CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS v WANNEROO EXPRESS

------------------------------------- VERSUS

An exciting contest here with plenty hanging on the result. The Knights have been very disappointing up to the halfway mark of the season, their win against the Doubleview PowerHouse was encouraging but it seems anyone can beat the PowerHouse at the moment. Wanneroo are a far better performed 16 that the Knights will have to contend with.

If Cambridge are to make a move toward making the finals a win here is a high priority for them.
The sides have been changed around lately in an attempt to find the winning formula and the right chemistry and it is from here on we will learn if Cambridge are made of the right stuff and their recruiting will pay dividends

Wanneroo have made several changes after the losing game against the reigning premiers and top side the Osborne Park Saints.
They were beaten by the Saints after holding a very handy margin and an upset was on the cards. However the Express were to learn that tho it was a very good effort they have some distance to make up if they are to be a threat to win the flag

Simon Alden will be playing three for the first time this season in a big shake up at Wanneroo who have made three changes with their thirds

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 00 (0) Versus WANNEROO EXPRESS 00 (0)
PLAYED AT CAMBRIDGE

P. Harris (sk), ,R. Stockton, S. Rushforth, W. Maher
----------5/4/1 + 16
C. Adams (sk), T. Donohoe, G.Adamini, P. Potts---------------2/5/3 - 23 shots

These two skippers are great mates and also State team mates but with what is a stake in this game the friendship will be off from 2.00 PM till 5.00 PM saturday afternoon
Clive has a new third, Shaun Donohoe who is very young and played lead earlier in the season. Could be a big ask to play his first game as a three on the Cambridge carpet but none the less the Selectors have shown plenty of faith to try him out in this position
Leader Phil Potts was well beaten in his position against Dave Appleton last week will be looking to return to his best which is extremely good if this rink is to win

Rabbit Adamini had a very good game last week playing as a two for Reg Humphryson

Clive Adams had a great game for the first half doing many fine things for his side but eventually John Goddard's rink wore the Wanneroo boys down and recorded a very good win.

Pieter Harris's rink was a handsome winner against top skip Daniel Trewhella last week which broke a 3 game losing streak, in the scheme of things it was a huge win. They will need to keep this new found momentum to keep going but I fear the worst because apart from the inexperience of Shaun Donohue the front two for Wanneroo should be the key to victory.

CLIVE ADAMS TO WIN

D. Opie (sk), M. McGann,,T. Walsh, G. Kane, ----------------5/5 + 0 shots
T.Alden (sk), R. Bates, D.Moore, N. Costello----------.-------1/1 + 2
David Opie has 5 wins and no shots up, went down very narrowly to the great Kat and in a good performance. Tony Walsh has played previously as a two for the Jones Boy in a couple of games and now is a part of the restructure of rink changes he has come over to David's side.

Ted Alden has done well since he took the reigns and now calls the shots for the rink. They won a tough battle against the Saints Kevin Pickering in a high standard game to be Wanneroo's only winner last week
He has a good rink to get the job done but the carpet might be the undoing of the rink. Man for man I favour that Ted Alden will win his second game

TED ALDEN TO WIN ---------

The Jones Boy (sk) A. Heal, B. Katunarich,B. Kiely---------------6/3/1 + 28 shots
S.Davies, B.Axford, H.Ward, D. Griffin
----------------------------.5/4 /1 + 18

The Jones Boy has had a change of players and it has worked out well, last week the rink had a huge win over Robbie Ball who skippered his first game this season.
The Jones Boy has the best stat sheet at Cambridge and without their effort it would have almost certainly been curtains for Cambridge.
Brian Kiely has returned to the form we all know he is capable of while Brian Kat put in a good one last week
Aj Heal is a gun third and he will be too strong in this position for Brian Axford

Stein Davies has a new third Brian Axford who will be playing in the State Singles final on Sunday (good luck to you Brian and well done on your great feat to be there) is now with his third skip in this position so far this season.
Hugh Ward played a blinder last week against Osborne Park as a lead has been moved to play as a second
and sure to be a driving force if we use last week's performance as guide
Stein Davies is a talented player and will make life difficult for the Jones Boy

THE JONES BOY TO WIN

T. Smallacombe (sk), C. Lander,N. Lewis, G. Papadopalous-----------3/7/ - 7
R.Humphryson (sk), S.Alden, D.Triffitt, A. Marsh
----------------------3/2 + 23
Trystan Smallacombe has got a stronger side on paper here for this rink contest.
Trystan's rink was beaten by John Slavich last week. Trystan has been the leading light at Cambridge for the past 5 years. It is noticeable that if his rink has an ordinary season Cambridge have an ordinary season and that is exactly what has happened this season. However all is not lost with 8 games to go and the rink has the quality to come home with a rush

Reg Humphryson has had a change also with a new third to come in. Simon Alden played three last season and did a good job so he knows what is required and how to go about it. Another change is Dave Triffit who is highly regarded comes into the side as does another new player Alan Marsh.
With such a new side here for Reg I think Trystan Smallacombe's rink should be too strong on the Cambridge carpet

TRYSTAN SMALLACOMBE TO WIN

6/2
