Please find attached a membership application/renewal form for the Professional Bowls Association Australian Branch. Nomination fee for new members is $115 and the annual membership renewal fee is $135 ($250 all up for new members). This membership entitles you the right to participate in separate qualifying events for five major World Bowls Tour Events in the UK including:
World Indoor Singles - England
World Indoor Pairs - England
International Open Singles - England
Scottish International Open Singles - Scotland
Welsh International Open Singles - Wales
Successful qualifiers from Australia will win the right to play in these events in the UK with travel costs subsidised. You will also be guaranteed prize money even if you lose the first round in the UK! Last year Australia had four qualifying spots for the World Indoor Singles, two spots for each of the remaining three singles events and one spot in the World Indoor Pairs.
Kelvin Kerkow won his way through these qualifying events in past years and gained enough World Ranking points to be invited back to each tournament on the Tour. Last year Brett Wilkie & Steve Glasson qualified through Australia for the International Open with Steve reaching the semi final and Brett reaching the final.
Qualifying events will be held in Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capitol Territory, Western Australia and Victoria from May - June. Each venue will be required to obtain a minimum amount of members for qualifying to take place, dates and venues will be confirmed in the near future. The winners from each qualifying area will come together at a National Final during August.
Nominations close on the 19th March and the ratio of National Finals spots for each qualifying venue will be worked out according to membership numbers in each area on this date.
The PBA is open to men and women with invitations given to the best performed women members throughout the World to play in the World Ladies Matchplay and World Mixed Pairs events. (Carmen Anderson from Australia was invited this year after winning enough games in the Australian PBA qualifying events last year).
Membership of $135 a year broken down into five events equals $27 for each event, with first prize the right to represent your country in a World Bowls Tour event in the UK, guaranteed prize money and subsidised travel.
