ANTHONY PROVOST defeated LUKE RICHARDSON 25/13
A great performance by Anthony Provost to win the State Singles. Here we see him surrounded by well many wishers after his win against Dalkeith's Luke Richardson. This photo does not properly show just how many people came out onto the ground to congratulate him on his win.

Anthony Provost capped of a wonderful day to win his third State Singles title after defeating Luke Richardson.
It was Luke who got away to a good start bearing in mind this was AP's third game for the day.
Bowling well Luke quickly estabished a handy lead shooting out to a 10-3 lead. Was there an upset brewing here? Well if it appeared that there might be, it was quickly dispelled when after 5 more ends had been played
the score was 10-10. Luke was playing a fine game but AP always found a way to win the ends no matter what the situation.
From here on it was the class of AP that was on show and he never let Luke back into the game with pinpoint bowls and telling drives when used.
The game came to conclusion 25-13 for AP and the win made it 3 State Singles Titles for him and capped off a remarkable day when he had won his second State Fours title.

The Semi finals
Anthony Provost defeated Rocket Rod Heaton 21-20
This was the game of the whole series of the State Finals. Unfortunetly this game was played while the State Triples was being played. Unfortunetly the Triples took second place to the spectators while this mammoth game was in progress.
What a contest
! Rocket had won his way into the final with pure drawshot power and generally was the better player in his games to reach the final
Anthony Provost had a scare from Doubleview's Jim Barry
to win his way into the semi-final winning 21-20
The game commenced after the State Fours had been won By Anthony Provost and his rink.
It was AP who started well leading 4-0 after 2 ends. From here it was RH who established his authority with a sizzling display of drawshot and weight control
to lead 15-8. His lead was aided by collecting two 4's. This was an enthralling encounter with both players contributing to make it a wonderful spectacle. There was no doubt tho Rocket was in control
From 8-15 down AP clawed his way back into the contest inch by inch to make it 14-19 down. AP drove or drew and there were often less than inches as to had shot.
As the game progressed it was AP who was to have the luck, when he was 2 down drove at the shot bowls missed but feather touched his own bowl which moved sideways onto the jack for one shot. The crowd gasped at this peice of fortune. Had that good fortune not occurred AP would not have been the winner. But that is a part of the game. To cut a long story short the score progressed to 20 all.
It was most definetly AP who was in control doing it with outstanding bowls against Rocket who was still bowling extra well
It was such a good game, definetly the best of the State Finals and AP can be regarded as W.A's premier bowler after an outstanding series.

Semi-final two
Luke Richardson got out of the blocks very quickly to lead 16-7 against Rhett Butler and it looked all over with Luke doing as he pleased. From here things changed for Rhett Butler who startet to play with the brilliance we know he is capable of.
The game changed so much so that due to Rhett Butlers dominance he actually got up to lead 20-17 now if that is not a comeback of sorts what is?
Luke somehow regained his composure to come back to win but not before Rhett Butler had killed two ends to save game. A fine win for Luke Richardson to win 21-20
