some more recruiting yet to be done by Mosman Park.
May 5, 2009
Heard on the grapevine that Cambridge's Aj Heal is on the move to Manning. If this is true then it is a huge loss for the knights and a huge gain for the newly promoted One White club, Manning Eagles.
Aj has been an enormous player for Cambridge over the past two seasons which saw him become the top knight in season 2007/8 and this year he finished in the top 5 of the best player award.
Aj will be very hard to replace, there is no doubt he could command a fee, there are plenty of players with lesser ability than Aj who are getting more than a $$ or two.
May 5, 2009
Bayswater Wolves have picked another player last week when Kevin Corbett walked into the club after leaving Bedford. The Wolves have been building up their playing list after winning promotion to One Blue North last season and managed to survive when at one stage it appeared they might be demoted. The management seem to be very determined to at least hold or go one better and find their way into One White which now seems possible
April 28, 2009
One rumour that has been talked about often of late is the possible departure of Russell Hughes to go from Vic Park to Sth Perth. If that gossip is true then it would a great pickup for Sth Perth.
State Skipper,Russell Hughes lost his role as a skipper for Vic Park halfway thru this past season and maybe this is a reason for him deciding to leave.
Sth Perth have a no player payment policy so it might not be a club that Russell would play for considering there are many clubs that do pay players. Interesting times ahead in regard as to whether or not this rumour has any legs
April 27, 2009
Word getting around the place is Milan Jokic who transferred to Swan from Manning last season at at around the middle of the season could be on the move again, this time to the Bayswater Wolves. Bayswater held their place in One Blue North and to get a player of Milan's ability would certainly help the cause for 2009/10.
Another player who could be heading to the same club is Ken Monkhouse who is another that would help push the club further up the grades.
As usual I can only pass on what is being talked about among bowlers
April 21, 2009
State Pairs winner Scott Edmonds has informed Sherro that he is definitely staying on with Yokine next season.
There had been talk that Scotty would be going to Osborne Park or Wanneroo for the coming season.
This is a most welcome decision for the Doggies who would have been buoyed by the great finish to the season where they avoided relegation, winning their last game against Kalamunda who were also trying to avoid demotion.
Scott gave a sensational performance in the State events where he made it to the semi-final of the Triples, won the Pairs and was runner up in the Singles.
The word is almost all the players are staying put, quashing rumours that several (up to 10) would be leaving. There is uncertainty regarding John Carter, Jamie O`Keefe.
Former coach/mentor Rocket Heaton said on radio he would make up his mind where he would be playing after taking a break from bowls in the middle of the year
April 10, 2009
One that has been floating around over the past week is Vinny "The Stallion" Santostefano is heading back to the green green carpets of home at Sth Perth.
A season with now demoted Premier League side Dalkeith has given him plenty of experience that he might not otherwise have got and he is now ready to be a part of his first club attempt to win the Flag in 2009/10
April 8, 2009
Manning player and gun tipster Steve Salamon is on the move to Mt Pleasant.
Steve is looking forward to going Mt Pleasant and will give great playing service to the club in its bid to regain
1st division in 2010.
It is also in the wind that 3 or 4 other players are on the move from Manning .
This player loss is sure to test the player depth at Manning if it occurs.
April 7, 2009
We are hearing Dalkeith's Willie Tan might be on the move, Club unknown at the moment
April 7, 2009
Probably a little old by now but for those who are not aware, State Singles Champ Brian "Ron" Axford is off to play for the Bassendean Lions in One White next season. The Lions are on the prowl and looking for promotion to the Premier League and this recruitment is a handy start toward that goal
April 7, 2009
FACT
Dominic Milbourne played three for Brad Ball this season and was a valuable contributor to the Mosman Park success this season will not be available due a move to the country. That is a huge loss for Mossie's.
Another player who will join Mossie's is Norm Ball who played at Hilton last season. DARN!! I would have liked to see if he could have played against son Brad just one more time.
Norm is sure to be a great recruit with father and son together again.
April 6, 2009
The rumour mill is in full swing and on the grapevine we hear that Daniel Brown could be on the move from Cockburn to newly promoted Mosman Park. If true it is sure to give the Mossie's team a lot of firepower.
Another we have heard is Gary Carberry who has been linked to two clubs and he would make a difference if he goes there. The two clubs are Mosman Park and Cambridge.
Of course we can't say for sure that these rumours are true but these are a couple that are getting around in the Bowling world.
This page is about the rumours that we hear from time to time--so please take it as just that --rumours--gossip. I cant say they are right or wrong.

Word getting around and coming from as far away as Bunbury is Ian Cartledge could play Premier League with the Doggies within a week or two.
Ian was down to play for the Doggies at the start of the season but it never eventuated
He has played the State Triples semi-final a couple of seasons back to give an indication of his talent
If this rumour is correct he will add something to the list and would be a valuable player to have in the 16

FACT
October 25, 2009
There has been much speculation concerning Mosman Park player Brad Ball. There has been a lot of gossip as to whether or not he was staying at the club.
There was an unsavory incident concerning he and Steve Withers which has led Brad to part company with Mosman Park right on the eve of the new pennant season. He would have loved to have stayed at Mosman Park, Brad tried to resolve the issue but was unable to do so
So it was that he decided to return to his first Club the Kardinya Kats, who at last can say with confidence they they have now got BALLS!
Brad has been humbled by the support he has been given by the bowling world in this awkward time.

Ken is a very experienced player and will be a very good addition to Armadale 16 but there is more to Ken than just being a player, he also has excellent admiinistrative skills.

Cambridge Bowling Club have won themselves the signature of one of the best Country bowlers in W.A.
Brian Calthorpe who comes from Cunderdin has signed for the coming season.
Brian played a huge game as a three in the final of the 2004 State fours and earlier this year he again played as a three in the winning Country week fours with Maurice Crameri.
Cambridge have certainly got themselves a first class recruit for season 2009/10
October 12, 2009
.Norm Ball has returned to Kardinya after many years away.
Kardinya is delighted to have Norm back on board. His presence will add even greater strength and depth to the Kat's.

Mike Nilson has joined the Yokine Doggies from the Murray Districts League where he was one of the successful skippers that steered the South West to their Inter round robin win last season.

No doubt two of these players, Lance Strahan and Daniel Wood will have a huge impact on the fortunes of the Hilton Hawks this season.

This again is a loss to Yokine who have now lost three of last years side that came from the brink to stave off relegation to the Millers.
Not sure if I would like to be a selector at Sth Perth, there is a heavy influx of players to the club that finished 4th last season. It is going to be a hard time ahead for them to select who is in and who is out of opening 16 that takes to the greens.
The One Blue North side should be extra strong this season
September 16, 2009
The Sth Perth Millers have added Paul Harris to their list for the upcoming season.
Paul Played for the Yokine Doggies last season, I know very little of Paul but the Millers are delighted to have him in their ranks.
The loss of Paul Harris has only added to the loss of quite a few players from the Doggies.
Gone are Scotty Edmonds, John Carter, Rodney Rewko and Eddie Dodd. there are others who might not be available for varying reasons.
Meanwhile the Millers have really built up their list and one can imagine how hard it will be to make the final 16 to play in the first game of the season.
From here it is all systems go as Stirling push for a place in the Premier League, it would surprise if Stirling don't achieve their goal this season..
Jon Sharp is very well respected in bowling community and a great leader of people who can get the best out of all who play for him
September 2, 2009
An interesting signature for Stirling, Shane Knott is still a work in progress. and being as young as he is Shane can only keep improving. The young fellah already has some runs on the board and is sure to be what Stirling are looking for as they prepare to build their side up and make another charge at winning promotion from One White to the Premier League.

RUMOUR
We have heard a rumour on the grapevine that Doubleview's Kyle McIlroy is to become team coordinator for the Paradise Point Bowling Club in Queensland.
We are treating this as a rumour unless we hear otherwise .

FACT
Mosman Park have signed Matty Ellul who played for Sth Perth Millers last season.
This is as good as it gets for Mosman to win the signature of one the best skippers in W.A. Matt was a super player for Sth Perth and his efforts were the main reason that the Millers made the finals last season. This puts a whole new dynamic for Mosman who already were looking good without Matt in the lineup.
A great lineup of skips, John Rainoldi, Daniel Brown, Steve Withers and Matt Ellul, this group will go with the best of them and a bit more.
With State duties in October it will be a good build up for Scott for the upcoming new season and to be a part of a well managed club and a great bunch of disciplined players who have been at the forefront of bowls over the past three seasons this will no doubt add further to Scott's growing statue in the game.
If the rumour is correct it would fit into Osborne Park's plans nicely because of uncertainty over the availability of Gary Caffell who might not be available to play till Xmas and to also fill the gap left by Pat Caffell who is away on a trip around Australia, Pat may not be back for another year or two.
Glenn has much to offer and played his part for the Millers who made the finals in their second year back in the bigtime.
The Millers are looking good, particularly after snapping up two skippers, something they have been in desperate need of if they are to progress further .
August 13, 2009
We have news at last concerning the Morley Mavericks, they have been fairly quite as far as recruiting goes, they have been trying to extend their list without much success until now.
Murray Hulbert a leader for Wanneroo will join the club for the up coming season. Having seen Murray first hand last season where he played a good game against Cambridge as a leader this is a good signature for Morley.
Murray has plenty of experience as a Premier League player over the years and will do well for the Morley Mavericks in any position.
Morley were the best side in One White capping it off with the Premiership Flag after defeating Mosman Park.
Sean would most likely lead or play second, he plays both positions well
This is a good pickup for Yokine, who have done extra well with the recruitment of Russell Hughes and now Sean Wright.
August 7, 2009
Word is Lance Strahan has joined Hilton Park for season 2009/10.
Lance didn't play last season after deciding to take a break from the game.
He played for Cockburn in 2007/8 and was their best performed skipper with 12/3 + 59 shots, an impressive stat sheet.
Lance was chosen to participate in the State squad the following season but decided to take a break from the game.

Being as young as he is he can only get better as a player and a good future awaits him
It will be interesting to see where he plays in the OP side, one thing he will love, is the quality of Osborne Park grass which will allow him to play at his best.

Without doubt Marko is one of the most skilled bowlers to have ever played in W.A and will make a huge difference to Stirling

Mark has had a parting of the ways from Striling when we noticed him become unavailable to play for them toward the end of last season.
After losing Scott Walker, Steve Lunn, Glenn Pauling, the Millers have covered these losses fairly well with the recruitment of Travis Vallance, Vinny Santostefano, Mark Pasalich and John Carter.
FACT

The Wanneroo Express have been very quite and keeping their cards close to their chest regarding who might and who mightn't be playing at their club this coming season.
Well we do have some very positive news, they have recruited the two Murray Boys, Tim and son Michael.
This is a great signing for the club, Tim has a vast amount of experience and knows the game backwards and is a fierce competitor and no doubt this will be to the advantage of Wanneroo.
Son Michael, a very talented player has rejected overtures to join up with Premier League clubs in the past has bitten the bullet and will now further hone his already good skills. A bright future awaits Michael who has been skippering for the past couple of years at Scarborough.
It wasn't all that long ago that Tim and Michael were semi-finalists in the State Triples.
With these two very good players now on board it just makes the Wanneroo Express all that much more formidable and increases the likely hood of a final four place at the end of the season.
FACT
July 15, 2009
Mark had made an impact up till the time he stopped playing with a 11/4 + 106 shots. Had Mark completed the season a promotion looked more likely than not
FACT

The bottom line is many Cambridge players who have missed the opportunity of playing in the Premier League will be given the opportunity to step up to the Premier League
The loss of Alf Jones compounds further the loss of playing strength when we see that topline skips Daniel Brown who has left to play for Mosman Park while another skipper Gary Carberry, has also moved to play for the Doubleview PowerHouse.
June 26, 2009
It is good to see Sth Perth who don't pay their players, and after losing out on the possibilty of gaining Russell Hughes, on the front foot trying to make sure they don't lose any of the valuable ground they made since coming into the tough Premier League two seasons ago with a top four finish last season.
June 24, 2009
We have reveived word that Paul McLean who played here in Perth about 6 years ago could be returning to live.
Paul has spent the past 5 years playing Premier league with Helensvale in Qld
We have been told in the past that he would be returning tp Perth and nothing had come of it.
Well who knows ! maybe this time it might be right that he is coming back and if that eventuates who would be in the box seat to gain his services.
Mosman Park or Doubleview might be in the best position to do so.
But as we always say, this is a just a rumour

FACT
Russell Hughes signed to play for the Yokine Doggies last Friday.
There has been plenty of speculation as to where Russell might play this season with several clubs vying to gain his services .
This is an excellent situation for both Russell and Yokine, a new club and a new challenge. The greens at Yokine are second to none and this is where we could see the best of Russell Hughes.
A great signature to have on the books and certainly the biggest so far in the off season and one that will ensure that the Doggies will continue on with their great finish toward the end of last season to ensure they would remain in the Premier League.

Losing skipper Mark Pasalich with four games to play plus finals certainly didnt help the cause in their endeavour to win promotion
June 18, 2009
Stirling have been mentioned a lot around the bowling scene over the past two weeks or so.
State skipper Russell Hughes has been talked about as a likely recruit to play for Stirling this coming season. There are other clubs who have indicated they would like to have Russell at their club.
12 wins 15 losses one draw and a minus 2 over 28 games is below average and many lesser skips have a far better stat sheet than that over a 28 game period.
It was interesting to see that Russell played three in a Stirling team that won the very popular Stirling Open fours recently adding more to the speculation as to where he might play in the coming season.
June 8, 2009
Ron Stockton is off to another club this coming season.

FACT
Yokine Doggies have appointed Lee Farrell as their Premier League coordinator for the coming season.
Yokine are looking to improve on what they achieved last season.

FACT
The club was running second last for the most part and for all money Yokine appeared to be a relegation certainty.

FACT

FACT
Steve is looking forward to going Mt Pleasant and will give great playing service to the club in its bid to regain 1st division in 2010.
