ROUND TWELVE
Round TWELVE is as big as it gets with three huge games that could determine the shape of final four for the rest of the season if results go to the form sides
Cambridge face their moment of truth for season 2008/9 when they play the Vic Park Reds in a game where Russell Hughes has been replaced as skipper
Wanneroo are on a roll and a win against the Doubleview PowerHouse will go a long way toward them playing finals becoming an almost certainty
Cockburn have their backs to the wall and have to win against a rampant Sth Perth Millers 16
Dalkeith SilverTails and the Yokine Doggies are last and second last, both will be demoted, a win for either could see them avoid the Wooden Spoon
Kalamunda Tigers have a task on their hands at home when they play the top side Osborne Park Saints at Kalamunda.
Gary Caffell has been as steady as the Rock of Gibraltar for the Saints this season. Gary has wonderful temperament and his last bowl win for the Saints against the Doggies earlier in the season was testament to that.

D. Rankin (sk),P. Caffell,R.Lawrence, P.Pendergast
J.Goddard(sk),I. Payne, B.Galloway,D.Appleton
Kalamunda have been disappointing. They have lost their last two games, Sth Perth Millers on saturday and Cambridge Knights on Sunday. It always seems that an oppostition rink can grab a Tiger rink by the tail and blown them away and generally cost them a chance of victory
The Tigers home ground record is dismal, one win for the season and that was thanks to a 5/3 result.
At this stage Kalamunda still have to be on their game with 7 rounds left. Demotion remains a possibility but not likely.
The Tigers have made a few changes, Rick Eddy is not available for this game but will be back for the next one. Vince Beckley has swapped thirds position with Farley Anderson
and Tony Natalotto come into the side.
Osborne Park Saints are the top side and for good reason with all rinks contributing to the effort up to this point of time.
Both John Goddard and Dave Rankin were beaten for the first time last week but the other two rinks, Kevin Pickering and Gary Caffell covered showing that it is a 4 rink team.
If Kalamunda win it will be the biggest upset of the season.

D. Opie (sk),M. McGann,T. Walsh, G. Kane
Victoria Park fired a shot across the bow of the Osborne Saints last week to signal that the Premiership flag is not done and dusted yet.
The rink of Russell Hughes was well beaten last week and the Reds backroom boys have analyzed the situation and things have changed on that rink.
The front two bowlers Greg Quann and Brenton Scott would have to lift if the rink is to succeed.
It sure makes a lot of hard work for the backend if they get beaten up front
Changes are Jeff Mitchell to skip and he impressed last season as a skip and last week he contributed to the win against the prevously unbeaten John Goddard rink.
Anthony Provost will take over Russell Hughes rink
Apart from that, the other rinks are ticking over like clockwork, the best move at Vic Park was to put James Jaworski playing three for Rhett Butler and has paid a good dividend .
Cambridge will face their moment of truth here in this game. Will the Knights be able to take the big end of the points. The Knights won comfortably in very windy conditions on their carpet 91/57 in the first round.
The big play makers for Cambridge
are the Jones Boy and Pieter Harris while David Opie has been 50/50 in rink wins.
With what is at stake and the standard of play presented at Osborne Park last saturday by a losing Reds 16 says that Cambridge Knights will not be able to cut the mustard in this game if they dont bring their very best game with them to Victoria Park.

Cockburn Roosters have had a poor result for effort in their last two games, the have won 6 of the 8 possible rinks losing to Kalamunda and, well you would have to say they are Dalkeith's bunny because they have lost both home and away games to the Silvertails
How costly these losses are when they have picked up 6 points out of a possible 16, most would have selected them to win 7/1 in both games, and be right on the edge of the four and a good chance to progress further.
We are all aware that you never write off the Roosters who have shown on many occasions that when their backs are to the wall is when they produce their best
This will be a tough game, but from somewhere and some how they will have bring up a positive result.
Matt Trewhella has been a valuable player for the Roosters this season playing a a leader

Sth Perth can do no more other than to keep doing what they have been doing and if possible improve on that.
There is one area of concern for the Millers and that is the rink of Scott Walker
who were belted by Neil Payne's rink 29/11 at Sth Perth. However that did happen in their last meeting last season and just maybe Neil had the wood over Scott.
Still, they are going along their merry way and now have the leading rink in the Premier League which is the rink of Matt Elull who had a huge win against Mitch Biglin while Ross Bresland's rink are playing such a vital role in this great season for the Millers had a narrow win,
I think Sth Perth will find Cockburn grass hard to play on and Cockburn will bounce back to win

A true battle of the bottom where the Sivertails playing at home are a good chance to roll the Doggies. After last week's win against the Cockburn Roosters and Tony Skoric the hero of that victory we could expect the SilverTails to continue on and win their second home game this season.
The Doggies we are hearing are not happy campers at this part of the season so the gossip goes.
We see State Selector John Carter who has been skipper for the past 3/4 games has his name missing from this lineup along with many changes to the 16.
Last week the Doggies had the Doubleview PowerHouse in all sorts of bother and a win looked likely when they led by 30 shots.
Rod Heaton's rink survived a big comeback from the big Kat after leading 15/0 (it could have been more) to win 22/18 and once again was the only rink to resist the PowerHouse.

The Wanneroo Express have had a wonderful season so far and after the State events they now have the State Singles Champion Brian Axford and the State Pairs Champion Ron Bates trophy's sitting in the clubhouse to top things off nicely.
Congratulations to these two terrific players.
They face another big test and have prepared for this game with more changes to their lineup which was successful last week against Cambridge.
In comes Geoff Ellis for his first game for sometime and he will lead for new skip Ted Alden who has been a success in the position.
The addition of Geoff Ellis will strengthen this rink and make it all the harder to beat.
Murray Hulbert returns after a spell in the the two's
.
Wanneroo are not afraid to make changes in an effort to make sure they have the best 16 they can possibly get in preparations for a possible finals appearance.
A win here can almost seal a position in the finals.
Doubleview did win last week but were in trouble early and at one stage were about 30 shots down on the major board.
I have recieved many emails and phone contact from people who are concerned that Doubleview PowerHouse have 1/3 representation (5 it was, now 4) in the State side and are languishing in 8th place on the Premiership table.
From here on we could expect to see an overall improvement in the side. They have to play for their pride and this is what should make them dangerous in this game, it does represent a challenge to them
and I expect the PowerHouse with so many State players to respond
