The State events have seen the emergence of two brilliant players. They are the star performers and one might wonder if they are to be selected for the State side. They would most certainly be in mine.
Scott Edmonds in career best form has been the star of the show in the State series and should be rushed into the State side
-------------
Scotty Edmonds has played way above what he has shown in the past with a sustained run of brilliance. Scotty made the sem-final of the Triples and lost the game on the extra end
Scott will play in the semi final of the singles against Davie Opie who is in red hot form.
Scott will also play in the final of the pairs. His consistencey has been quite amazing.
Another to standout was Matt Elull who has been senational and is a class act, tho he would have control his body language. The great players never display body language to their players. Tidy up that area Matt and the world will be your oyster. Matt Elull is a State player without a shadow of doubt. His record speaks this season for itself.
Marko Krajancic passed judgement by saying Matt Elull is the best player he has seen play since Dennis Katunrich was at his best
Matt Elull has impressed many good judges with his allround ability it is impossible for him not be selected in the State side
--------------
Another highlight was the game between John Goddard and Kevin Pickering in the singles. Those who saw it would agree it was a 100% brilliant game of bowls, rarely do we see the standard that was presented. John, Last years winner and Kevin the current Country week Singles champ were awesome.
The Bowl played by Nick Reagan against Anthony Provost was the best produced for sometime and it was the circumstances that he bowled it made ever much the better.
One down and so little room to operate
he stopped 2 inches from the jack to win the game and advance to the final.
The big comeback by Travis Simpson 10/17 down against Anthony Provost and won 21/18 would not be thought possible by many.
The other big comeback was by Stu Bainbridge who was 10/0 down against Daniel Trewhella and got up to win 21/19 with a sensational bowl to take out Daniels 2 shots.
