Bedford (6) beatVictoria Park(2 ) ..........86/
67..
With all the talk about what happened this week regarding the Bedford Bulls
and the replacement of Lance Strahan as sole selector by Pieter Harris, was
put to rest yesterday
This contest was very
important
for the Bulls in the circumstances of the past week or so, none the less, Victoria
Park were more than aware also of what was at stake.
Lance Strahan and his rink returned to form with a resounding win to help in
the victory today

The Jones Boy { skip}, B. Richardson. Paul Hunter,
J. Carlsen-----15
R. Wishart {skip}, K. Pickering, C. McNeil, G.
Hiskens--------------16
Rooster Wishart and his rink have done what only
one rink before him has done, beat The Jones Boy's rink. The margin was
small
but
none
the less, a win is win and of course there is a far different feeling between
a one shot win compared to a one shot loss. looking at the score sheet
it shows 7/7 on the 9th end and from there it remained a tight
hard contest where every shot counted and we saw the score 11/10 for
Rooster on the 14th end, He and his boys from that end on built up a considerable
lead in the context of a low scoring game to lead 16/10 on the 18th
end. A bit of razza ma tazz from the Jones boy's rink where they scored
a 2,1,2 and saw them fall short to lose 15/16
Best for the Victoria Park was leader Geoff Hiskens

A great result for the new selector at Bedford, Pieter Harris. Don't let
that great Pieter Harris smile fool you, he is a deadly earnest person who
wants results.
Well that is what he and the rink have achieved playing the best performed
rink at V.P over the past 6 games. The resulting scoreline is a surprise
considering past performances for Mark's rink.
Pieter led 9/1 on the 8th end 16/4 on the 11th end, 20/5 on the 14th end
and from there on we saw Mark and his boys win the next six ends to be 12/20
down with one end to play, the disaster struck to see Mark's rink drop 7
shots on the last end and Pieter win 27/12
Best for Bedford was the leader Keith Manton
The best for Vic Park was the second Jim Finlay
===========================================================
J. Opie{skip},D. Florence ,P. Long, T. Reid---------------------21
S.Bainbridge {skip}, J. Trewhella, M. Lemos, M. Trewhella.--17
Justin Opie always represents danger and also we see that the very highly
thought of Dave Florence has returned to play for Victoria Park and this
a big plus
for them.
Justin and his rink jumped out of the blocks a little slowly to 0/4 down
after 4 ends. what a transformation from that time on.
They won the next
10 ends
to lead 18/4. WOW what can anyone do from here? Well Stu and the rink dug
deeep, and strike paydirt they did, keeping Justin scoreless and losing 17/21.
A very commendable effort in the circumstances. Stu had a team meeting during
the game and asked all players to consider the consequences if they could
not change the look of the scoreboard. It must have had some affect to be
able to reel in that total an be 4 shots short at the end of play losing
17/21.
best player for Vic Park was leader Matty
Trewhella
best player for Vic Park was leader Tom
Reid

This is the best result that could happen for
Lance Strahan. A big and much needed win, in fact it was his second win for
the season as skipper.
A quick start saw Lance leading 8/1 on the 4th end, then to lead 12/10 on
the 8th end. The 13th end it was still close 17/14 and from there on they
got away to record a very good win 29/18.

The above rinks show the reason for the PowerHouse win against Cambridge.
Last season Kyle McIlroy and this rink terrorized the opposition, winning by
big margins in most games. This season they have gone from being Champs to
chumps as the stat sheet shows. Well, last night they turned on full power
with a return to playing at their top, to overwhelm Brian Kat and score this
magnificent victory for Doubleview.
A spectator spoke with me last night and said that he could see that Kyle McIlroy
was going to win at the very beginning of the game, just by looking at his
body language.
Sherro did say that his rink were the easy beats at Doubleview and that was
of course based on their stat sheet, which showed 3 wins 7 losses minus 23
shots aggregate and as far as I am concerned it is a fair call.
O K This rink
has two state players, Kyle, and Bruce who has recently withdrawn from the
state squad along with Aaron Delaporte and a solid leader Gary Papadopulous.
The PowerHouse are in almost top spot and have achieved this without a lot
of help from this rink till last night. Well they have repaid in full to win
this game for the PowerHouse and great to see the rink perform to their ability.
The
best player was Aaron Delaporte who played a blinder and was closely followed
by
Bruce Urqhart.
Kyle McIlroy Doubleview (pictured) had a great game against
Cambridge with several telling bowls
Scotty Edmonds did the impossible when he replaced John Rainoldi, who was
injured, as skipper of this under performing rink to notch up a win against
the top rink of Robbie Ball to win 22/19. Scott Edmonds played a superb game
as skipper and perhaps the rink might start winning more games than it has
with him at the helm.
Robbie Ball did the wrong bias trick, he was holding 5 and let one go only
to find it kept on going out out out and right out.. Even the champs do
it, so it make me feel a lot better having managed a few wrong bias's
in my time.
Trystan Smallacombe took care of business against the second leading PowerHouse
rink of Pat Buller with a handy win 21/14
Ron Stockton also won a great game against John Slavich who's rink bought about
the first defeat for the Jone Boy last week. The word is that John Slavich
played a great game and his rink has managed to keep the good form going. Ron
won 18/16
POWERHOUSE QUOTE " Sensational Sherro, a
great game and terrific atmosphere.
Night bowls is a great concept, and I am loving it here at Doubleview." Ken
Screech

Wanneroo (8) DEF Leeming(0)...............92/74...
The Wanneroo Express took this game out with a magnificent performance against
a quality team.
Playing at home for the first time this year on a green
that was running 16/17 seconds the Roo's got away to a bad start where the
rinks of Stein Davies and Geoff Ellis were getting a bit of a hammering. At
around the 40th end Wanneroo was about 25 shots down on the major scoreboard.
Geoff Ellis was 7/17 down against Bruce Edwards and there didn't seem any
where to go. Well Bruce started to miss some of his running shots and the
front end started to be around the jack. The game took a huge reversal for
Geoff Ellis as they went on to win 28/22.
Stein Davies and his rink were also in trouble
being 9/18 down and fighting back to record a great win over leeming's leading
rink, that of Anthony Provost getting up on the last end scoring a two to
win 21/20. This was a very important win for Stein in the scheme of things
Ron Bates had the hard rink
to contend with, that of Rhett Butler. Ron's rink got away to a good start
and was in control most of the game with the Bates Boys Ron and Russ playing
very well at the backend to ensure victory. Radd Anderson was best for the
vistors. This was a very welcome win for Ron Bates and his rink and now have
the all important stat sheet looking a lot better.
Russ Bates Wanneroo (pictured) Played a very good game
to help in the big win 24/15 against Rhett Butler.
Clive Adams just got over the line to roll Wayne Heldt in a tight hard contest.
Clive's rink won only 8 of the 21 ends but managed to contain Wayne to scoring
mainly ones and his rink picking up almost two and a half shots per end
and forced a victory over Wayne who would have been disappointed to lose
after
winning
13 of
the ends. The score 19/17 for Clive .
Best players for Leeming were Wayne Heldt and Danny Comrie
==================================================
Melville(7) beat Osborne Park(1)..................77/73...
Melville Magic win as expected against Osborne Park but the margin was close,
due the great win of Bill Galloway's rink against the form Melville rink
of Jon Sharp 23/14.
Steve Hughes, wins his second game and beats Wings Evans 18/13 in a tight
game.
Jeff Hall and his rink win a close encounter against a brilliant Daniel Trewhella
19/17
Cameron Girvan and his boys do the job again with a
handy win over Osborne Parks leading rink of John Godard winning 26/20.
The win now give the Magic a big chance to make the finals, however they
must continue to win games against the harder teams, if that happens anything
is possible.
==================================================
Cockburn (6.5) Yokine (1.5)
...................79/
60....
Cockburn simply to strong for a gallant Yokine side
Daniel Brown returned from representing Australia in The Tri Nations and he and
his rink of Mike Zusman, John Ravilich and Peter Novak handed Ian Cooper a hiding,
winning 30/6 to set up the win for Cockburn
Russell Hughes had a tight game and fell over the line against Sid McCann,
there are 21 ends per game so most of the ends only one shot was scored-- it
is the lowest rink score for the year in One Red. Russell won13/12.
Joe Galipo had another draw, this time against Adrian Feltham. 21/21.
Adrian has done well in his role as skipper and one might wonder why it has taken
so long for him to be given a go in the role.
Alan Davis and his rink continue to shine with a good win against Cockburns leading
rink, that of Steve
Srhoy
winning 21/15
This was a very good effort for the Doggies apart from the rink of Ian Cooper
going
down
so
heavily losing by 24 shots and being the difference of the loss
