Finals of the State Triples 2005/6

October 24, 2005
In a game to remember, the composite team of David Opie (skip) Jarrod Rainoldi and Travis Simpson defeated another composite side, that of Keith Robartson (skip) Jo Criddle and Tom Glendenning 18/17.
The game was played in light rain for most of the time and all players contributing for their side with both skippers going bowl for bowl with either hardly wasting opportunities and each responding to pressure play, up until the score was 9/7 in favour of David Opie's team.
From that time on for several ends it was Ken Robartsons team that took control with Tom Glendenning winning the leaders dual and led 15/9.
Jo Criddle was having a huge game and Jarrod Rainoldi kept hanging in with a terrific contribution also.

From 9/15 down for David Opie and down at the head on many ocassions, he played magnificently saving a couple of big scores with outstanding draw shots or the right weighted bowl to keep his teams hopes alive.
The Geraldton team never took their foot off the accelerator and were playing bowls that would win most matches. They won only one end from the 14th end and that was because of David Opie playing so brilliantley.
On the 20th end the score was 17/16 in favour of Keith Robartson, 21st end saw Jarrod Rainoldi plonk two on the jack and they stayed that way even tho Keith played two great bowls that just missed what he was trying to achieve. To all players thankyou for providing the watchers with one heck of a game.
After the game I had a chat to David about this great game, he said it was a terrific feeling to win it and it was "magic to win with two great mates".

FIRST SEMI'S

K. Robartson DEF Rhett Butler 21/13.
This game was a one way street for Keith Robartson and his team. They led 17/4 on the 11th end and tho Rhett Butlers side fought back they were to far behind to win. None the less it was a great effort for them to make the semi's, Rhett Butler gave the opposition full credit for the game they played.
The man of the match was Keith Robartson.

D. Opie DEF K. Pickering 19/16.
A tight game with David Opie down 4/10 on the 11th end and looking like they would never win. From there they charged away to be 17/11 and went on to win 19/16. Again well done to Ken Pickering, Trevor Gerrard and Warren Jones to get to the semi's
