GRAND FINAL
The Doubleview PowerHouse played a great brand of bowls this afternoon to withstand a strong challenge from the runner up Victoria Park Reds.
Going into this game on the back of beating Osborne Park Saints very comfortably
in the second semi final, this combined with beating the Saints in the last of the home and away of the season, the PowerHouse would have been favourites to win.
Vic Park had won their two games disposing the Sth Perth Millers and winning their game against Osborne Park Saints courtesy of Jeff Mitchell's lone rink win.

A good game between the Master and the Apprentice. There was never much in the game until around halfway where the Kat's side broke away to a comfortable lead.
Players doing well were Gary Nelson leading, Dennis Kat and Anthony Provost were both playing great skippers games and were the standouts along with Arron Delaporte doing his bit as was Stuart Bainbridge on the occasions we tuned into this rink
Stuart Bainbridge played well for his rink against the Kat Dennis Katunarich in the grand final
happy to win the measure

R. Butler (sk), T. Mitchell, S.Knott., G. Faulkner---------.------15
Daniel Trewhella and his rink had the call over Rhett Butler for the most part of the game and were leading 17/7 to have this game under control. From what we were able to see of the game it was a very good standard game but not able to pinpoint who did or didn't have an impact.
R. Ball (sk) L. Thorn ,M. Mitchell , K. Screech--------.---.------13
G. Wishart(sk), J. Jaworski , S. Caven, G. Hiskens -------.-----27
This game was the surprise of the four rinks when the Wishart led rink burst out of the blocks to build up a handy lead. At one stage they led 17/1, considering the stellar performance of Robbie Ball in particular and the rink in general when they won their game at Osborne Park in the second semi-final. because of this lead kept Vic Park hopes of defeating the PowerHouse alive well into the game.
In typical fashion Robbie Ball and his rink came back into the game and generally broke even to stop the score from blowing out further.
Prickles Thorn would be the happiest player you could find after Doubleview had won the Grand Final. No doubt that Prickles is the best motivator going around and we hope his talents in this area are put to good use in the near future.

J. Mitchell (sk), R. Hughes ,C.McNeil, D. Patterson--------.----12
A great match up in this game with Jeff Mitchell's rink the hero's in the game against Osborne Park being the only rink winner to give the Reds victory. John Slavich's rink put the dangerous Dave Rankin led rink out of action the day before. It looked
like a promoters dream with this rink clash.
Well it was not to be because John Slavich's rink held the whip hand for the most part of the game and he himself played a great skippers game, saving his side on several occasions with his attacking style of game.
John Slavich's rink led throughout the game and John playing a major role to make sure the flag would be returning to Doubleview after a years absence from the clubhouse.
There was a scare very late in the game when the Vic Park boys piled bowl after bowl onto the jack and held 6 shots, The front three Doubleview players fell down badly on this vital end, if the Reds could hold these shots it would give them a big chance of victory with a couple of ends remaining in the game.
On the crossover 6 down and not good position to play to, John Slavich hit the clump of 6 bowls
and cut it down to 4, his last bowl cut it further down to 2 shots . John Slavich stood tall under such pressure to squeeze out the last glimmer and hope that the Reds had left in the game. The 2009 Premiership flag would now be on display at Doubleview
