YOKINE DOGGIES 71 (6.5 ) def OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 68 (1.5)
PLAYED AT YOKINE
The game at Yokine was one of the best games of the season in every sense, the skill and the pressure was top class, the green was magic, the players were awesome in their endeavors to win the aggregate for their respective sides.
What was at stake, for Osborne Park, nothing other than playing out the season and enjoying what ever was thrown at them.
For Yokine Doggies it was an attempt to get some points from this game to help in their fight to stay in the Premier League.
99 out of 100 would pick Osborne Park Saints to win the game even tho Yokine had lost on the last bowl of the match in the first round and not withstanding their form of late beating two sides in the four.
All rinks were having a good crack at it with the major scoreboard showing Yokine up 26 - 18 on the 25th end with Scott Edmonds rink getting out of the blocks to lead Kevin Pickering's rink 8/2
By end 40 John Goddard's rink had the edge over Eddy Dodd leading 11-6 and all other rinks were very close. End 60 had the Saints leading 53 - 49. So it was game on and those Yokine Doggies were not going to go away.
Carter(Sk),J. O`Keefe ------------------------------
-----------------18
D. Rankin (sk), P. Caffell, P. Pendergast, J. Coleman-----.-..-----17
John Carter and his rink had the edge in this very hard fought game John himself was playing above and beyond while it seemed that Dingo Coleman was having a ripper of a game leading for Dave Rankin's side,
I didn't see much of the game but what I see of it, it was a tough tough game with plenty of skill thrown in.
John Carter's rink gained the ascendancy to lead 15 - 8 on the 14th end and were certainly making the OP boys work hard. Work hard they did to come home strongly to be 16 - 18 down on end 20 and a chance to take the game. However it was not to be and a well deserved victory for John Carter's to topple the leading rink in the Premier League.
S. Edmonds(Sk) Lemos, Harris, Coghill -----------------------.---17
K. Pickering(sk) C. Fleay, DiGuiseppe,Couper-----------------..--16
R. Heaton(sk) Farrell, Sloan, Coffey -------------------------------16
G. Caffell (sk), W. Evans, G. King, G. Nicol, -----------------------117
It was a case of deja vu for Gary Caffell in this thrilling tough hard fought game.
It was a close game after the first 10 ends with neither side giving an inch. From the 10th end it was Rod Heaton's rink who started to win the tug of war and they inched their way toward a 16 - 8 lead at the conclusion of the 16th end and were also responsible for the Major scoreboard showing a lead to the Doggies.
From what I saw both skippers were inspirational in their efforts to gain the ascendency while the "General" Grant Nicol was doing well. but generally all players had some impact on the game at some stage.
With 5 ends to play the Osborne Parks side came home hard keeping Rod Heaton's rink down to one shot and picking up to be 16 - 16 on the 20th end
This last end saw OP 69- 71 down on the big scoreboard with Gary Caffell having to play the bowl of the match as he had
in the first round game. He was a couple down and had to trail the jack to make 3 or four and he just missed getting it to where he wanted it to be but did manage to get the shot for his rink to win the game
Gary Caffell is a great player who seems to thrive when the pressure is on and displayed this feature of his game often
E. Dodd (sk) A. Davis, J. Lorencs,B. Manners ----------------------19
J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne, B. Galloway, D. Appleton, ---------...--19
I saw a lot of this game and what a game !! It had everything that is possible to see such a game it was.
Firstly Bill Galloway who is now the current Senior State Singles champ was in sensational touch, it was one performance I will not forget
in hurry.
Dave Appleton was soooooooooooo good in a top class leading exhibition, he has to be given an opportunity in the State squad.
Ian Payne just never plays a bad game and is as good a 3rd there is in the Premier League.
John Goddard was the icing on the cake with another wonderful game.
If they were so good how on earth did they only manage only a draw.
Brian Manners was beaten in the leaders spot but by gee Yokine are onto something here this young fellah who showed heaps and has a bright future.
Juris Lorencs
didn't win his position in the first half bearing in mind I did miss some of the game while looking at other rinks. But he was good in the last half and responded to the pressure with several close and telling bowls to keep his side on track for a win
Alan Davis did a lot of heavy work
and changed many a dangerous position to Yokine's advantage
Eddy Dodd did a lot of damage and close to the end of the game he saved a big 3 to keep Yokine's score ticking over on the big board
It was just one mighty game of bowls to watch and the skill level was just something.
WANNEROO EXPRESS 92 (7 ) def COCKBURN ROOSTERS 69 (1)
PLAYED AT COCKBURN
Wanneroo had some doubts about their ability and where they were going in the Premier League after a morale shattering loss to Yokine last week in the game that completed round 13.
Cockburn it would seem didn't have anything to play for, to make the final was close to impossible but seeing as we have to put the whites on lets see what is what.
The score in these games showed only one side turned up to play, that is what the final scoreboard shows and Cockburn are now in the worst position ladder wise in more than 35 years .
C. Adams(sk) ,S.Dono he, M. Hulbert, P. Potts,-----.--------------27
D. Brown (sk),A. Jones (sk),R.Couper, J. Galipo-----------..---.16
Clive Adams's rink have done well here to beat Daniel Brown and his boys.
Last evening Daniel Brown was outstanding playing in the fire appeal match
against the State side.
This more than handy win by Clive Adams who has now won his last 5 games has boosted Wanneroo's chances to make the finals, from here it seems he has a settled rink which is so important now the finals are close
R. Humphryson,(sk), G. Adamini, D.Triffit,B. Axford -----.-----25
G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, J, Trewhella, S. West -------------.---.-8
Reg Humphryson has also come up trumps with a huge win here against Gary Carberry's rink which is the best rink at cockburn so our stats tell us
S. Davies(sk) T. Alden, S. Alden, D. Griffin------------------------22
S. Srhoy(sk), G. Catterick , M. Sokol.M. Muslin------------.------18
Stein Davies has a new rink for this game or it looks like his old rink is back together again and he and his rink have done the job of defeating the second best rink at Cockburn in a close encounter which is encouraging for the finals
G. Ellis (sk) (sk) , R. BatesD. Moore, H.Ward-----------------.---17
M. Zusman(sk), S. Perica, J. Ravlich, M. Trewhella____-__--_27
The only winner for Cockburn today and that is a sign of a good rink that can overcome a loss of 30 odd shots last week to grab hold of a strong side such as the one they beat today.
VICTORIA PARK 89 (7 ) def KALAMUNDA 55 (1 )
PLAYED AT KALAMUNDA
Victoria Park Reds only had to turn up to collect most of the points today, they were overwhelming favourites to tame the Tigers.
Three huge wins were the reason for Vic Park Reds victory and has helped in their push for second place.
Kalamunda are a hard side to fathom with their poor home ground record this season
R. Butler (sk),J. Jaworski, S.Knott, G. Faulkner-------.-----.----28
N. Payne (sk), F. Anderson, R. Pringle, P. Nattalotto--------.---12
A big win for Rhett Butler against what appears to a solid rink that can't put it together of late
J. Mitchell(sk), R. Hughes, C. McNeil, D. Patterson -------..--.--24
N. Griffin (sk),R. Eddy J. Morss, T. Natalotto,-------------------12
Another solid win for the new skip jeff Mitchell and
the win makes it four straight wins
G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, W. Butler, G. Hiskens--------------8
M.Biglin(sk), S. O`Neil, M. Clancy , J.Wardrop-------------.-----23
Mitch Biglin and his rink can be right up there on some days and right down there on others. A huge win in this game but to no avail however the point could come in handy as the battle for relegation is still alive
A. Provost (sk),S. Bainbridge, B. Scott, G. Quann--------------.-29
B.Brandsma(sk), V. Beckley E. Sydenham, R. Payne, ------------8
DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 92 (7) def DALKEITH SILVERTAILS 70 (1)
PLAYED AT DALKEITH
A good win to the PowerHouse with s good performance from Tony Skoric and his rink who have come back hard to restore their reputation and to lose by 2 shots against Robbie Ball is a good effort
Luke Richardson and his rink got hold of Dennis Kat's rink who had 3 great wins last week to help the PowerHouse make a strong surge to a finals birth
John Slavich's rink played Mr Dalkeith himself Marko Krajancic who has been outstanding this season. No doubt this was the hard rink to play for Doubleview and full credit to John and his rink
Daniel Trewhella and his rink set up the win with a good win against Peter Baccich and have continued on their merry way to be the number one rink for Doubleview
R. Ball (sk), L. Thorn, M.Mitchell K.Screech, ------------------------21

Sth PERTH MILLERS 84 (6) def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 79 (2 )
PLAYED AT Sth PERTH
Cambridge came, they saw, they played and went home planning for next season after losing to the Sth Perth Millers.
The Sth Perth Millers have won
their most important game so far this season. A loss was the end for them and from here they will hope that Dalkeith can defeat Wannerro Express.
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes, --------------------27
P. Harris (sk), S. Rushforth, G. Hawkes W. Maher--------.-------.--14
Matt Elull and his top class rink have bounced back from last weeks loss to David Rankin
to beat Cambridge's leading rink.
With so much at stake in this game it would alway be a tall order for Pieter Harris's rink to beat Matt and his rink
who are a class above most rinks in the competition.
S. Walker (sk), Bob Bandy Glen Pauling Joe Cunningham --------14
The Jones Boy (sk) A. Heal, B. Katunarich,B. Kiely,-----------.-----21
The Jones Boy's rink did the job today against Scott Walkers rink and I guess we could expect that
to happen considering Scott's stat sheet for the this season.
R. Bresland(sk), Steve Lunn, Ken Pride, Steve Kelly-------------.--21
D. Opie (sk), M. McGann,,T. Walsh, G. Kane-------------.-----------24
David Opie was sensational last week according to our sources as was his team mates and to win this game is a feather in the cap, Ross Bresland's rink have done well this season and are the second best rink at the Millers.
N. Reagan (sk) Greg Reagan Denis Bandy Darren Lyons--------.-.-22
T. Smallacombe (sk), C. Lander,N. Lewis, R.Bolton --------------.-20
Nick Reagan's rink came back from last week's heavy loss to get across the line against Trystan Smallacombe.
Both rinks have not lived up to expectations this season. Last season Trystan Smallacombe led rinks were the best at Cambridge.
Nick Reagan burst onto the Premier League scene in spectacular fashion in his first season and he was the number one skip for the Milles losing just 5 games for the season
