ROUND EIGHT
Round EIGHT brings more interesting games.
A round full of interest where all games have importance in the scheme of things .
The Osborne Park Saints have been marching in since round three, take on the Cambridge Knights at Osborne Park in the game of the day.
Sth Perth Millers are at home and going well at this stage of the season are ready to do the business with an ailing and under strength Doubleview
PowerHouse
The Yokine Doggies look like they are on the road to recovery after last week's performance and will need to consolidate that good performance host a competitive and revitalized Kalamunda Tigers
Cockburn Roosters have surprised the bowling world with two very good victories in their last two games take on Vic Park
Dalkeith Silvertails who showed plenty of fight against Doubleview last week are at home to the disappointing Wanneroo Express
---Mel Lemos played extremely well for Yokine
--
Mel Lemos playing as two last week against Ossy Park was his sides best player in great game against John Goddard's rink
Mel moved from Bedford to Yokine this season and had fitted into the 16 like a glove
Sth PERTH MILLERS v D/VIEW POWERHOUSE
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy S.Kely
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes
S. Walker (sk), K. Pride,G. Reagan , Lyons
N. Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, S. Hamilton, G. Pauling

D. Trewhella (sk) ,R. Dempsey, A. Delaporte, P. Ker,
J. Slavich (sk) C. Slavich, R. Barns, C. Tunstall
P. Buller (sk), D. Katunarich, L. Thorn, J. Bausor
K. McIlroy (sk) B. Urquhart , M. Mitchell, G. Nelson
First game of the round played this Friday night starting at 6.30 PM.
On the form displayed last week by the Millers when they cut the Cambridge Knights down to size, one would think that the ailing Doubleview PowerHouse would be an easy game for them.
However we all know that normally there is no "easy game" in the Premier League and it is not often we see the PowerHouse losing heavily.
Sth Perth have a problem with the Nick Reagan led rinks who have fired just one shot so far this season and the rink is definitely the weak link for the Millers.
What can they do about the rink, Last week the selectors went back to a bit of last years winning rink but it made no difference, I guess they will have to hang in there and hope the rink can come good. As we have said previously this is the best time to try to get the chemistry and balance right but the Millers would need to be settling down to permanent rink structures soon.
Matt Elull and his rink have continued on their merry way
as has Ross Bresland and his boys, their effort has been a major factor in the rise and rise of Sth Perth so far this season.
Interesting to see Scott Walker back calling the shots on saturdays. Last season Scott had a poor stat sheet so it is important that he has taken the next step in the difficult skippers position.
Doubleview PowerHouse are in bother after starting out the season with 2 straight wins. Things are not what they seemed to be at the start of the season.
With Losses to Cockburn, Kalamunda and Wanneroo and a very close shave
last week against the Dalkeith Silvertails doesn't give the tipsters a lot of room for confidence in the current PowerHouse 16.
After 7 rounds we have three PowerHouse skips James Jaworski, Pat Buller and Kyle McIlroy,
who have returned just 3 rink wins, one each out of a possible 12 rink wins.
Obviously that is not a great return for the club and explains why they are struggling and placed in the lower half of the ladder.
we can only assume that the rinks are not good enough at this stage of the season and will need to start to get on the winners list regularly or else they will not be making any finals appearances this season.
If there is failure on friday night, and I suspect there will be, the Selectors must have a rethink on rink structures and make neccessary changes.
John Slavich and his rink are the best performed of the Doubleview rinks while Daniel Trewhella's rink this week have forced changes will still be the rinks that will have to lead the way.
The Loss of Ross Dempsey and Aaron Dellarporte for this game also re-inforces the reasoning why the PowerHouse will have difficulty winning this game.

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS v CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS

Osborne Park Saints are on a roll and traveling pretty well as they say in the classics.
Last week's come from behind win was full of merit
against the Doggies but this week should be a more difficult assignment.
The side has changed yet again with Ian Payne not available this week allowing the return of Graham "Wings" Evans
who played in the two's last week to return his familiar thirds position while Dave Appleton returns to his leaders role after two games playing as a three.
All Osborne Park rinks are going well and playing to abilty and meeting any challenge they are confronted with.
Gary Caffell's rink has returned to being the "G" team and we must make mention of the game he played last week. He was under the pump quite often and showed a lot of skill and great temperament to win the game for the Saints.
Cambridge Knights had a horror game last week and were well and truly caught short.
If the club is to be a genuine contender for the Premiership they will have to something with Trystan Smallacombe's rink.
Trystan Smallacombe led rinks have been the flagship for the Knights for several years and to see that after 7 games they have two wins. Are the front end producing the goods ? is it an overall performance that is not up to the mark. We do not know the answers to that but by gee the rink needs a shake up.
Strange to see three of the rinks all fold at the same time amd only the The Jones Boy's rink stood up for the Knights
A possibe highlight of this game is one of the two unbeaten OP rinks
will meet the Jones Boy and his rink and that will be a highlight of this game if it occurs.

A. Provost(sk), J. Mitchell, C. McNeil, D. Patterson
Who could have been thinking that Cockburn were on the edge of demotion? not ME! was it !!
The last two weeks have once again seen the Cockburn Roosters come to the fore when the chips are down and their backs are to the wall
With this game being played at Cockburn there is some hope for the Roosters, after all the Reds did lose on two rinks at home last week.
Steve Srhoy's rink have made a good recovery and if they can maintain the form of the last two weeks that will go along way toward a possible Cockburn Victory.
Mike Zusman has not lost a game asa player this season and is getting good results since he went to play skip
Gary Carberry had a win last week amd must stay on the that winning form.
Vic Park are going along very well and will once again be depending on Russell Hughes and Anthony Provost to lead the way, pretty much similar to last week.
Rhett Butler's was Victoria Park's best rink last season, 11/5/1
+ 41 this season the rink are a quandry, with such a good lineup it is hard to fathom why the side has such a poor stat sheet 2/4/1 - 24 shots. With figures like this Victoria Park will not win the Premiership, no side can afford to carry a rink when the important games come along.

YOKINE DOGGIES v KALAMUNDA TIGERS
R. Heaton,(sk) , Farrell, Sloan, Coffey
S. Edmonds (sk) J. Carter, I.Coghill, P. Turpin

B Brandsma, F Anderson, P Coyle, M Clancy.
N Griffin, R Eddy, J Morss, T Della.
M Biglin, S O'Neil, T. Price, J Wardrop
The Yokine Doggies did well last week to almost roll the Osborne Park Saints, just missing by one shot in a high standard game. .
They now know what they are capable of acheiving on a saturday afternoon and sure to have increased their confidence no end..
Players who made a difference in the Osborne Park game were Adrian Durrant( a cracker of a game), Rod Heaton (played a telling skippers game) , Darren Kellond (good second's game) Mel Lemos (best on the the rink performance) and Scotty Edmonds (Kept his side in the contest and steady as the rock of Gibralter) .
Rocket Heaton's rink won their first game for the season against good opposition and if the Doggies are to
make a move then a lot depends on what happens with Rocket from here on
Their form was as good as the best from other clubs and they must sustain that form in this contest
if they are to make a serious move about avoiding relegation and moving up the ladder. A loss for the Doggies will put them too far back on the ladder to make a recovery.
Kalamunda Tigers effort last week against Vic Park was commendable, bringing home 2 points from that contest, giving the selectors more optimism for changes to be made, especially to the rink of Billy Brandsma who has been on the end of a couple of big losses and that no doubt doesn't make for a pleasant Saturday afternoon.
Kalamunda have made rink changes in an endeavour to find the right chemistry and balance that will help keep the club out of the relegation zone. They have a slight buffer zone and will be flat out in further increase that buffer in this contest,
Vince Beckley arrived at the club after the 5 game rule and was given a leader's role has now found himself playing three to Neil Payne.
It seems that with two positional thirds changes the Tigers might have been having trouble in this area.
Now with two new thirds, Rick Eddy last week bought success and hopefully Vince Beckley to follow suite.
All up this game should be a ripper of a game considering the prize for the winner.
Yokine take some pressure of regarding relegation, Kalamunda put more space to get away from the relegation zone.

S.Davies(sk), T.Alden, G.Adamini, D.Griffin
Dalkeith Silvertails almost beat the Doubleview PowerHouse last week. The game was decided in the last couple of ends.
The Silvetails havent won at home this season but there is some hope because this will be their 3rd game at home this season
.
Some rink changes have bought about new hope
and a different direction.
The
Marko Krajancic led rink are the best performed team at Dalkeith and will lead the challenge for the silvertails while Luke Richardson has done a great job since taking over a rink.
Tom "The Bomb" Williams
has a good rink and with a little luck could have a better stat sheet than he has at present.
John McIntosh is new to skippering at this level and all reports on his personal game last week are good so it is up to the rest of the rink to get in and play their part.
Where to for the Wanneroo Express ?
Only they know the answer to that but two floggings in games at home have told us plenty about them so far this season.
I have learnt one thing about the Express over the years and that is when their backs are to the wall they produce the unexpected
However the Dalkeith Silvertails have to break thru soon for a home win after having lost their last four games at Dalkeith.
