The word coming out of the Manning Bowling Club is under 18s National Singles champ David Downey has joined the Eagles who will assist him in his preparation to represent Australia against New Zealand in March.

David accepted the offer because he feels it is exactly the preparation he needs to have in the run up to the TransTasman Series, he has placed his cricket on hold until after Auckland.

The young fellah has been capitated to Lake Grace this season but hasn't played a game for them due to his cricket commitments in Perth.

It was thought that if he played pennants in Perth again it would be for his beloved and very professionally run Gosnells Club, but the offer to play on top class grass greens and renowned for their quality, Manning also very professional the way they run their Club and in the same mould as Gosnells was too good to refuse.

I think both David and the Manning Bowling Club should be congratulated for placing representing one's country in such high regard.

We have received word that Doubleview skipper Scott Edmonds will play his last game of Premier League this Saturday against Osborne Park.

No doubt a huge blow to the PowerHouse who have been travelling well this season and Scott himself who is having a terrific season, having played several very good games up until round ten.

He would has been pushing hard and such was his form that he was under notice with his performances that might have led to inclusion in the State squad.

Scott has secured employment in the Mining Industry and is the second PL player this season to have taken up such employment, the other is Sth Perth player Ross Bresland.
How long he will be away is not known but apparently he will play some games in One Blue from time to time late in the season.

December 20, 2012
There have been a few players taking advantage of the 9/10 pennant game rule that allows them to switch Clubs till the 31st Decamber..

The latest player to switch Clubs is Willy Tan.

Willy Tan, a real gentleman of the game, has transferred from Stirling Bowling Club to play at One White Club Mosman Park for the remainder of the season , they would be delighted to pick a handy player such as Willy to help in their endeavours to avoid demotion.

A RUMOUR NO MORE
John and Matt Trewhella have been named in the Warnbro starting 16 for the all important game against Mosman Pk this Saturday

December 17, 2012

Word getting around the Bowling clubs is the Trewhella's, John and Matthew, will be severing ties with Cambridge and returning to Warnboro after next Saturday.
I have had six different sourccs contact me about this possibilty

A huge loss for Cambridge who needs to win six of its last nine games to have a chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
On the other hand how lucky for Warnbro who ironically are also languishing in last position on the One White points table to get two such talented players .

This rumour has it seems definite substance, given that my informants have been told of this alleged upcoming switch by the Trewhellas from sources at both Warnboro and Cambridge.

We are treating this as a rumour till we have official confirmation

December 18, 2012
Latest player to take advantage of the 9/10 game rule that allows players to transfer to a club of their choice before 31st December.

Yokine Doggie Alan Davis has made the move to Osborne Pk where he has played previously, a quick check of the OP Singles honour board reveals he won the blue ribbon event back in 1987.

No doubt a huge loss for the Doggies when they lose a talented player such as Allan Davis, but also a person who was more than just a player with his input to administrative duties.

It is well known in the Bowling world that there is an on going issue that has forced him to seek another club.
Osborne Park are sure to benefit from his vast experience

December 17, 2012
Latest player to switch Clubs is Joe Rollnik, Joe cut it fine but just in time with the window closing in relation to changing Clubs on the 31st of December .

Joe has been in the news over the past couple of seasons with some outstanding performances, such as runner up in the DV Master Pairs and a semi final berth in the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles.

He joined Bassendean this season and I think it was his first time playing in the PL. A lack of form saw him playing in 3rd division which is Bassendean's second side, from rd 7,

After three games in that division Joe decided he would be better value to the Valley Bowling Club and has decided to play out the remainder of the pennant season with them.

No doubt he will be welcomed back with open arms and sure to play a prominent part in the Vally's drive forward to make it to 1st division

Once again we see the wisdom of allowing players to switch Clubs up to the 31st of December

December 13, 2012
FACT
We have heard on the grapevine that the 2012 Mt Lawley Consistencey Singles winner Stewart Bainbridge has transferred to Doubleview for the remainder of the season.
The switch of Clubs for Stewart has come just in the nick of time as we see the 9 game window of opportunity to switch Clubs end on 31st December.

We have no clues as to what has bought about the decision to move Clubs but make mention this is the second occasion Stewart has left Victoria Pk before the end of the first round of Pennants.

Stewart at his best is a very good player, it will be interesting to see what position he will line up in at Doubleview, who are sitting pretty at the top of the table

December 3, 2012

Sherro has received a rumour from 4 sources concerning Victoria Pk Premier League side stating they have been stripped of all points in games where an unregistered player was involved .

This is the word that is buzzing around the Clubs at the moment.

What we do know is Victoria Park have not been stripped of any points, and they are not aware they have played with an unregistered player at any time this season.

I guess everyone should take a deep breath for now, until whether or not there is any validity to these rumours

December 3, 2012
Sherro was at Sorrento yesterday watching some of the terrific games that were being played. John Berecz told me that he had informed Club officals would not be playing for Innaloo for the rest of the season, and had left the Club.

John is the current Champion of Club Singles Champions and a very worthy one at that, it appears to be that John is a bit of a free spirit and not certain what he will do from here, but it won't be playing bowls, well not for the immediate future anyway.

Innaloo are at the bottom end of the ladder and struggling to stay in One White, the loss of a player such as John Berecz has come at an awkward time for the Redbacks in their bid to avoid demotion

November 29, 2012

Matty France is returning to Merredin and will not complete his apprenticeship as a Greenkeeper at Yokine. He is taking on a new apprenticeship with Boomer Geering in the Building industry.

Matty a big move. I'm sure you will go well a champion bloke and champion player.
Good luck from us all at Bedford and Yokine.

November 28, 2012
FACT
Stirling Rangers have done well for themselves come almost mid-season with the surprise recruitment of Lance Strahan who last played with the Hilton Hawks. He will play 3rd for Tommy Norac this week, Tony Krajancic is unavailable because of work commitments.
Gaining the signature of Lance will now give the Rangers options they have not had previously. His recruitment adds to the strength of the Stirling 16
The well travelled Lance Strahan at his best, has displayed he can go head to head with any skip in the PL

November 13, 2012

A huge loss for the Manning Eagles with the news coming thru of the departure of Paul Butler, he is relocating to Kalgoorlie because of his employment and will be leaving around end of November

Speaking with Paul He stated that just like the other clubs that he has been fortunate to play with, Manning has been very welcoming and he has enjoyed doing something he loves doing, that was utilizing his coaching skills within the club .

He won the two bowls singles championship this year and it was an opportunity to get to know most of the players and they have a great culture as have Osborne Park as we both know.

Paul stated the Manning Bowling club really is going to be something special in the next two or three years, as this is just a building period at present.

Indeed this is a loss to the Eagles who will miss his deadly drawshot and coaching skills. Not sure if we will see Paul Butler back here in Perth, lets hope so.

Sherro will never forget the outstanding game he played for Osborne Pk in the Premier League Grand Final against VP in 2011, it was no doubt, a match winning performance.

.

November 13, 2012
Chris Bowler has left Osborne Park after the 3rd game of the season due to a lack of opportunity to play Premier League, he has joined the Victoria Park Reds.
Chris is no doubt is a loss to Osborne Park who have been very encouraging to the young fellah since his arrival to the Club a couple of years back.
It is hard to break into such a strong side as Osborne Park is, with only 16 places available on any Saturday.
It is sad to see him leave, but I am sure he will try and make the most of his opportunities at VP and wish him all the best

.

November 7, 2012
I have received word from the Snooper that former Sportsmans and Cambridge player Joe Mobilia, who incidently won a State Pairs with the Late Stewart Davies many years ago, will play with PerthTattersals for the rest of this season.
Joe was a handy player back in his heyday but I have no idea what he has has been doing over the past few years.
Good to see him back in the fold and if he can play to the ability he had in the past then Perth Tatts are on a winner

October 30, 2012
Sth Perth premier league Player Barry Kalinowski has transferred to One White Club Mosman Pk after playing for South Perth PL against Osborne Pk last Saturday in the first round of the new season.
last season Barry Kalinowski played in Sth Perth's one Blue Sth side winning 7 wins from 7 games when chosen to play as skip in the home and away games.
He lost the semi-final game against Safety Bay, along the way he was only one of two rinks to have defeated Steve Srhoy who lost only 2 games for the season.

Not only did Barry have a good pennant record playing skip he also won the Sth Perth blue ribbon event taking out the club singles.
Mosman Pk have a skipper vacancy and as the rules very wisely allow, he has taken advantage of them and will play the rest of the season for Mosman Pk as a skipper

October 23, 2012
Kalamunda have acquired a new recruit by the name of Tony Davis  who hails  from Broad Meadows Bowling club in Victoria. Tony has played as a skip in Premier League skip for the Club. We wishTom all the best for the coming season

October 19, 2012
Sth Perth have taken a heavy hit with the news that Ross Bresland, apart from the first game of the season, will not be playing for the Club for the next two seasons.
Work committments have made it impossible for Ross to play for the Millers.
His loss will be enourmous and difficult to overcome, with him gone it does place the Millers in dangerous territory as far as relegation goes.
No doubt he has been the heart and soul of the Club and by far the best performed skipper over the past five seasons. Ross still has plenty of good games left to play and I am sure he will be welcomed back with open arms when he returns to the pennant scene.

October 17, 2012
We have received information that former Mosman player Ryan Hawke had joined the Manning Eagles earlier this year, that might have been the case then but as of now he is no longer flying with the Eagles and will in fact become a Stormer, yes he has joined the Armadale Storm.

Ryan has many Premier League games to his credit and will add more depth to the Club which is a good thing to keep every one on their toes peformance wise.

The already powerful Storm have a strong line up and it appears they are well on the way to One White judging by the standard of their recruitments this year.

October 15, 2012
Word out and about is Mike Vitale has made the move to play for the newly promoted Bedford Bulls this coming season. If this is the case it could be a good move for the Bulls who have lost a huge amount of depth with Scott Edmonds, Cody Packer and Matt Donovan leaving the Club this season.

With the loss of these players it appears that Bedford are on the ropes to use boxing parlance, the inclusion of Mike Vitale who skippered a rink to a semi final berth in the State Triples in 2009 could play an important role to help keep the Bulls in One White.

October 14, 2012
The Swan Bowling Club have signed a biggie, it is all happening for the Swans having gained the signature of the very experienced and former Bassendean player Jeff Mitchell on Saturday.
Club officials are delighted to have a player of his ability on their list as they prepare for the new season with a determined push to win promotion to One White.
No doubt those Swannies are dinkum to revive past glories after a good showing in their first appearance in first division last season, this was after a 50 year absence from 1st divison.

This signing combined with others such as Ken Perks who will be a huge asset to the Swans, along with former Vic Park player Aiden Cacciopli could just about do the trick for the Swannies.

.

October 12, 2012
No longer a Rumour, Ian White a former first division player has signed up to play for the Perth and Tattersalls bowling club, this will be a positive for the front end at Tatts.
All accounts Ian is a very handy player and would fit in well

October 11, 2012
The Kardinya Kats won the race to sign up former Sth Perth player Geoff White, There were others clubs in the hunt to add him to their list however the Kats won the day.

The Kats regard Geoff as a very good bowler & a great bloke, he will be a very valuable addition to the Karinya Kats aftter having lost a couple of very good players from last season, he will fit in beautifully at Kardy and likely to fill a skippers role.

It is looking good for Kardinya and perhaps we will see a speedy return to Premier League .

October 6, 2012

Good news for Stirling with their latest recruits, young Matt Ayres has joined the Club and is sure to have an impact. Young Matt has had a wonderful last couple of months, firstly he was selected to play in the Junior Gold Nugget series held at Tweed heads, and only this week just past Matt was a member of the Gold Medal winning Triples side in the National Under 18's Championships.
Another to sign up was Willy Tan who played for Kardinya last season where he played very well, Stirling have built up their list nicely with the inclusion of another youngster in Garry Lockett, it would seem they will be well served up front with these players

October 5, 2012
Cambridge have added to their list with the return of the Father/Son pair John and Matt Trewhella who played last season at Warnbro.
Cambridge officials have expressed their delight saying that having them back at the Club will add greatly to their chances of securing another premiership this season

October 4, 2012
Cambridge Knights have signed up Liam Ranford who they say has plenty of ability. I am not aware of Liam but have been informed that his Dad was a highly regarded player in NZ
Liam has been bowling around six years and played in the Taranaki junior side in NZ and will be a likely starter in the opening game of the season

October 2, 2012
We were on the money in regard to former Yokine Doggie Ian Cooper, he will be lining up for Perth and Tattersalls this coming season and should make a difference at his new Club.
Yokine have taken a few hits in the off season with the loss of Erron Martin, Rick Eddy, Brian Davis, this loss will have some effect on the Doggies this season. Demotion now appears to be a distinct possiblity unless the Club can pull a rabbit or two out of the hat.

September 30, 2012
Warwick Bowling Club have signed up the well travelled Ron Stockton as their new coach for the coming season. Warwick who have generally been a first division side for as long as I can remember spent last season in second division but have quickly bounced back to play in Blue Nth this season
Ron has played many seasons in Premier League, at his top he was a very good player, his experience will be most welcome Warwick

September 28, 2012
A rumour getting around is one that concerns Yokine player Ian Cooper, Coops who recently won the Wagin Split Fours has been seen at the Perth Tattersals Club in recent times.
As we know Tatts are on a recruiting drive and have built up their list nicely to give themselves a big chance of winning promotion to first divison.

So far they have some very good players on board such as Yates, Lindsay, Wright and Ivors and Carter, will they have Cooper on board soon?
We will keep an eye on this one and see what developes

September 27, 2012

Vic Park had received the bad news earlier in the year that Anthony Provost would live in the Mandurah area and therefore due to family reasons would not be available to play in the 2012-13 pennant season.

The Club has since been informed of better news for Victoria Park fans, Anthony Provost and family will be moving from Mandurah back to to the metropolitan area and he is available to play for Vic Park in the new season.

When it was announced that he would not be playing any pennants it certainly dimmed what ever prospects that Vic Park had of making the grand final and certainly cast serious doubt as to whether or not the Club could even make the final four.

His presence in the side will no doubt enhance greatly Victoria Park's prospects for the coming season of being finals contenders and possible flag winners

September 21, 2012
Swan Bowling Club have been in the news of late, after gaining the signature of top line coach Ken Perks who will be a huge asset to the Swans, we find that former Vic Park player Aiden Cacciopli has also signed up for the Club
Aidens experience in the Premier League will be a help to the Swans as they look forward to winning further promotion to One White this season

September 20, 2012
Swan Bowling Club after a 50 year draught broke through to play first division, they recruited some pretty handy bowlers once they got there and did well in their first season as a top division Club.
Latest to join their ranks is the likeable Kenny Perks who is a committed and passionate person and a very good coach. Ken will add to the Swan list and be a valuable asset for them

September 20, 2012
Perth Tattersals are on the move with another signing this week, they have Brian Wright from Dalkeith join the Club for the upcoming season. He joins Mark Lindsay who also was a Dalkeith player last season.
We beleive Tatts have a couple more solid players in their sights

September 19, 2012
Bill Galloway will play for Mt Pleasant One White in the coming season. Bill has played the last seven seasons with Osborne Park, in that time he was a star player helping the Club to 3 premierships and a National Premier League title. Last season Osborne Park tied with Cabramatta in 1st place but lost on aggregate.
Bill has been both a gentleman and an ornament to the game and will be missed at Osborne Park
Mt Pleasant have a very good player in Bill Galloway, he will be an asset to the Mounties in their drive to attain Premier League status

September 18, 2012
Morley have signed up both Vic Orchard and son Chris who have come down from that big hill and will play for the Morley Mavericks this season.
The young fellah Chris shows plenty of promise and will fit in nicely at the home of the Mighty Mavericks. While Vic has plenty of experience that could hold him in good stead

September 12, 2012 ...

Kalamunda have lost another young player, Josh Studds will play for Bemont City this coming season, he joins Dillon Elliot who also signed up with Belmont .

Josh Studds who is highly thought of at Kalamunda is a very promising young player who has played Premier League with the Tigers, he has plenty of upside and a wonderful future in the game .
His father Tom is a well known player who also plays at Belmont.

September 11, 2012

Very promising player young Dillon Elliot a former Kalamunda Tiger and a Yokine Doggie has decided to chuck his lot in with Belmont City and hopefully play a part in getting the Club into 1st division.

Must say Dillon has been an impresive player each time I have seen him play, no doubt he will add something to the 2nd division Belmont City Bowling Club in their efforts to win promotion.

September 3, 2012
Yokine skipper Rick Eddy has called it a day and has retired from the sport. Rick recently moved residence and shifted to the Mandurah area, he decided against travelling up to the City to play pennants after many years playing the game.

Always the team man his loss will be felt by the Doggies who have now lost two of their better player as they prepare for season 2012-13. Rick did say he really enjoyed his time with Yokine and wished them the all the best for the future

From now on it will be a life on the sea fishing and crabbing and very doubtful we will see the big fellah back in whites in his own words :

"I've swapped the bowls for a boat. This retirement is dinkum, you can bet on it," he told us with a straight face.

Well done Rick you are a great fellah, we will miss your presence and humour, best wishes to you.

For those who might have missd our story on Rick, the link below is his story in our personality's page.

Rick Eddy

August 30, 2012
Perth Tattersals 2nd division have made a move to strengthen their list with the recruitment of a Dalkieth Player. The very likeable Mark Lindsay is coming on board to play for them in the coming season.
No doubt this is a quality signature for Perth Tatterals to obtain, Mark will bring a wealth of experience to the Club and should play a large part in the fortunes of Perth Tatts in the coming season.

Mark joins the effervescent Mike Yates, former State Selector John Carter and Dave Ivers, are all pretty handy players who should give the Club their best chance for sometime to win promotion to 1st division

August 27, 2012
Bayswater's long time member Stan Kelly has been at bayswater for 20 years and was their leading skipper last year, signed up to play at Bedford for the upcoming season. A big loss for Bayswater no doubt, in the meantime Bedford's Gordon Gray has since joined Bayswater.

August 23, 2012
Hilton Park Hawks who were demoted from One White have suffered another loss to the playing list. Steve Back has left the Hawks and signed on the dotted line to play for the kardinya Kats this season.
Steve Back has been a very handy player over many years will be a more than handy addition to the Cattery.

August 21, 2012
We reported earlier that Kieran Cousins had left the Hilton Hawks and rejoined his previous Club, Cockburn. Well that is only the second punctured Tyre we have had for season, but that sometimes is what happens when we deal in rumours.

We have now received word that he has in fact joined the Warnbro Wizards who won promotion to One White for the new season which is almost upon us, just 65 days to start time actually.
Kieran who lives very close to the Club has vast experience and can play in a variety positions, will be good value to the Club .

August 16, 2012
Word has filtered out that former Cockburn Legend Marko Krajancic has rejoined the Roosters, the Club where he achieved much of his success in Major events and pennants .
It has been a while since Marko last played at Cockburn, having played with Yokine, Dalkeith and Stirling over an 8/9 year period.
Having seen him in action in the first semi final against Vic Park back in April he has showed that while he is not quite the player he used to be he still has some of the past magic .
All in all it is good news for Cockburn who have regained many of the players who had left the Club over the past five seasons, they are certainly building up for a red hot crack at regaining a place in the Premier League and with Marko in the side it will increase their chances no end .

August 16, 2012
Top skipper from Hollywood - Subi top side Rob Campbell, has signed up with South Perth for the up coming season. Rob is a very steady player and is sure to be fighting for a place in premier division

August 15, 2012
Doggone, yes it is true, Erron Martin was a Yokine Doggie for the past two seasons is now a Tiger having signed with Kalamunda.

Erron stated that a significant change in his Bob Jane T Mart business has influenced his decicision not to continue with the Yokine Doggies where he won their club Singles last season and their Fairest and Best the previous year.
"Traveling 60ks round trip 4 times a week just couldnt be sustained given the time he needed to spend in his business. I am full of praise for Yokine and really enjoyed my time at the Club " Erron said

Erron is a good pick up for the Tigers given some of the losses of personel they are suffering this year , Not sure where Erron will line up for the Tigers but certainly he is an accomplished Third and has has several years of Skipering in First division ranks with reasonable success.

August 14, 2012
Morley Maverick Mark Callcott is a Maverick no longer. The likeable young fellah was rumoured to be joining Manning Eagles and Cambridge Knights at some stage during the off season has instead signed up to play at Osborne Park. He is a very handy player with plenty of upside to come which will happen playing at a professional Club such as Osborne Pk.
Unfortunetly young Mark will not be available to play Bowls at the start of the season for personal reasons

August 13, 2012
Rumour is getting around is Doubleview player Ken Screech has joined Sth Perth for the upcoming season. As an established DV player over the last 4 seasons he has gained a lot of experience that could be helpful to the Millers who are on the edge in the tough Premier League competition

August 11, 2012
Perth Tatts have signed a big name for the up coming season and there is talk of two more handy players on the move there.
We don't know who these players are but it would seem with Mike Yates already at the Club he would have a hand in who is coming, hopefully a name or two will surface soon for our visitors

August 11, 2012
Osborne Park Saint Karl Vandersluys will play for the Kalamunda Tigers for the upcoming season. Karl has been a little unlucky in his time at Osborne Park when we look at his record, it shows he was rarely in a losing rink when selected to play Premier League but the strength of the Saints 16 who won 3 premierships and a National Premier League title was such that he was unable to hold his place on a regular basis despite playing some ripper games.

He is typical of the type person who plays at Osborne Pk where the Club always comes first. Karl made his mark this earlier in the past season with a win in the Club Pairs in a strong field.

Karl who lives at the bottom of the Kalamunda hill now works in the Midland area and his young son Casey who is a promising young cricketer, plays in the Eastern Hills area, makes it hard for him to get to OP on a Saturday.
Osborne Park have lost a very respected and much liked person, we wish him well for the future

August 1, 2012
The Hilton Hawks are having a bad trot at the moment, we have heard on the grapevine that the Club is under pressure player wise with several non starters from last seasons one White side that was relegated to One Blue Sth for the new season.
Luke Garbutt will not be playing due to family reasons, no doubt a huge loss, he is a player with vast experience and will be hard to replace, his work off field for the Club has been outstanding. Good news for the Hawks is Luke will not be leaving the Club.
Already the Hawks have seen the departure of Kieran Cousins and Mick Musilin who have returned to their previous Club Cockburn, and Travis Simpson unavailable for family reaasons
Others who have been mentioned to have left are Eades who has gone to Riverton/Rossmoyne, ? Bancroft and Steve Novak

There are several promising young bowlers at the Club who will have to learn quickly if the Hawks are to stay in One Blue Sth

August 1, 2012
The Manning Eagles have continued to build their list and have signed up Frank Carbone who played for Stirling last season. Frank is a real competitor and will slot into the side probably as a two or three. Drawing the shot is his speciality and more so when the pressure is on.

Manning with their good list of recruits, Steve Withers, Rob Tiller, Peter Ker, Paul Butler, Farley Anderson, Frank Carbone are all quality players combined with their Million $$ grass will test most Premier League sides this season.

July 31, 2012
Cockburn have regained former player Kiren Cousins who has been playing for the Hilton Hawks, this is another good signature for the Roosters.
It would seem that Cockburn's star is on the rise, this is the 3rd player to return to the Club this season and no doubt their arrival is creating much needed depth. The other players to return are Steve Cerf and Mick Musilin

.

July 31, 2012
Innaloo Redbacks won promotion to One White for the upcoming season have recieved some welcome news, Ben Poggi who played at Stirling for the last couple of years has returned to the Club and sure to be a good addition to the side tho it might be hard for him to break into the side initially.

.

July 30, 2012
FACT
Newly promoted Manning Eagles have signed Kalamunda Tiger Farley Anderson. No doubt this is a great signature to have coming into the new season.
Farley is a respected player who has been at the business end in many of the major events over the past four seasons or so is not only a very good player with plenty to offer in any position he plays (he can play them all) but also is a gentleman on and off the green.

Manning are certainly winners here with him joining the Club.

Over the years he has been a very solid player who it seems is ever improving his game so much so he was a winner of last seasons Doubleview Master Pairs and those who were in attendance would have been impressed with his outstanding pinpoint performance.

It has been quite sometime since Manning last played in the Premier League, It has been a good story for the Club who have been threatning for sometime to accomplished Premier League status and finally achieving it.

The Manning Eagles have plenty to look forward to in the coming season

July 27, 2012
FACT
Doubleview won on two counts here after gaining the signature of Kalamunda Tiger Mr nice guy Big bustling Billy Brandsma, firstly a gentleman thru and thru and secondly, a very good player.

Billy has often displayed his ability over the seasons. A good showing in the Doubleview Master Pairs in 2011 made people sit and take notice that his style of play and temperament was capable of winning a major title, that judgement was almost on the money when he stood out in a high class game playing in the 2011-12 State Pairs, when he played in the semi-final, losing the game by just the one shot to play in the final.

The easy going Billy Brandsma is one of the nicest people you would find, no doubt he will add plenty of grunt in all departments of the game to the PowerHouse.

.

July 27, 2012
Mystery surrounds where Morley Maverick skipper Mark Callcott will play this season. We did say very early in the off season that perhaps the Manning Eagles could be the club he would line up playing for.
Word now is he could be heading for Osborne Pk but nothing official in that rumour or perhaps it might be playing for the Cambridge Knights who were Premiers for season 2012 .
No doubt about his ability which he has plenty of and would have no difficulty playing Premier League

It will be interesting to see where he lands up, it is all is in the lap of the God's as to where he will play this season.

.

July 26, 2012
Stirling player Mick Musilin is heading back to the mighy Cockburn Roosters for the new season, Mick is a rock steady lead and will most definetly add some grunt to their One White side.

They have now picked up two good recruits allbeit that they are former Cockburn players, the other recruit is Steve Cerff.
Cockburn are looking to continue their march up the grades and perhaps look for the halcyon days when they dominated the Premier League competition for many years, there is still some way to go if that were to happen but good to see them up and about to bolster their sides and become a force once again.

July 21, 2012

Hilton Hawk Travis Simpson informed me that due to family reasons that he won't be playing pennants for Cockburn or Hilton Park in the 2012/13 season.

Travis has been a very good player in the past having done well with wins in the State Triples and the Doubleview Master Pairs. One game he wouldnt forget also was his win over Anthony Provost in the State Singles when he was down 10-17 and got up to win 21-18, that is some sort of win considering that AP has four State Singles Titles to his credit.

Family always comes first, we wish Travis all the best for the future and hope to see him back when family commitments allow.

Well it is official, John Berecz has joined Innaloo Bowling Club. The Redbacks won promotion to One White for the up coming season and would be pretty happy that John has signed up.
He has shown that he is a quality player and verified by his Champion of Club Singles Champions win back in May. He will add depth and grunt to the side who will have a battle on their hands to remain in this division.

.

July 19, 2012
One rumour that has been getting around regards Champion of Club Champion singles winner John Berecz, we flagged earlier that he could be heading to Doubleview, since then there has been talk he could be signing up with Innaloo but so far it has not been confirmed.

.

Latest news on the bowling scene is former Wannero Skip Stein Davies has joined Osborne Park Saints.
Speculation was rife earlier in bowling circles at the end of last season when Stein had notified Wanneroo he would not be hopping with them this season. There were some suggesting he might line up in a Lion shirt for Bassendean or perhaps playing for final four place getters Stirling.

That speculation ended this week when he joined Ossy Pk Saints

It is going to be very interesting come selection time at the home of the mighty Saints who have 3 premierships and one National Premier League title and runner up over the past 5 seasons. They are well endowed with skippering talent when we see the likes of Kevin Pickering, John Goddard, Wings Evans, Steve O`Neil and combined with the return of the outstanding Gary Caffell .
Osborne Park finished on a high note in what was a disappointing season with a draw against who were to be eventual Premiers, the Cambridge Knights.

The selection of the opening 16 is sure to create a lot of interest. No doubt it is going to be a difficult task for the selectors

Sth Perth Miller are on the move with the signature of Danny Penman now on the books. Danny Penman a former Cockburn Premier League player, last played in this division in 2007-8 is on the comeback trail and will line up for the Millers in the upcoming season.
During his time in the Premier League he filled all positions except the skippering role. He was a player who appeared ready to take the next step with good displays in major events which included winning the State Pairs in 2006-7 with Steve Srhoy. A place in the State side was perhaps a consideration.

With a commitment to his very young family he couldn't put the time and dedication required to play at the top level and quit the Premier League to play much much closer to home at Thornlie in One White.
It will be a challenge for him to see if he can recapture the great form he had back in the days at Cockburn some six years ago. If he can do that he will be an asset to the Millers.

Sth Perth been doing their best to improve their list since they broke into Premier League and did make the final four in 2009, they finished in 7th position last season just 3½ points off relegation and will be looking to improve on that showing in the new season.
The recruitment of Danny Penman might help them achieve that

.

June 19, 2012

The latest on player movements is that concerning Valley player Joe Rollnik who announced he would be lining up with the Basseendean Lions this coming season.

Joe had a stellar 2011-12 season, He made the semi-final of the Mt Lawley Singles which is a pretty fair effort, then followed that up with a great performance to be runner up in the DV Master Singles with Linton Pike who will now become a team mate.

During those events Joe had to knock over quite a few top end players including some that have been touted as State players which leaves no doubt as to his ability.

Not sure that Joe will initially get the job as a skip at Bassendean but he certainly has the capability to do the job. One way or the other Joe will add some much needed depth to the Bassendean line up

There has been much speculation that perhaps 2012 Premiership winning skipper the Jones Boy could become a Lion but nothing has eventuated so far on that front and other speculation regarding Stein Davies as to whether he will sign up with the Lions, so far has come to nothing at this stage.

It is very clear that Bassendean who just survived in their first season of Premier League will need to attract a couple more quality players if they are to stay in the mix for season 2012-13.

.

June 7, 2012
All is quite on the Western front as far as rumours and player movements are concerned except to say that we have heard Dave Farley has joined Vic Park, Scott Edmonds has rejoined Doubleview which is very old news and as mentioned previously Cody Packer will also play for Doubleview

.

May 25, 2012
Manning are in the news once again. It was reported earlier that Wagin star player Warren Holt might be playing PL with Manning. At the time we did say it was a rumour but we are aware that Manning certainly laid out the welcome mat and encouraged him to join them, and for good reason when we see that not only is he a terrific player but a top class fellah.

Warren will not be be coming to the big smoke to to play for Manning this season which is unfortunate. Perhaps it might occur some time in the future, he is a natural who be a very good player in the PL

.

May 24, 2012
Mosman Mozzie Steve West is on the move, while we had the wrong info at the start of the week we think we now have the right info.
The affable big Fellah who is great mates with Browny, is rumoured to be signing up with the Armadale Storm. With Steve West likely added to their list it is possible to see them go thru the season undefeated.

Steve is a talented leader and can play the other positions well, exactly what position he would play is unclear at the moment.
A rapid rise up the grades is very likely from here when we take into consideration the Storm already have signed up Martin Bigg, Rob Foy, Mike Trojac and now Steve West.
Perhaps a more suitable name could be the Armadale Hurricanes because they will be in Premier League in two seasons

May 24, 2012
It is probably old news now but for those that are not aware Peter Ker, a previous State Pairs winner and current Doubleview Master Pairs title holder will play for the Manning Eagles this coming season. He will join up with his DV master pairs partner Matt Mitchell who was is a former Doubleview player.

Peter lives just 5 minutes from the Manning Bowling Club and his dad also is a Manning player.

May 22, 2012
A lot happening of late on the rumours scene, so far plenty of movement of players from one Club to another.
Another rumour that has come my way is that concerning Wanneroo's Wayne Neilson. It was reported earlier that he was heading to Bassendean and we wern't far off the mark with that call .
However Wayne who was not at anytime committed to play at Bassendean has made a decision and informed me that Osborne Park would be his new home for the upcoming season.
It will be a tough gig getting a spot in their top side with so many talented players combined with the likely return of Gary Caffell and Dave Appleton along with the Paul Pendergast who was injured in the last half of last season.
However at his best Wayne is a handy player who might force his way into the top side.

May 21, 2012
Manning Eagles eyeing off a place in the four in their first season back in the Premier League have snared Victoria Pks quality player Paul Butler which will add plenty of grunt to the 16

The big Butt has proved without a doubt his value to any side playing as a 3rd. One Premiership so far playing with Osborne Park, when he played a starring role and what a time to play so well, his performance went a long way to making sure the flag would stay at Osborne Pk.
No doubt Paul Butler will be just what the Dr ordered for the Manning Eagles who are already looking like they are already ready for their debut game in season 2012-13
How many more players will the Eagles add to their squad I am not sure of but I reckon the Eagles recruiting people are not finished just yet.

May 21, 2012
Travis Simpson apparently will not become a Rooster, so we have heard. However that does not discount the fact that he will not be flying with the Hawks this coming season.
Sooooooooooo where will this Hilton Hawk be nesting next season?

.

May 17, 2012
Travis Simpson is no longer flying with the Hilton Hawks, that is what they are saying around the Clubs. The goss is he will become a Rooster, a Cockburn Rooster.
Cockburn are on the prowl and looking to enhance their playing list and Travis one such person who can do that.
The former Doubleview Master Pairs champ and also a State Triples champ as well would be a wonderful player to acquire.
Cockburn would love to return to the halcyon days when the Club was THE Club here in the West.
Already looking better with the return of Steve Cerff , add Travis Simpson to the mix and who knows, maybe a couple more quality players, we have a stronger Cockburn Rooster 16 who are preparing to do well in One White this season

.

May 16, 2012

Manning Eagles are back in the bigtime, it has been a while since the Club with the great Million $$$ grass has played in Premier League. The arrival of Steve Withers and Rob Tiller has given the club list a boost...

Another rumoured to be joining is Wagin's Warren Holt, one of the better Country players going around. He would be a wonderful addition to Manning list.

It was a rumour last season that he and and a couple of others would be coming to Manning but it was a false rumour

However I am not able to confirm if it is true that it will happen this year, but it has been passed onto me by 4 different sources.
Lets hope for Manning Eagles sake it does eventuate, Warren is a quality person and a wonderful player, who could forget his magnificent performance in Country Allstars V State squad when he played above and beyond to defeat Rhett Butlers rink with a 10/10 performance.

With his dad Fabluous Freddy Holt already playing at Manning it would be an ideal time to maker the move to the big smoke to play Premier League

May 16, 2012
Another rumour that landed on my desk is regarding the up and coming Dave Farley who has made the Bowling world sit up and take notice over the past six months or so.
There is no doubt he is on the move from the Kwinana Klippers and the word I got was he will play for Victoria Park. Can't confirm it is true but that is the latest rumour concerning the W.A section PBA World Pairs qualifier

.

May 9, 2012

Armadale Storm, what a name and certainly the right one for the current times. The Storm won their way from second division to play in One Blue South next season. It has been some time since we have seen the Armadale Storm in 1st division

The latest word we have is Kardinya skip Rob Foy will play for the Storm next season. Rob has upped stumps after a six year association with the Kardy Kats stating that he really loved his time at the Club, however he lives just 5 minutes from the Armadale Bowling Club and will save a lot in travel time.
The highly thought of Rob Foy will no doubt be quite an asset, he has all the skills required to play at the top level, so much so he made the State Squad this year.
Another to link up with the Storm is Mike Trojac also from Kardinya, he has displayed often his value to the rink he plays with and he should prove to be a pretty handy recruit.

Another to join the Storm is Chris Roe who has shown plenty of promise and could be handy
These recruits combined with Martin Bigg and the regulars such as Diamond Jim McKenzie, Hugh and Kevin McKay and Daniel Brown will almost guarantee the Storm promotion to One White

.

May 8, 2012
Cody Packer seems to be the main topic in the world of rumours. Firstly we heard that the young fellah was heading over to play with the Saints this season, next we heard he is staying put at Bedford.
The latest mail is the family is heading to Mandurah to live and the latest word is he could be joining Doubleview. It is only a rumour at the moment but something that has found it's way around the clubs

Greg Crisp and Robert Bell live in Mandurah and how easy it would be to come up as a group if such a move were to happen.
Whether or not this will eventuate is in the lap of the Gods and is just talk at this point of time.

There are a couple of Osborne Pk players living down that way also, Gary Caffell and Dave Appleton who could be travelling up and back each weekend to play for the Saints

.

May 8, 2012
Another player that has been talked about that could be on the move is the current Champion of Champion Singles player "Mr Quinns Rocks" John Berecz. Word getting about the Clubs is the Champ could be heading to Doubleview.
It would be a hard task to break into the strong DV lineup but going on the way he played the final day of the Club Champ of Champs, he was all class where his great drawshot was on display combined with a wide array of cleverly weighted shots to make himself a formidable player.

.

May 4, 2012
Sherro ran into Russell "Rusty" Hughes at the Gold Coast, Rusty, a former State skipper left Perth about 2/3 years ago to live there. It was good to see him attend the Sides Series on three of the four days to support the WA State side.

Rusty last played with Yokine about three seasons back and left a very good impression on the Club both as a player and a guiding hand to the younger players
Perhaps some good news in as much that he indicated he could be returning to W.A to live, possibly in September. Not a dead set certainty as yet but certainly not out of the question.
Rusty hasn't played a lot of bowls since his move to the Gold Coast but has been playing in the occasional tournament to keep his hand in.

He instead has joined the Shooters Club where he is enjoying the challenge of a new sport. He indicated that he still loved Bowls and if the move back to Perth eventuates he will get back into bowls where he was a top gun for many seasons and still has a quality bowl or two left in him to play.

.

May 4, 2012
One rumour concerning Cockburn, word has it that Steve Cerff, yes indeed Stevey Cerff a former topliner for Cockburn who hasnt played for 3 seasons is on the comeback trail and will line for the famous Club this season.

A timely move indeed for the Roosters who after a slide down the grades won promotion to One White and it seems are also on the comeback trail and on the way up the grades ,
the recruitment of Steve Cerff a former topline 3rd in Cockburns good times will be very beneficial to help the Roosters to make it back into Premier League.
Are there other players that could be enticed to play for Cockburn. Watch this space

.

April 28, 2012
Champion of Club Singles Champions runner-up Alex Burt and also a good performer in the Country Week Singles has become a Kalamunda Tiger . He walked into the club in January and joined up, it is possible he could be playing for Kalamunda Premier League next year if work committments allow it. He will be a very handy acquisition

.

April 28, 2012
Another rumour to crop up, there is strong chance that Allan "Whiskas" Grieves, a country boy from Yunderup may front up leading for Stirling for the coming season.

His impressive record includes the last four years as consecutive Singles Champion at Yunderup and the last two years on the trot a League Singles Champion in the Murray League.

Not bad when you look at that record, looks to be a goodie if Stirling can lure him up to the big smoke.

April 27, 2012
More on Stein Davies, word has been getting around the Clubs that the Steiner could actually be heading on a safari to Lion Country up Bassendean way.
Wayne Neilson has stated he will play there this season so it would make sense to see he and Stein join forces once again after their great performance to save Wanneroo from demotion. This is of course only a rumour at this stage

.

April 18, 2012

Wanneroo champ Stein Davies has signaled he is leaving Wanneroo but where he might land up is anyone's guess at this stage.
A Club that might become his new home is Stirling and that might just the right fit for Stein who played such an important role in saving Wanneroo from relgation.

With the possibilty of Stirling losing both the Krajancic brothers (tho neither is dead set certain to leave), and whether or not Matt Ellul is going back to Victoria, there is no doubt Stirling would be on the lookout for a quality skipper or two.

April 18, 2012

More talk going on in the bowling world is that Stirling might lose a few players. One player mentioned is that Mark Krajancic might be on the move, but nothing certain at this stage, it is the talk that is getting around the Clubs at the moment.

April 18, 2012
Well we can say that we have had our first flat tyre and a perhaps a puncture as well.
A very good source did tell me that Magic Martin Bigg, the ex Mosman Mozzie was not going to go to Armadale but would join Warnbro.
I have since been informed by Martin himself that this information was incorrect and indeed he was or has signed up with newly promoted Armadale Storm, who will play in One Blue Sth division.

The Armadale Storm is home to players such as Jim "The diamond" McKenzie, Hugh McKay and Daniel Brown to name a few.

We did say in our earlier blurb that Martin, a very experienced 3rd, would be a handy player for Warnbro so there is no doubt he will be a more than handy player for Armadale who at first glance look good for immediate promotion to One White..

The other one we reported on was Matt Ellul, he stated after the Stirling V Vic Park semi-final he was going back to Victoria, when asked why he replied " that is home, that is where I live". OK, that is simple enough to understand.
Matt informed me at the Champ of Champs that I got it wrong, he claims to have said "I MIGHT be going back to Victoria. Well I am not going to get into a He said I said so for now we will let the matter rest.

April 17, 2012
There has been plenty of talk about Manning for the new season, We, along with the majority of Bowlers have been aware that Rob Tiller and Steve Withers have joined Manning.
The latest on Manning is another Mosman Mozzie, Ryan Hawke is also set to join the Mannining Eagles, it had been reported earlier on radio 91.3 SportFM that he was likely to join Armadale.

Is that the end of the Manning recruitment of players? maybe not, Another rumour that has surfaced around the clubs and being talked about is that concerning Cambridge skip Pieter Harris, they are saying he could be off to join Manning, but remember it is only a rumour and we are not able to confirm it is true or untrue, time will tell if the rumour has legs or not.

April 13, 2012
One rumour that most have heard is one concerning Tony Krajancic, what is being said around the Clubs is the Stirling maestro has signed up to play for Kardinya who were demoted from Premier League after a one year presence.
It was interesting to note in response to a letter in our letters page that the Kracker was full of praise for Kardinya and their playing surface and the shaded roof.
Combined with that he lives in the area and how convenient it would be for him to be able to cut down on the amount of traveling he is committed to to play at Stirling. It sure adds up that the rumour is on the money.

But has the rumouor got legs ?

I spoke with Tony at the finals and he assured me that he has not signed up with Kardinya or any other Club but instead, he is taking time off to reconsider his position traveling to Stirling each week. A decision as to what he would be doing would be made closer the to start of the new season.

There is no doubt that he is the rock at Stirling, he would be an enormous loss to the club combined with the likely loss of Matt Ellul

Tony Krajancic is no stranger to playing in the lower divisions. He left Melville PL side in 2005 to play for Mosman Pk and was responsible for that Club making their first appearance (after years of trying) in the first division in one Gold for many years.
He left Mosman after that one successful season and joined Stirling One Blue in 2007, the rest is history, the Club made the finals and wasn't far of the pace to winning a premiership, as we have said previously the name Krajancic spells success

April 12, 2012

What will Mike Yates be doing next season? It was sad to see the flamboyant Kardinya premier league skip put his bowls back in the locker after round 8 which coincided with a loss against Mosman Park, we are not aware that loss had anything to do with his departure considering the rink was traveling well for their first time experience in PL.
He and his rink remained unbeaten at home and also played a big role in the away win against Vic Park in those 8 games .

He was the best performed skipper in the One White division the year Kardinya won promotion to the PL and was also the best performed skip in One Blue for the Kats before that.
As we can see Mike Yates has had a fair bit to do with the success of Kardinya's drive up the ladder.

When you think that Kardinya were relegated by ½ a point one might tend think his presence for the remaining 10 games would have made the difference (particularly at home games) as to being either in or out of the Premier League

Sherro is no wiser as to why he quit the Club but we are aware he really loved the Club and the players, he stated it was the best Club he had ever played with.

Along the way he was a winner of the Kardinya Club Singles Championship

Michael Yates has now joined Perth and Tattersalls bowling club which at the moment is a quite backwater on the bowling scene.
He has been joined by David Ives another first division player

They will be lining up with John Carter another former Premier player, no doubt the inclusion of Mike Yates will add strength to Perth Tattersalls Second Division side and who knows what lies around the corner for Perth Tatts from here.

April 11, 2012
There has been plenty of talk regarding Cambridge Knights both before and after their magnificent Premiership win.

As far as rumours go, the Jones Boy has come under the spotlight with talk around the Bowling Clubs that he will be heading to Bassendean Lions next season. They definitely could do with a player of his standing and ability which was on display in the finals in abundant supply.

The Jones Boy was not considered for a skippers role for the Knights at the start of the season, rather he was selected to play as a 3rd, a position that he for some reason could not fire up in.

Belatedly he was given key role which played a huge part in changing the course and direction for the Knights. The Jones Boy rewarded the selectors faith in him by returning a great stat sheet of 8 wins 5 losses and a draw.

He also played an important role in both the preliminary and Grand final with a win and a loss against Doubleview's Marquee player Daniel Trewhella.

With the that sort of form it makes the Jones Boy valuable property and one the Bassendean Lions could use to advantage in their endeavours to not only remain in the PL but perhaps aim for a spot in the four, depending what else eventuates in the off season

One major reason behind the talk of a possible change of Clubs for the Jones Boy is he lives not far from Bassendean, no more than a 5 minute drive.
The other angle is his friendship with Justin Opie and what a coup for Bassendean if this rumour regarding the Jones Boy proves to be correct.

April 10, 2012
A rumour that has found its way around the Clubs for the past two weeks or so regarding Stirling isn't a rumour at all.

Matt Ellul is returning to live in his home State of Victoria. Yes that is true, he told me as much at the conclusion of the first semi-final against Victoria Park. It will bring to a close the bowling chapter of his association in W.A bowling scene.

When he arrived in W.A it was a case of Matt Who! however it wasn't long before he made a huge impression on local bowlers, coming under notice when he won a trip to Tweed Heads to Play in the Aus Open sets play, and followed that up with a brilliant pennant season for Sth Perth enabling the Club to make the finals for the first time in many years.

The loss of Matt Ellul who was recruited to play for Stirling in the season just passed, is huge as far as Stirling are concerned.
A slow start to the season for his new Club was worrying but that was overcome in the last half of the season when the rink he skippered came home with a withering finish winning 6 of the last 8 rounds and also winning his first semi-final game against Thomas Mitchell to give Stirling every chance possible to play in the preliminary final which they failed to do .
he is a very talented player who can win a game off is own bowls and has often done so.

Matt Ellul has consistently been in the top four of the Premier League best skippers list apart from this past season. Matt Ellul has plenty of good bowls yet to come and we will watch with interest to see what unfolds for him in the future

April 6, 2012
During this past pennant season Bedford's Cody Packer stated on radio 91.3 sportFM that he would be leaving the Club at the end of the season. He seemed quite adamant it was definitely going to happen, he didn't say where he would be playing next season

Word has been getting around the Clubs that Cody Packer was going to join the Osborne Park Saints for the upcoming season. A good move for the young fellah who is currently a State leader and has done a very good job for the rink he played in

Cody has never played Premier League, there is no doubt at all of how much it would increase his ability and knowledge of the game playing pressure bowls each week.
Latest we have heard is he has decided to remain with Bedford which is commendable, considering they have won their way back into One White.

We have heard rumours before regarding young Cody, at the beginning of last season it was rumoured he would be playing for Vic Park but that never eventuated.

I guess it is to early to tell what will happen as to whether or not he remains a Bull os becomes a Saint.

April 5, 2012
One rumour that has been getting around the Clubs is that regarding Jon Sharp, the Premiership winning skipper for Cambridge.
The rumour during the season was he would head on over to Sth Perth to play for them next season, we can't verify there was any truth to that rumour but that was what was being passed around.

Son, Ashley joined Sth Perth this season past, and played every game. It would seem quite a logical move, Father and Son at the same Club.

Jon has relocated back to Merredin and one might wonder if the long trip down to Perth each weekend would be a little taxing and he would play in Merredin instead.
However he would be a great acquisition for the Millers if the rumour is correct and especially after his bumper season with Cambridge. I guess we will have to wait to see what Jon will do, play for either Cambridge, Sth Perth or Merredin

April 4, 2012
There have been many rumours over the past 4 weeks. Because the Bowling season was still in full swing Sherro wasn't about to put any of them on site.

Everyone is aware that Mosman Pk will lose several players some are saying up to 12 players. Time will tell what the actual figure will be.

One we heard is Martin Bigg is off to the Warnbro Wizards who won promotion to One White. He will be handy for them.

April 4, 2012
Mike Nilson, one of the nicest people you could wish to meet and lives at Comet Bay, Mike announced at the annual windup he will not be lining up for Osborne Park Saints next season. Living in Comet Bay involves a lot of travel.
However next season is a long way off, who knows,, he might well be lured to play for either Warnbro or a Mandurah side and if he does he will be a great acquisition.
WE HAVE SINCE BEEN INFORMED BY MIKE, HE WILL BE NOT BE PLAYING AT ANY CLUB NEXT SEASON WHATSOEVER

April 4, 2012
Wayne Neilson has left Wanneroo and we hear he is heading up Bassendean way.

Wayne a former Morley player played at Wanneroo with mixed fortunes, his first season saw a great performance when he was right up there with the leading skippers, but faded toward the end of the season missing the last two games.

This season things didn't go as well as the season before, but he could break into the Basso Lineup, at his best he is a pretty handy player.
