ROUND SIX
Round six brings some very interesting games.
Sth Perth Millers have been doing their thing and are sitting on top of the ladder after having cleaned up all the bottom sides and now take on a powerful Osborne Park Saints 16 who are doing every thing right at this stage and sitting in second place, this game will start at 3.30 PM.
It should be a terrific contest
Another of the more interesting games is between the KalamundaTigers who played like Sabre tooth Tigers last week smashing premiership fancies the PowerHouse. They take on the Wanneroo Express in a game that will hold much interest
Cockburn are struggling and must soon start to make a move,
they will be home to the Doubleview PowerHouse, I can remember when these games were always the game of the day, not anymore these days.
Yokine Doggies have to do something here when they play Vic Park Reds at home
or it is another set back in their bid to avoid the possibility of demotion.
Dalkeith Silvertails will play the Cambridge Knights at home in game that a loss might consign them to certain relegation
L/R: O.P's Wings Evans and Dalkeith's Ross MacKenzie and Ross Mitchell all very interested in the result of this bowl
It was a great game on this rink with both sides really getting into it and the result in doubt well into the game.

COCKBURN ROOSTERS v/VIEW POWERHOUSE
G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, J. Trewhella, S. West
S. Srhoy(sk), G. Catterick , M. Sokol,
M. Muslin
D. Brown(sk),W. Tepania ,K. Brown,
M. Trewhella
M . Kurta(sk), M. Zusman, S. Perica J. Galipo

D. Trewhella (sk) D. Katunarich, J. Bausor, J. Barry
J. Slavich (sk) C. Slavich, R. Barns, C. Tunstall
P. Buller (sk), L. Thorn, P. Ker, D. Slavich
K. McIlroy (sk) A. Delaporte, M. Mitchell, G. Nelson
Cockburn were beaten by Cambridge last week but they can take something out of their performance, with three rinks leading about 3/4 of the way thru the game .
The return of Matt Kurta to the skippers role certainly made a huge difference and got the Roosters a valuable point.
Steve Srhoy led rinks have not delivered the goods at this stage of the season but it never pays to write off Steve Srhoy who has always come back from adversity.
Daniel Brown has the dual responsibility of selecting the side for Saturday and skippering
a rink suffered his first loss last week after changing his previously succesful rink.
Gary Carberry led rinks have done a reasonable job and were leading against the Jones Boy till that fateful last end. Steve Cerff has been in outstanding form this season.
Doubleview come into this game following their loss against the second bottom side
Kalamunda last week. The loss to Kalamunda was a shock to say the least and to lose on Doubleview grass even more surprising.
Are the PowerHouse as solid as we think they are?
John Slavich is getting the best out of his rink where they had a very good win against Neale Griffin and the PowerHouse will look to them to provide the stimulus to win the aggregate.
Story to come out of the game was the previously unbeaten rink of
Daniel Trewhella who copped a smashing from Neil Payne's rink by 23 shots.
This week Ross Dempsey is unavailable and the word is Dennis Katunarich will make a welcome return to the side and will play 3 for Daniel.
Kyle McIlroy's rink are not winning games, 1 from 4 and have to get into that winning vein. Two of the losses have been by small margins and one a fair size loss.
Pat "BullsEye" Buller took a rink for the first time in a couple of years after the transfer of James Jaworski to Vic Park . It wasn't a happy return with the rink going down by 9 to Mitch Biglin.

Sth PERTH MILLERS v OSBORNE Pk SAINTS
S. Lunn(sk), G. Reagan, S. Walker, T. Percival
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes,
Nick Reagan (sk), K. Pride, S. Hamilton , G. Pauling
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly

K.Pickering(sk)C. Fleay, DiGuiseppe,R.Couper
D. Rankin (sk),P. Caffell,R.Lawrence, J. Coleman
J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne B. Galloway, P. Pendergast
------------
Have the Millers ever been on top of the Premeir League ladder in their long history? now it is a matter of whether or not they can stay there. This is the first game of a series of games they will play against other sides that finals hopes.
Sth Perth Millers have done all the spade work up till now and find themselves on top of the Premiership table. They have taken care of the bottom side and now the journey toward the finals starts in earnest because they have the top sides to play, what happens for the rest of the first round will tell us more of what we need to know
Some plus's for the Millers are the rink of Matt Ellul who have conquered all so far and might meet one of Osborne Park's two unbeaten rinks and if they do it will be on for young and old. The two Saints rinks in question have terrific depth with all players playing to their ability.
Ross Bresland's rink have also been great value for the Millers and will not be an easy push out in this encounter. They have won all their home games and have a 4/1 +18 which are very good stats
The minuses are Nick Reagan's rink who have yet to bother the stats man to get out the blue pen. Nick has had several changes to his rink in an endeavour to find the right chemistry and this is the right time to be doing it but finding the right chemistry could prove to very difficult..
Steve Lunn is a new skip and so far teams led by him are not proving to be successful and are as yet to win a home game which is one of the Millers strengths.
A couple of changes this week where we see Richard Cox is back in the two's so up come Paul Pendergast and Dave Appleton who have both missed the last two games. Wings Evans is unavailable this week
Apart from that every thing is rosy at OP, they would be well pleased with their efforts so far this season, They had a close shave last year in their game at Sth Perth and just fell over the line to win.
Probably the Saints are at a disadvantage playing on the carpet but after seeing the club in action in their last couple of games they are running like a well oiled machine
The rinks of Dave Rankin and John Goddard remain undefeated and have all players pitching in to make it hard for the opposition.
Kevin Pickering is proving to be a valuable addition to the 16 and his form has been outstanding as has his team mates
Kevin Pickering in brilliant form in his last 2 games

Gary Caffell's "G" team at last broke thru for a win, their first for the season.
They have had some pretty stiff opposition in their games so far but they are not far off from finding their best form.

YOKINE DOGGIES v VIC PARK REDS
R. Heaton,(sk) , I. Cooper, S.Sloan , J. McGrath
S. Edmonds (sk) J. Carter, lee Farrell, I. Coghill
E. Dodd(sk) A. Davis, M. Lemos, J. Lorencs
J. O' Keefe (sk), R. Rewko, A. Durrant, W. Coffey

G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, C. Hayes, G. Hiskens
R. Hughes (sk),S. Bainbridge, T. Valience, G. Quann
R. Butler (sk), S.Knott. J. Jaworski, G. Faulkner
A. Provost(sk), J. Mitchell, C. McNeil, D. Patterson
Yokine did not achieve their goal of beating
the Millers but there were good and bad signs for the Doggies, The fact they won on 2 rinks has shown how competitive they are.
The down side for them is the Rod Heaton led rink who cannot find the winning formula at the moment and until they do the Doggies are going no where
The Vic Park Reds are coming into this game on the back of their great performance last week and won as expected against the then top side Wanneroo,
the form on display in that game is looking ominous for the opposition
Russell Hughes led the club to a good victory with a huge win against Clive Adams's rink
who have been playing at the top of their game
Anthony Provost provides the best stat sheet for Vic Park and again will be the team the Doggies have to beat, his only loss was to unbeaten Dave Rankin by just the 1 shot.
Rhett Butler the king of swing, has stopped swinging and copped a beauty last week against Stein Davies and a look at the stat sheet shows things are not looking all that flash with 1 win from 4 games and a - 28 shot deficit. However the quality of the rink says it should come good at sometime

D/KEITH SILVERTAILS v CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS
M. Krajancic(sk)J. Morgan R. Donald, V. Colley
T. Skoric (sk), V. Santostefano,W. Tan, S. Back
L.Richardson(sk)McIntosh.O`Meehan,McCormack
T.Williams(sk),M.LindsayR. Mitchell,R.MacKenzie
-------------------------versus
T. Smallacombe (sk)N. Lewis, S. Rushforth, B. Kiely
The Jones Boy (sk) , A. Heal,T. Walsh, R. Bolton.
P. Harris (sk), C. Lander,R. Stockton, W. Maher
D. Opie (sk),M. McGann, B. Katunarich, G. Kane
Dalkeith beaten by Osborne Pk Saints last week will not find the Cambridge Knights any easier to beat.
However
Dalkeith tho well beaten on the scoreboard showed on a couple of rinks that they had something to offer.
Luke Richardson's rink were fantastic last week and the final score line didn't reflect how well they played.
Marko and his rink were in the contest for a long time before going down as was Tom Willams's rink.
The only thing Tony Skoric and his rink can do is regroup and forget about last week's effort. Till last week the rink had been competitive.
Cambridge are coming into this game with some impressive wins under their belt but it took them a while to put Cockburn away last week. The win against Vic Park was breeze
and Kalamunda was a good win.
Pieter Harris has his rink going well and we hear that Pieter himself is in pretty good form
Trystan Smallacombe's rink which has been very reliable in past seasons is finding it hard at the moment
The Jones Boy's rink is the leading rink at Cambridge with 4 wins
David Opie's rink have come good and now have 3 wins from 5 games.
All rinks with + aggregates at Cambridge makes it hard to mount a case for the Silvertails rinks who are all in the red tho as we were to find out that anything can happen in a game of lawn bowls after the Kalamunda win against Doubleview.

KALAMUNDA TIGERS v WANNEROO EXPRESS
N. Payne (sk), S. O`Neil, R. Pringle, V. Beckley
B.Brandsma(sk), P. Coyle, M. Clancy, R. Eddy
N. Griffin (sk),J. Morss, T. Dellar, P. Natalotto
M.Biglin(sk)F.Anderson,J.Wardrop,M. Douthie
------------------------versus
C. Adams(sk), R. Humphryson, P. Potts, S. Donohue R. Bates (sk), B. Axford, N. Costello, M. Hulbert
S. Davies (sk), Ted Alden, S. Alden, D. Griffin
G. Ellis (sk), P. Knight, D. Triffit, H. Ward
Last week we said this
"This game is over before it has started if we take notice of the Tigers form compared to the Doubleview PowerHouse in the first four games.
The Tigers are down at the bottom of the ladder and not a lot of prospect to starting an upward trend.
Major problem is their four rinks cannot seem to fire at the same time in a game yet we see they have more rink wins than League leaders Wanneroo"
and this
"Who would have thought victory was possible for the inconsistent toothless Tigers."
Perhaps a little unfair to say toothless considering they have 10 rink wins from a possible 20.
We will fix that immediately by showing the new off our new look Sabre tooth Kalamunda Tigers.
-------
OK we can only congratulate the Tigers on their win and lets hope they can carry on to win many more games not only for themselves but to make the competition even more unpredictable and interesting.
Last year when the chips were down for the Tigers at the end of the season they beat Wanneroo and that win played a big part in staving off promotion. It was game they were not expected to win
The Tigers now have 10 rink wins but 3 of the 4 rinks have minus aggregates, and it is issues like that to throw doubt into the minds of the tipsters and critics
Billy Brandsma and his rink have stopped a couple of handy rinks in their tracks over the past two games and now need to consolidate those wins and go on with it from here.
Neil Payne and his rink were the rink of the round when they demolished Daniel Trewhella last week
Mitch Biglin come up trumps to roll out Kyle McIlroy's rink and again Kalamunda need his rink to follow up with another win.
Neale Giffin's rink have some work to do after a heavy loss last week.
Wanneroo Express come into this game following their first loss for the season and were caught out against Vic Park after winning their first 3 games.
The stat sheet shows just 6 rink wins from 4 games and really that is not a lot to hang your hat on.
Wanneroo will need to have all hands on deck if they are to remain in the mix and not waste their start to the season.
Stein Davies was the big and only winner last week for the Express and they say he is in good form as is the other members of his rink
Clive Adams rink copped a shellacking at the hands of Russell Hughes last week, Clive did say he team played ok but were out bowled
Geoff Ellis could not maintain the brilliance of the first three games and lost his first game for the season
Ron Bate's rink have been winless so far this season
and would need to turn the corner soon or changes simply have to be made.
