OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 100 (6) def SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 75 (2)
PLAYED AT OSBORNE PARK

The Osborne Park Saints has a minor scare last week losing on two rinks to the bottom side Dalkeith. This week they were to face a more serious challenge playing the Sth Perth Millers who were desperate to get back on track and stay in the top four. The Sth Perth Millers had the hardest job there is in premier League this season, see if they could stop the Saints at Osborne Park.
The game had a highlite when Matt Elull and his crack team who were the best performed rink in the division drew the second top rink, David Rankin and his boys.
Osborne Park got out of the blocks first and shot to a 36/12 lead after 16 ends. This mainly due to John Goddard's rink who led 11/1 against Nick Reagan who was Sth Perth's only winner against the PowerHouse on friday night. When I had left the venue The Saints were in charge on the major scoreboard and were leading by 30 or more shots 67/37. after 47 ends..

The game was played on a pretty quick track and a Funny thing about this game is the amazing similarity to the game Matt Elull had played against John Goddard in the 1st round.
This game we saw some fabulous bowls played by all players , the leaders were very good The seconds wanted a piece of the action while only from what I saw Frank Carbone was putting down some fantastic bowls and possibly shaded Pat Caffell but in fairness I didn't and couldn't see all of the bowls played but those yellow bowls of Franks seemed to often be where his skipper wanted them.

David Rankin started a little slowly but he excelled with many outstanding draw shots to emphasize why he is in the State side. He is a class act and a draw shot specialist.

After clearing out two of these 4 counters David "Choppah" Rankin drew 2nd shot
--
Matt Elull showed his class also with several great bowls. All this was up till the 13th end when I departed.

Much to my surprise the same thing happened again, Matt's rink got blown away in the remaining 8 ends that I didn't see. However to lose only 4 games this far into the season is a mighty effort.

This win has David Rankin and his team sitting on top of the best performed rink in the Premier league .

K. Pickering(sk) C. Fleay, DiGuiseppe,Couper-----------------..--17
S. Walker (sk), B. Bandy ,G. Pauling Cunningham -------------.--19

Another hard game for Scott Walker but to get the point off Kevin Pickering takes some doing and it should be a great boost for Scott's rink. This is the 3rd win for Scott since he took the skippers role.

G. Caffell (sk), W. Evans, G. King, G. Nicol, -----------------------15
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly-------------------.--23
Ross Bresland was having a hard time of it from what I was able to see of the game and was always behind the 8 ball. When I had left the score was 12/7 to Gary Caffell. He had made a couple of important saves, one when he was 5 down, he dew shot,
When I got the final score it showed Ross had won the game so obviously to come from a 7/12 down is some sort of a comeback

J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne, B. Galloway, D. Appleton, ---------..--36
N. Reagan (sk) --------------------, D. lyons----------------------.--13

John Goddard was at his best with another telling game for the Saints. He has a wonderful team with him who were terrific today, Ian Payne is all quality playing three to John and rarely plays a bad game and his combination with John is first class. Bill Galloway is a luxury playing as a two while Dave Appleton is a leader who continues to be a big part of the outstanding rink
Nick Reagan ran into a brick wall today but so have several rinks before him and no doubt Nick will be back ready for action next week

VICTORIA PARK 86 (7 ) def YOKINE DOGGIES 55 (1 )
PLAYED AT VICTORIA PARK
After losing the round 13 game this morning to the PowerHouse by 5 shots the Reds had to make certain they beat the Yokine Doggies. The last time they met it was a 56 point thumping.
The Doggies had to come with a frame of mind they could win which would help their chances of avoiding demotion.
Well judging by the scores only one Doggie rink came to play, Rod Heaton and his rink who have proved difficult to beat came away with a win
Rhett Butler had a comfy win Jeff Mitchell's rink continued on from where they had left off in the morning game with another win and AP had their game under control.
Where to for the Reds ? They have a fairly easy path in the last three games playing Kalamunda who rarely win at home, Cockburn who could win that game and the Dalkeith Silvertails who don't have the depth, the Reds place in the finals is assured with only which place they occupy in the final four at the end of the home and away games.

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 74 (6) def COCKBURN 65 (2)
PLAYED AT DOUBLEVIEW
Doubleview are riding on a huge wave of success, they have had a lot of questions asked about their performance in the Premier League and have risen to the occasion with a great haul of points over friday night and two games on this saturday.
They have scooped the pool with 20 points from a possible 24.
Dennis Katunarich was the man, he won all three games and played brilliant bowls to help get this result. At his best he almost doesn't need a team such are his skills.

Robbie Ball Played the bowl of the match against the Reds to make victory possible and the word was he was sensational in that game against Anthony Provost.

Daniel Trewhella took care of business to keep the Slammer Steve Srhoy from taking the point that was available for the game, the size of the win was telling in a low scoring match.

Gary Carberry and his rink continue to shine when they beat Robbie Ball

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 89 (6 ) def DALKEITH SILVERTAILS 65 (2)
PLAYED AT CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge failed to deliver today. With every point important for them they could only manage 6 points for this game.
I think we can now assume it over for the knights and they can turn off the light before they leave the building as they say in the classics.
Pieter Harris is skipper of the best performed rink and had an easy victory over Luke Richardson.
Trystan Smallacombe's rink did whatthey had to do today but havent delivered enough thru the season

For the Silvertails there was non better than Marko Krajancic who has has a stellar season and once again he was best on ground against the Jones Boy's rink

We must make mention of Tony Skoric who had lost the week before 6/47. From that result there is only one to go, up or out. To he and his rink's credit they went up and to take the point from David Opie's rink is a remarkable comeback, Well done to the rink
