ROUND SEVEN

Round seven brings more interesting games.

Cambridge are playing to their ability winning their last four games and now take on the carpet Kings South Perth who enjoyed a brief stay on top of the ladder and now occupy 5th place just as Wanneroo did who were on top the week before .

Wanneroo have lost only one game and sit in 4th place play Cockburn who were surprise winners last week. This is a most important game for both clubs

Osborne Park are firing on all 3/4 rinks will play at home on top quality greens and are keen to press onward take on a disappointing Yokine Doggies 16

Doubleview are at home to the Dalkeith Silvertails were surprise losers last week need to win this game against a struggling Dalkeith Silvertail 16 who seem to play better away from their own club

Victoria Park have been in razzle dazzle form are at home to Kalamunda who are an in and out side. Which Kalamunda side will turn up for this game?

---Aj Heal in delivery mode has been in top form
--Aj Heal
Aj Heal from the Cambridge Knights was last years winner of the best player award has been in sparkling touch this season, he and his rink mates have lost just the one game so far this season.

D/view POWERHOUSE v/D/Keith SILVERTAILS

D. Trewhella (sk) ,R. Dempsey, A. Delaporte, P. Ker,
J. Slavich (sk) C. Slavich, R. Barns, C. Tunstall
P. Buller (sk), D. Katunarich, L. Thorn, J. Bausor
K. McIlroy (sk) B. Urquhart , M. Mitchell, G. Nelson

M. Krajancic(sk)J. Morgan R. Donald, V. Colley
T. Skoric (sk), V. Santostefano,W. Tan, S. Back
L.Richardson(sk)McIntosh.O`Meehan,McCormack
T.Williams(sk),M.LindsayR. Mitchell,R.MacKenzie

There have been rink changes to The PowerHouse where we see Prickles Thorn has dropped down to the 2 position and Dennis Kat will play three to Pat Buller.
The big surprise is the return of Bruce Urquhart who is up from Albany and he will play three for the struggling rink of Kyle McIlroy.
The PowerHouse come into this game down on form losing their last 3 games on the trot.

Dalkeith are having a torrid time of it so far on their arrival to the Premier League. There is no consistency to their performances and appear to be on a one way ticket to leave the Premier League after only one season.
Best Rink for Dalkeith is hard to say but what we do Know is Marko Krajancic has been in great form for the Silvertails and his rink stand the best chance of victory
It is all uphill for the Silvertails who have been disappointing considering they lost just one home and away game last season.
No more proof can be provided that there is a huge gap between Premier League and One White if we take into account what has happened so far this season

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS v YOKINE DOGGIES

G. Caffell (sk), D. Appleton, G. King, G. Nicol,
K.Pickering(sk)C. Fleay, DiGuiseppe,R.Couper
D. Rankin (sk),P. Caffell,R.Lawrence, J. Coleman

S. Edmonds (sk) J. Carter, I.Coghill, P. Turpin
E. Dodd(sk) A. Davis, M. Lemos, J. Lorencs
J. O' Keefe (sk),A. Durrant, D.Kellond, Hickman

Osborne Park Saints have charged to the top of the ladder with a very convincing win against the Sth Perth Millers and sending the Millers down to 5th place.
Since the loss of key players from last years side the club seems to have gone from strength to strength with the recruitment of Kevin Pickering and Bob Couper and Colin Fleay.
However players from their One White side have been elevated and have been very successful. enter Rob Lawrence, he has fitted in like a glove and done very well.
The continued brilliance by Bill Galloway playing two in John Goddards rink has been amazing.
All rinks have now settled and doing well.

Gary Caffells rink formerly known as the "G" team and now known as the "G and D" team are gathering momentum. The reason for the "D" is because Dave Appleton played three in place of Graham Evans.

It dosn't pay to be missing for a game because the man who replaces a player who is unavailable has kept his place in the side such is the strength of the Saints. This week Wings Evans who was not available last week in now in the One White side.

Yokine have let themselves down and the competition down last week with an inept performance against the Vic Park Reds and in this game they will find the temperture will be even higher.
I suppose in fairness there were several changes to the Doggies line up last week, however when we look at the front end of Jamie O`Keefe's rink the new players were very experienced players.

Eddy Dodd had his very good rink changed around to cover the missing or dropped players and lost. The sooner that rink is back as it was previously the better for the Doggies.

VIC PARK REDS v KALAMUNDA TIGERS

G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, C. Hayes, G. Hiskens

N. Payne (sk), S. O`Neil, R. Pringle, V. Beckley
B.Brandsma(sk), P. Coyle, M. Clancy, R. Eddy
N. Griffin (sk),J. Morss, P. Natalotto, T. Dellar
M.Biglin(sk)F.Anderson, T. Natalotto, J.Wardrop,

Victoria Park sizzled last week with some great performances against Yokine and will only have to play to their ability to take the majority of the points. They have stability in all rinks and will win this game

Kalamunda Tigers are to in and out and missed a good opportunity to win last week against Wanneroo at home.

We can't totally discount the Tigers but the vast majority of tippers would tip them to lose.
The loss by Billy Brandsma's rink last week was huge by any standard will have to turn it around somehow

Neil Grififin personally was very good last week in his rinks loss, saving many shots. If the rink is to be going somewhere the front end have to lift.

Steve O`Neil playing three for Neil Payne
--Steve O`Neil
Neil Payne and his rink had a good win against Clive Adams and are the best rink at Kalamunda, but even this rink will be pushing it hard to be a winner against the Reds.

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS v SOUTH PERTH MILLERS
T. Smallacombe (sk)N. Lewis, S. Rushforth, B. Kiely
The Jones Boy (sk) , A. Heal,T. Walsh, R. Bolton.
P. Harris (sk), C. Lander,R. Stockton, W. Maher
D. Opie (sk),M. McGann, B. Katunarich, G. Kane

S. Lunn(sk), G. Reagan, S. Walker, T. Percival
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes,
Nick Reagan (sk), K. Pride, S. Hamilton , G. Pauling
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly

Cambridge are bouncing along nicely with all rinks now settled. Last week the knights were challenged on two rinks while the other two rinks did as they were expected to do which ensured the victory
.
Trystan Smallacome has rare figures looking at his stats. The rink has lost it's last 3 games by a combined total of 5 shots, indicating the rink has been right in the contest to force a win but do appear to be vulnerable.

All other rinks are traveling well with a great stat sheet to show for the efforts so far this season

The Sth Perth Millers come into another heavy game, last week Osborne Park Saints, next week Doubleview PowerHouse, and this game against the Cambridge Knights.

This is now the moment of truth for the Millers who have done all that is needed to get where they are now on the table, but can they deliver against the top sides in the competition

Last week I was impressed with Matt Elull and his rink of what I was able to see of that game up till the 11th end.

Matt has his team mates doing their thing, Merv Hughes was good, Mike Trojack played a beauty against the briliant Bill Galloway, Frank Carbone made his presence felt and Matt himself played a ripper. Not seeing the game after the 11th end I don't know how where or why the score blew out to what it became.

The rink only has to play a full game of the first half and it would be a tall order for any rink to topple them
Steve Lunn played plenty of bowls that almost did the job and if he can get them to actually do the job then he will be on the road to a succefull season.

Ross Bresland appeared to be down in confidence and that showed in his game and will need to get back to the previous highs.

At last Nick Reagan and his rink have broken thru for their first win of the season and what a way to get it. 7 BIG BIG BIG shots on the last end.

The good thing is tho the side was generally beaten on the day apart from the the last end, they never gave up persevering and maybe they will start to fire from here on.

So here is the Millers moment, playing away and most likely on the carpet and if the Miller are going to be a force in this competition then they MUST win here or we can forget about their chances of making the four.

They will not meet a stronger team than the Cambridge Knights so lets see if the Millers have will and the skill to bring home the big end of the points

WANNEROO EXPRESS v COCKBURN ROOSTERS

Adams (sk), R.Axford, D.Moore, P.Potts
R.Bates,(sk), G.Ellis, N.Costello, M.Hulbert
R.Humphryson(sk), P.Knight, D.Triffit, H.Ward
S.Davies(sk), T.Alden, S.Alden, D.Griffin

G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, J. Trewhella, S. West
S. Srhoy(sk), G. Catterick , M. Sokol, M. Muslin
D. Brown(sk),K. Cousins,W. Tepania ,, M. Trewhella
M. Zusman (sk), S. Perica J. Galipo, Perry Sardelic

Wanneroo Express come into this game feeling pretty comfortable about where they are at, their win at Kalamunda without Geoff Ellis was the icing on the cake considering what Geoff has done for the Express this season.

They have made changes with the well performed Sorrento Master singles player Brian Axford shifting rinks to play 3 for Clive Adams making Brian the third 3 to play for the Wizard this season

Reg Humphreyson shift to the skipper's role in place of the missing Geoff Ellis paid huge dividends last week and he has been retained in that position.

Ron Bates's rink broke thru for their first win has now got Geoff Ellis playing three where they have been a great combination in the past.

The leading rink of Stein Davies remains unchanged and are now the number one rink in performance so far this season.
From here what counts for the Express is for the Ron Bates and Clive Adams led rinks to start to get some valuable points on the board to build on the great start to their season where the Express have lost only once

Cockburn did surprise last week when the overpowered the PowerHouse down at Cockburn.
I am not aware of any changes to the rinks so I assume the club is happy with that performance.

The big win of Daniel Brown over the rink of Daniel Trewhella was crucial in their win while Steve Srhoy held out a fast finishing Pat Buller rink to draw.
Mike Zusman stepped up to skip a side in the absence of Matt Kurta will be looking for that to keep going
Gary Carberry's rink don't seem to able to crack it at the moment after a draw to The jones Boy and now this narrow loss to John Slavich
The Roosters are feeling the pain of losing to many quality players and that is why they are in the postion they are in now.

This is a must win game for the Cockburn Roosters and they can be heartnened by the fact that Wanneroo in their last home game got flogged.
So it does present them with some hope but you can't live on hope alone
