Round three has produced a round of results that most would not expect.
In very windy conditions such as today anything can happen and it did
Cambridge flog flag fancies Victoria Park Reds and maybe get the monkey off their backs with a dominant display
Wanneroo Express keep rolling down the line after a narrow but impressive performance against one of the favourites the Doubleview PowerHouse in their first game away from the depot.
Yokine strut their stuff on a top class green to put the Silvertails on notice about their status in the Premier League.
Sth Perth Millers are the masters of the carpet and beat a disappointing Cockburn who are not alone as far as visiting team are concerned when it comes to getting the big end of the points
Osborne Park relish playing their first home game today on an outstanding green and leave the Kalamunda Tigers in their wake.
----------------------L/R: Bill Galloway, Dave Appleton, Ian Payne
----------------
Three of the awesome foursome. They are unbeaten so far and had a massive win today. The boys played many bowls as if it were calm with no wind. what wind are you talking about we haven't noticed it, such was their standard on many occasions
throughout the game

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 88 (7) def Kalamunda 60 (1)
Today was the first game at home for the Saints and they would have been overwhelming favourites for this game. Two losses from 2 starts was not the best situation for last years Premiers and this was a game that they simply had to win.
Could Kalamunda who face possible demotion, upset the Saints after the form they have displayed in their first two games was question to ponder but for only the briefest of moments. With a fast green and very windy conditions to contend with it was mission impossible
G. Caffell,(sk) G. "Wings " Evans, G.Nicol, G. King-------------.-------17
N. Griffin (sk),J. Morss, T. Dellar, P. Natalotto-------------------------22
This was by far the most interesting game score wise. It was nip and tuck for all the game. On the 13th end the score sheet showed 12/11 in favour of Neale Griffin.
In very difficult conditions there were some brilliant bowls and Neale Griffin provided a lot of them as did "Moose" Morss. He showed some class in this game as did Wings Evans for the Saints. It was hard for either side to break away but finally the break did come on the 19th end when Neale Griffin picked up a big 5 to lead 21/15. That was the score that broke the back of the Gary Caffell led rink.
The general consensus was Neale Griffin, Moose Morss for Kalamunda, and for the Saints Wings Evans and Gordon King were the men who made the difference.
This is not to say that the unnamed players didn't contribute to the game, they certainly did.
K. Pickering (sk) P. Pendergast, F.DeGuiseppe, B. Couper------------26
M.Biglin(sk)F.Anderson,JohnWardrop,M. douthie--------------------13
The pressure was on the Saints rink who were winless coming into this game and were away to a flyer leading 11/1 after 6 ends. By end 10 it was Kalamunda who came back hard to be 10/12 down and holding 4 shots with only Kevin Pickering to play. Kevin drew the shot and what a saving bowl in such hard windy conditions. That was the end for Mitch Biglin's rink because they only scored one shot for the rest of the game while Kevin and his boys careered away to a comfortable win.
The Skipper Kevin Pickering was the best player and a credit to him in the hard conditions that prevailed today
J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne, Bill Galloway, Dave Appleton---------------28
B.Brandsma(sk), P.Coyle M. Clancy, R. Eddy---------.-----------------11
Well the Saints have the "G" team but the rink of John Goddard is the "A" team and their power was on display in this game. Bill Galloway played some outstanding bowls while Ian Payne is such a good third why aren't the State Selectors looking at this player who has proved beyond doubt he is as good or better than what is going around.
John Goddard is the King and he rarely wastes a bowl and showed his class today, I am sorry Dave but I only saw a handful of your bowls today and what I did see you were traveling well.
Must say that Billy Brandsma saved his side from getting a bigger score against them and is a good solid Premier League skip.
D. Rankin (sk), P. Caffell, R. Lawrence, J. Coleman--------------------17
N. Payne (sk), S. O`Neil, E. Sydenham, R. Payne-----------------------14
Dave Rankin's side who are undefeated led 13/2 on the 11th end and from that point on were challenged by Neil Payne's rink who refused to surrender to the conditions or Dave Rankin's rink
Neil Payne and his boys slowly but surely whittled the huge deficit away to be going into the last end 14/16 and a big chance to draw the rink however Dave Rankin with the last bowl of the game rolled an Osborne Park bowl up for shot to retain their unbeaten record
WANNEROO EXPRESS 81 (6) def DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 79 (2)
Two undefeated sides going head to head, our poll 86/35 telling us the PowerHouse would win the game. The Express playing their first away game for the season were real underdogs. Yes even Sherro tipped 8/0
What did the Express have that would worry the PowerHouse, after all there is strength in most positions in the their 16. Could the new Wanneroo recruits stand up to the pressure and deliver in the pressure cooker environment playing last years runner up for the flag ?
Well we see that Geoff "The MailMan" Ellis apparently played another blinder and turned it on to full throttle to squeeze the life out of the James Jaworski led rink. That would be his biggest loss for James since he started skippering.
Geoff they say is playing the bowls of his life and we will have a look and see how many State players he has beaten over the past few years. Last season he defeated Daniel Trewhella 30/10. Daniel was the outstanding skip last season and the way he is going could be this season also.
The Wanneroo Wizard and his rink have been in some great form from the start of the season and today they broke thru for their first win and how timely to take a point and play a good role in helping the aggregate
For the PowerHouse Daniel Trewhella and his rink had a comfortable win and remains unbeaten so far this season.
Kyle McIlroy rink had their first win for the season today against Ron Bates who was in the same boat and looking to break the ice.
All in all a great win to the Express who have thrown a spanner in the works and lets hope for the competitions sake they can keep doing it.
S. Davies (sk), T. Alden, S. Alden, D. Griffin----------------------17
D. Trewhella (sk) R. Dempsey, J. Bausor, C. Slavich-------------28
G. Ellis (sk), P. Knight, Dave Triffit, H. Ward--------------------33
J. Jaworski (sk) Prickles Thorn, D. Slavich, P. Ker--------------16
C. Adams(sk), R. Humphryson, P. Potts, S. Donohue-----------19
J. Slavich (sk) P. Buller, R. Barns, C. Tunstall.------------------13
R. Bates (sk), B. Axford, N. Costello, M. Hulbert----------------12
K. McIlroy (sk) A. Delaporte, G. Nelson, M. Mitchell-----------22
CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 91 (7) def VICTORIA PARK REDS 57 (1)
Cambridge Knights have at last got the monkey off their backs and no longer have to worry about sides that have the colour red on their shirt. Coming into this game it was hard to make a case for them playing the Reds, no wins and a bad loss to the Express in their last game and were given a lesson on how to play the game.
The Reds have had a couple of close games but they were wins and that is all that matters. They have had the wood over the Knights and why shouldn't it keep happening, after all the new recruits have made the team a stronger side than the one they had last season, The Reds haven't hit full power just yet and today would confirm their favoritism for the flag. That was not to be with the scoreline showing the Knights winners in a stunning form reversal from the previous week
T. Smallacombe(sk), N. Lewis, S. Rushforth, B. Kiely----------23
R. Butler (sk), S. Knott, W. Butler, G. Faulkner------------------8
Trystan Smallacombe's rink were not in their best form last week and still almost snared a win against Stein Davies. Rhett Butler and his rink won the game for the Reds and Gavin Faulkner had played a ripper game as a lead.
Well the score line shows a huge win and the word we have is Trystan had a huge game today.
David Opie(sk), Brian Kat, Mick McGann, Greg Kane-----------13
A. Provost (sk), J. Mitchell, C. McNeil, D. Paterson -------------22
Anthony Provost lost last week and the word was it was not one of his better games.
We are all aware of his capability and he would not play 2 baddies in a row.
David Opie's rink haven't fired yet and were well beaten last week against Geoff Ellis. Today would be a hard task for the rink and the score shows us a comfy win for the Pro.
P. Harris(sk), C. Lander, R. Stockton, W. Marr------------------28
G Wishart (sk), T. Mitchell, C. Hayes, G. Hiskins ---------------15
Last week Pieter Harris and his rink came from a long way back to draw the game against a red hot Clive Adams rink, This form has carried on while G. Wishart was a loser last week falling to the spell of John Goddard
A comprehensive win here for Pieter Harris who till this game had no wins to show for the efforts made so in this new season.
The Jones Boy(sk), Tony Walsh, Aj Heal, R. Bolton------------25
R.Hughes(sk), S. Bainbridge, T. Valiance, G. Quann ----------19
The Jones Boy and his rink were in good form last week at Wanneroo while Russell Hughes's rink had a close game winning by 4 shots.
Should be a ripper of a game and remember that the Jones Boy's rink beat Russell last season.
Well the game was a fizzer with the Jones Boy rink shooting out to a 19/0 lead and hung on to record a handy win. The word was that all players in the Jones Boy rink played well and Aj Heal was more then handy
YOKINE DOGGIES 80 (7 ) def DALKEITH SILVERTAILS 65 (1 )
The Yokine Doggies were overwhelming favourites to win this game after performing well with three of their rinks being very competitive in the past 2 games. Playing at home on their brilliant greens would be a chance to record their first win of the season.
Dalkeith stunned the bowling world with an upset win against Cockburn at Cockburn last week so they were in good shape to take on the Doggies.
------------------------Jamie O`Keefe delivers as Marko watches on
-------------------
A good win for Jamie O`Keefe against the always hard to beat Marko Krajancic
J. O'Keefe (sk), R. Rewko, A. Durrant, W. Coffey-----------------20
M. Krajancic(sk), R. Mitchell, R. Donald, V. Colley--------------17
The rink of Jamie O`Keefe had a good win last week against Kyle McIlroy so it would always be an interesting challenge for his rink playing against Marko Krajancic who is still one of the best shot makers playing the game. A tough assignment for Jamie and his rink.
The score does indicate a close encounter and a win for Jamie O`Keefe who had to play with the discomfort of having a tooth pulled the day before.
E. Dodd(sk) A. Davis, M. Lemos, J. Lorencs---------------------- 19
T. Skoric (sk),V. Santostefano ,W. Tan, S. Back--.---.-----------18
In the first two games of the season Eddy Dodd has lost the game on the last end and have been more than competitive. Speaking with Eddy before the game he said that Premier League was a hard caper and the standard was harder than what he has played in previously.
Tony "Gypsy" Skoric and his rink have been winless after two games but having only a small aggregate loss showed they were always in the games they had played. This meant a great game for the fans.
Well this is the win the Eddy Dodd led rink had to have and they have broken thru for their first win by 1 shot. These tough games will stand the side in good stead for the future, while Tony Skoric can take heart that they are competitive and a win is not far away for them
S. Edmonds (sk) J. Carter, Lee Farrell, I. Coghill----------------25
P. Bacich(sk), M. Lindsay, V. Santostefano,J. Morgan----------11
Scotty Edmonds rink came into this contest with a win and a loss while Peter Bacich had the same stats so it was all even for both rinks.
A huge win and the one to set up the victory for the Doggies. Scotty set the tone for this game and his rink when on the first end he drew with his first to make three and trail to make 7 with his second which gave the rink the impetus to stroll away from the Peter Bacich led rink.
R. Heaton,(sk) , I. Cooper, S. Sloan, J. McGrath ----------------16
L. Richardson (sk), J. McIntosh, A. Gryta, J. McCormack------19
Rocket Heaton led rinks have been in the wars and were faced with having to turn things around after the opening 2 disasters which cost aggregates and left his rink with a 53 shot deficit. Could they at least be competitive.
Luke Richardson filled in for Tom Williams who was unavailable for this game and recorded a good win first up to be Dalkeith's only winner
SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 84 (6,5 ) def COCKBURN ROOSTERS 75 (1.5 )
Sth Perth Millers have made a statement that they mean business after two good showings in their first two games and playing Cockburn on their carpet was clearly an advantage for them, they were expected to win against the Cockburn Roosters who were bundled out of last weeks game against Dalkeith in a dismal performance.
S. Lunn(sk), K. Pride, G. Reagan, K. Howieson-----------------13
L. Catterick (sk), K, Cousins, J. Galipo, P. Novak---------------23
Steve Lunn and rink had a win to show for efforts this season and Gary Catterick had nothing to show, it should be an interesting game.
Gary Catterick shrugged of those losing blues to hand new chum in the skippering caper, Steve Lunn another loss to contend with. It seems Steve and his boys are having as much trouble as the the visitors handling the carpet and would need to lift their rating if Sth Perth are to maintain the rage.
M.Elull(sk), F. Carbone, M.Trojack, M. Hughes----------------26
S.Shroy(sk), J. Trewhella, S. Perica, M. Sokol.-----------------14
Both Matt Elull and Steve Srhoy were unbeaten going into this game and it should be a ripper of a contest.
Matt Elull led rink keeps going from strength to strength with a very good win here against the tough and usually hard to beat Steve Srhoy. However it appears to have been a comfy win for the Miller rink and maintaining their unbeaten record
N. Reagan(sk), S. Walker, T. Percival, G. Pauling--------------22
D. Brown(sk), M. Zusman, H. Sear, M. Trewhella---------------22
Nick Reagan yet to win and Daniel Brown yet to lose, Last year Nick Reagan led rinks were hard to beat. So far this season they are finding it hard to win and here in this game it looked like another loss was on the cards being 5 down with 4 ends to play until Daniel Brown had brain snap and played a shot that had no percentage and went down 4 to let Nick back into the game and come out of it with a draw. The main thing to come out of this contest is while Nick is not winning the form suggest a win is not far away
R. Bresland(sk), B. Bandy, D. Bandy, S. Kelly--------------.----23
G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, J, Ravlich, M. Muslin-----------------16
Ross Bresland's rink has been up and down with a win and a loss while 7 days ago Gary Carberry played sensational bowls to bury Rocket Heaton.
Ross Bresland won this game to be 2/1 for the season while Gary Carberry has won only one game of his last 9. Things will have to change for Gary if Cockburn are to be a force. Meanwhile Ross can feel pretty happy about the result today and will look at building on this good start to season 2008/9
