OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 84 (6) def VICTORIA PARK REDS 82 (2)
PLAYED AT OSBORNE PARK
Both sides had a lot to play for and the Reds maybe had even more to play for than the Saints.
Last week the Reds were surprise losers and they got a reminder that it aint going to just happen, they have to make it happen
What a challenge for the Reds to not only beat the Saints but to see if any of their rinks could tame the the twin destroyers for the Saints, John Goddard and Dave Rankin led rinks who have not been defeated up to this game. Was this mission impossible
The game started out with the scoreboard showing Osborne Park leading 24/ 17 and this was due to Kevin Pickering and his rink really giving it to the Russell Hughes led rink who was on the end of another belting.
Their was plenty of atmosphere with both sides urging one and other one and the standard was so high.
At end 37 scores were
37/37 this was going to go to the wire and if anything Vic Park were looking the better bet.

J. Goddard (sk) I. PayneB. Galloway, D. Appleton, -------------12
A. Provost(sk), J. Mitchell, C. McNeil, D. Patterson -------..--.--19
This game was a sensational game, it had the lot as far as the skills that were on display The scores were touch and go up to 14th end with all players playing as if their lives depended on it.
From this end on Anthony Provost had the last bowl and he made several very good saves for his side, they opened a small buffer but in the context of the game it was a large buffer in reality. AP went from 14/10, 17/11, 19/11 to win 19/13.
However after a day of magnificent bowls it was up to AP or John Goddard as to who would win the aggregate for their club.
On the last end of the game (84) it came down to who would draw the shot with both skips having 2 bowls to acheive this after this brilliant head was smashed by Ian Payne and the jack went forward and way out in the open.
--
The end was won by John Goddard who outdrew AP and Osborne Park snatched a dramatic victory.
the black bowl is Johns, who then never had to play his last bowl, Anthony has played his two pink bowls and the Saints are the winners.
It is easy to see why Anthony Provost's rink are in fourth position on the best performed rinks list.
They have a good leader in Pup Patterson, Charlie McNeil is a very good second and Jeff Mitchell gives his all as a third.
John Goddard's side were beaten for the first time this season
and his rink did not let anyone down, They had good numbers often but Anthony Provost did a lot of damage and was the difference between the two rinks.
John Goddard played many brilliant bowls thru the game and it was he who was to be the man to stand tall when he outdrew Anthony in a shootout for victory.
G. Caffell (sk), W. Evans, G. King, G. Nicol, ----------------------24
G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, W. Butler, G. Hiskens----------.---23
I didn't see a lot of this game but from what I was told the two leader had good games but Geoff Hiskens won the leading duel The two thirds Thomas Mitchell and Wings Evans broke even in their position, both played several important bowls for their sides and Gary Caffell played some big draw shots while Wishart missed quite a few of his drives
My score card shows it was nip and tuck for all of the game with little separating the teams. The game was evenly poised on the 17th end with Gary Caffell 17/18 down and from there his side picked up a 3 and a 4 to lead 24/18 and win a tight game
K. Pickering(sk) C. Fleay, DiGuiseppe,Couper-------------------27
R. Hughes (sk),S. Bainbridge, B. Scott, G. Quann--------------.-12
Kevin Pickering and his rink set up this win with a great display. The front two bowlers Bob Couper and Fred DiGuiseppe were brilliant, Bob in particular.
They cleaned up the front two bowlers
Greg Quann and Brendan Scott who didnt adjust to the rink they were playing on. This put the backend under the pump and it is hard for 2 bowlers to beat 4 four bowlers.
At one stage the score was 19/4 and that margin stayed for the rest of the game
After the game I spoke with Kevin who heaped a ton of praise on his lead Bob Couper in particular was very happy with the result and the overall performance
D. Rankin (sk), P. Caffell, R. Lawrence, P. Pendergast-----..----20
R. Butler (sk),J. Jaworski, S.Knott, G. Faulkner-------.-----.----27
Rhett Butler and his rink acheived mission impossible by defeating Dave Rankin's undefeated rink. It took a very good performance to so and on occasions it was the King of Swing playing at his best with some superb shot play to get numbers.
Gavin Faulkner showed he has got the goods with a steady game and probably beat Pender on the day. Shane Knott was always busy and James Jaworski done a good job and I feel this is a great move to have in this position
Rhet Butler's rink got away to a flying start to 9/0 after three ends
and by end13 they led 21/10. The side was playing the better bowls and deserved to be in front.
Dave Rankin and the team never gave up and kept plugging away and got back into the game to be down 20/24 with 2 ends to play.
WANNEROO EXPRESS 88 (6.5) def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 76 (1.5 )
PLAYED AT CAMBRIDGE
The Wanneroo Express keep coming down that line and stay on track to make the finals with a good win against the Cambridge Knights who seem to have fallen off their horse.
In the Express's last game they played well but were beaten by the Saints. In a big shake up they tweaked their side around and dropped two players along with three changes in the thirds position and it all paid handsome dividends for them
The Cambridge Knights are acutely aware of their parlous position and following their good win against Doubleview and playing this game at home this could confirm that they were on the road back
Sherro predicted a Cambridge Knights win and once again they have let themselves down
C. Adams(sk) S. Donohoe , Adamini,, P. Potts,-----.------------18
P. Harris (sk), R. Stockton, S. Rushforth, W. Maher--------.---22
Sherro predicted a win for Clive Adams. I Have no info on the game. Shaun Donohoe's first game as a three in the premier League
R. Humphryson,(sk), S. Alden, D.Triffit, A. Marsh-----.--------22
T. Smallacombe (sk), C. Lander,N. Lewis, G.Papadopalous ---14
Sherro predicted Trystan Smallacombe's rink to bring home the point for this game, particularly because of the rink changes in Reg Humphryson's rink. He had a first gamer to do the leading and a new third. The score says it all
Reg and his new rink shot out to a 15/0 lead and that shut the gate on this game and they went onto a fine win against talented opposition.
Gary Papadoplaous played his first game of Premier League for the Cambridge Knights after playing more than 350 games as a leader for Doubleview.
S. Davies (sk), B. Axford, H. Ward D. Griffin --------------------24
The Jones Boy (sk) A. Heal, B. Katunarich,B. Kiely,----------.--16
Sherro said the Jones Boy and his rink would win this game and that Stein Davies would make life hard for him, Well Stein obviously has made life very hard, the Jones Boy's rink didn't win.
Again we see the change of third, Brian Axford and we have a win to show for this change
Ted Alden (sk), R. Bates, D. Moore N. Costello------------------ 24
D. Opie (sk), M. McGann,,T. Walsh, G. Kane-------------.-------24
Ted Alden's rink has been impressive in their past two games and here we tipped his rink to win. A big win looked likely bcause they shot out of the blocks to a huge lead of 17/0. That is a start if ever there was a good start. David Opies boys came back hard to level the scores at 19/19.
Strange things do happen in Lawn Bowls and it was from here neither side wouldnt let go and the game ended in a 24/24 all draw
Sth PERTH MILLERS 94 (7 ) def KALAMUNDA TIGERS 76 (1 )
PLAYED AT SOUTH PERTH
Sth Perth Millers keep rolling along and singing their song with a good victory against the Kalamunda Tigers.
Last week Sth Perth took care of business when they stitched up the Vic Park Reds and confirmed they are the real deal and at home would have been raging favourites to win the game.
Kalamunda were less than convincing when they beat they beat the Dalkeith Silvertails
at home last week. A win here could put them in new territory on the ladder.
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly------------------------21
B.Brandsma(sk), F. Anderson E. Sydenham, P. Coyle, -------------19
This is a narrow win to Ross Bresland and a good effort from Billy Brandsma' boys
We did predict a win for Ross Bresland
N. Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, S. Hamilton, G. Pauling--------------------27
N. Griffin (sk),R. Eddy J. Morss, T. Dellar,---------------------------20
Nick Reagan was the team selected to win this game and he has bought home the bacon with some help from the boys in his rink.
The rink has turned the corner which is what will make a difference to the fortunes of the Millers.
After producing such a bowl to win a place in the final of the State Pairs it is obvious that Nick can stand the heat in the kitchen
and we wish you the all the best for tomorrow Nick and Greg
S. Walker (sk), K. Pride,G. Reagan , D. Lyons--------------.---------11
N. Payne (sk),V. Beckley , R. Pringle, P. Nattalotto-----------------29
Neil Payne won as expected but we didnt expect that scoreline of 18 shots which is huge. The front two players set up this victory with a dominant display and that left the back end of Neil and Vince Beckley to tidy up when neccessary
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes, --------------------35
M.Biglin(sk)S. O`Neil, Price, J.Wardrop-------------------.----------8
Last week Mitch Bigin won by 22 shots to steal the aggregate from Cockburn and here we see a dismal effort from the side. Most would not have selected Mitch's rink to win but no one would have suspected a loss of this size
Matt Elull's rink are now the number one rink in the Premier League
and winning this rink game is no surprise. Well done to Matt and his team who have been terrific all year.
DALKEITH 85 (5 ) def COCKBURN ROOSTERS 83 (3)
PLAYED AT DALKEITH
There is something about Dalkeith, they have won two games this season and both of them against Cockburn Roosters. Not only have they won to dent the Roosters hopes of making the four but they also had their first homeground victory.
The other aspect of the win was it was accomplished without Marko Krajancic and his rink who have been the star performers for the club.
Also there would be a very happy Tony Skoric at the moment. Tony has not saluted the judge at anytime this season, he has been winless.
Tony is a former Cockburn player and his win against the great Steve Srhoy's rink was the backbreaker to bring about a well earned win and we now hope Dalkeith Silvertails can be bothersome to all other sides.
Cockburn have shot themselves in the foot somewhat, Last week they won on three rinks and lost the aggregate when Mike Zusman's rink lost 37/10 and we see another similar loss this week 36/10

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 82 (7 ) def YOKINE DOGGIES 75 (1)
PLAYED AT YOKINE
Doubleview have let themselves down and with 5 State players in the side you would expect a far better effort than what the have produced this year.
Yokine just don't have the cattle to match it on most saturdays with the other clubs and are making time till they start next year in One White.
There is only on bit of interest in this game and that is Rocket Heaton won his 5th game straight after a horrendous start to the season
