Last week we had 4 games in the first round won by the away sides. Wanneroo were the only home side to get the big end of the points.(this game was switched from OP)
This round brings three standout games and the first of these is the Kalamunda Tigers V Sth Perth Millers. Sometimes it can be a long journey up the hill and an even longer one coming down the hill, what will it be for Sth Millers ?
Vic Park Reds will take on the Osborne Park Saints who were losers last week . Vic Park were good last week and Osborne Park would be disappointed with last weeks result, should be a ripper game
Wanneroo Express won last week when most didn't think they could, face another huge game this week when they host the Cambridge Knights who were disappointing last week
The Doubleview PowerHouse flexed their muscles last week and we can expect them to do more of the same against the Yokine Doggies. The Doggies were put back into their Kennel early in the game last week .
Down South we see the Cockburn Roosters doing battle with the Dalkeith Silvertails. Cockburn were impressive while the Dalkeith Silvertails just didn't measure up to expectations
--------------------STEVE CERFF DELIVERS

Steve Cerff played a great game last week in the massacre of Rod Heaton's rink. It was all Cockburn in the game and as this pic shows it is all Cockburn again. A fantastic performance and well played
WANNERO EXPRESS v CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS

The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, A. Heal, R. Bolton.
P. Harris (sk), C. Lander,R. Stockton, W. Maher
D. Opie (sk),B. Katunarich, M. McGann,G. Kane
Wanneroo Express were unexpected winners but impressive winners with a come from behind win. Good news for the club to see Ron Bates's rink hang in there to keep John Goddard to a 1 shot win and the Wizard and his rink to claw their way back into the contest and scramble a draw.
Geoff Ellis "the mailman" is in great touch and should be a hurdle to get over for any rink he plays.
Cambridge were disappointing, The Jones Boy and his rink were poor and will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat if they are to have a chance of beating any Express rink they happen to meet,
Pieter Harris's rink did not deliver the goods and the losing scoreline shows they have some work to do.
David Opie won his first game as a skip and that is a good sign for Cambridge considering it was against James Jaworoski's rink.
All in all you would think the smart money would be on Cambridge because they can go far better than they did last week and that is the way I will go

D. Rankin (sk),P. Caffell,R.Lawrence, J. Coleman
J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne B. Galloway, D. Appleton
Should be a great contest
after both sides were having tight games last week.
Victoria Park have greater depth at the back and are well served at the front end and overall look to be a stronger 16.
Even allowing for two rinks losing last week those games were tight.
The Reds are the strongest they have been in years and playing at home will be a handful for who ever visits the club during this season
I had no info on the game the Reds won last week against the Millers but to win there bearing in mind they had not played Sth Perth at home in recent times was a great win
Osborne Park have a new structure and it will take a while to find out just where they are at in the scheme of things.
New Skip Kevin Pickering felt the blowtorch of skippering last for the first time in the Premier League while David Rankin who is also a first time skip won his game but will find the Vic Park Reds a different kettle of fish to deal with.
Best hope of winning a point in this game lies with John Goddard's rink.
Gary Caffell's rink held a huge lead last week 14/2 and let it slip so much so, the game ended in a draw.

KALAMUNDA TIGERS v SOUTH PERTH MILLERS
N. Payne (sk), S. O`Neil, E. Sydenham, R. Pringle
B.Brandsma(sk), M. Clancy, R. Eddy, R. Payne
N. Griffin (sk),J. Morss, T. Dellar, P. Natalotto

S. Lunn(sk), K. Pride, G. Reagan, K. Howieson
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes,
N. Reagan(sk), S. Walker, T. Percival, G. Pauling
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly
So here we go, can Kalamunda who were surprise winners last week against the Dalkeith Silvertails go on with it this week. Last year they beat the Millers in the home and away games, that in itself should be a good for their confidence going into this game.
Neil Payne was brilliant last week, can he reproduce that form this week? Neale Griffin is very capable as is Billy Brandsma, both won their games last week.
The Millers have a new look 16 and would have been happy that they would get two points off the Reds and were in with a big chance late in the game to actually win the contest.
We have spoken many times about their inability to win away from home, so it makes it hard that even after a great performance last week that they can be taken seriously when they are on the road.
To gain credibility they must win this game and we might remember that most away sides won at the home of the Tigers last season but not the Millers.
With player losses from last season it is still hard to mount a case for Kalamunda Tigers even after their unexpected win last week.
A new look Sth Perth Millers 16 to break the run of away losses

COCKBURN ROOSTERS v D/KEITH SILVERTAILS
G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, J, Ravlich, M. Muslin
S.Srhoy(sk), J. Trewhella, S. Perica, M. Sokol.
D. Brown(sk), M. Zusman, M. Sear, M. Trewhella
G. Catterick (sk), K, Cousins, J. Galipo, P. Novak
-------------------------versus
M. Krajancic(sk)J. Morgan R. Donald, R. MacKenzie
T. Skoric (sk) L. Richardson, W. Tan, S. Back
P. Bacich (sk)M. Lindsay V. Santostefano, V. Colley
T.Williams(sk),J.McIntosh,R.MitchellJ.McCormack
Cockburn put the Yokine Doggies back into the kennel with a good 7/1 win. The Roosters once again have a new look side to start the 2008/9 season and to come up with a solid win at the home of the Doggies is the best way to start the season off.
Gary Carberry will not play a better game this season, he was outstanding and what a recovery from last season where the rinks he was in charge of lost all 6 games. However the rink he in charge of is solid all the way thru and capable of winning many games if the form they displayed last week is maintained
For Dalkeith life will get no easier, just harder when they travel South to play the Roosters and waiting for them when they arrive will be Gary Carberry, Daniel Brown and Steve "the Slammer" Srhoy to greet them
Dalkeith don't appear to have a chance of taking out this game going on last weeks game where it was their 3rd straight loss at home if we include last years finals
The team has three former Cockburn players in it, Marko Krajancic, Tony Skoric and Luke Richardson, can they make a difference to the Silvertails hope of a win?
These players should well know how tricky it can be to play at Cockburn and their knowledge of how to play at Cockburn might help.
After last week's loss to Kalamunda we cannot make a case for the Silvertails
Cockburn to win it is only a question of by how much

DOUBVIEW POWERHOUSE v YOKINE DOGGIES
D. Trewhella (sk)R. Dempsey, J. Bausor, C. Slavich
John Slavich (sk) P. Buller, R. Barns, C.Tunstall
J. Jaworski (sk), L. Thorn, D. Slavich, P. Ker,
K. McIlroy (sk), A. Delaporte, G. Nelson, M. Mitchell
-------------------------versus
R. Heaton,(sk) , I. Cooper, lee farrel , J. McGrath
S. Edmonds (sk) J. Carter, S Sloan, I. Coghill
E. Dodd(sk) A. Davis, M. Lemos, J. Lorencs
J. O'Keefe (sk), R. Rewko, A. Durrant, W. Coffey
Scott Edmonds stretching out in this drive

Scott Edmonds and his rink were Yokine's only winners last week in the game against the Cockburn Roosters
Doubleview PowerHouse were big winners last week when they put the Cambridge Knights away in a test of strength. The win was all the more meritorious because it was played at Cambridge. All PowerHouse skips were good from what we have heard.
It has been said that Doubleview skips were not the strongest group of skips in the Premier League but there is still plenty of kick about them.
We would expect the side to continue on improving as the season progress's
The Doggies have made a couple of changes, Hickman out for Adrian Durrant, John Carter to play three for Scott Edmonds, Ian Cooper moves from 2 to play three for Rocket Heaton
Yokine Doggies recording wins on one rink that of Scotty Edmonds while the rink of Eddy Dodd going hard and almost getting the point while Jamie O`Keefe's rink fought hard to stay in the game and kept the losing scoreline in check.
If we forget about the huge loss of Rod Heaton who played Gary Carberry and that player will not play a better game this season then the Doggies have something to hang their hat on.
Rod Heaton's side were not that bad at all with the lead and skip both playing good games
However it will be hard work to overcome the equal favourites for the flag and with plenty of keenness at Doubleview there is no way they will waste the great win against Cambridge by taking their foot off the accelerator and should record a solid win
