Round 13 brings another interesting round with particular importance to the Cockburn Roosters who play the Sth Perth Millers. A loss would see the Roosters chances of a finals place go right out the window.
This game will be played on Friday evening 22 cnd February

Game of the round is the the Doubleview PowerHouse and the Osborne Pk Saints, this should be a topline game, and also should reveal whether or not the Saints have the goods to win the Grand Final

Bedford Bulls host Kalamunda in a game that has no importance other than pride to win the game for each club

Cambridge Knights play Melville at Melville who won away last week and are a team that will want to show they mean business. Cambridge will want to be on their game.

Victoria Park Reds have already played the Wanneroo Express

Melville's Cameron Girvan in action

-Cameron Girvan
Cameron Girvan has had a great season so far, he has played a major role lifting Melville off the bottom of the ladder. His rink have lost just three games for the season

What a great game this should be between the Grand finalists of last year. The first round game saw the PowerHouse win by 6 shots. Last week the PowerHouse smashed the V.P Reds and what a message they sent to the wannabe's of the competition.

Osborne Park Saints on the other hand had a hard battle with bottom side Bedford Bulls and will need to lift more than a cog or two if they are to snare a win.

Both have had several changes to last years finals sides and it is the PowerHouse who have not missed a beat. Their changes have seen them maintain the top position while the Osborne Park Saints have been a little worse off

Big game performers Daniel Trewhella and his rink pose the biggest problem for the PowerHouse, stats of 10/2 + 104 are a good indication of how hard it is to roll this rink.
Have Osborne Park Saints made too many changes from the side of last season. At the moment there are 5 players missing from last seasons Grand Final side and one skip has been replaced, it must be remembered that two players left the club at seasons end.
The rink of Gary Caffell are not having the same impact they had last year are perhaps the most vulnerable in this game.
James Jaworski and his rink are just getting across the line when they win and will find this a different kettle of fish playing the PowerHouse.

For the PowerHouse John Slavich and his rink have performed very well this season and are the leading rink 8/2/2 + 61 will lead the way for the club, hopefully they draw Daniel Trewhella's rink

The rink of Jon Sharp is perhaps the rink that could be slightly suspect when we look at their stats sheet of 6/5/1 + 20. However the stat sheet doesn't show that 3 of the games were lost by a total 4 shots. What that tells us is the rink always presents a good hard game of bowls and are no pushovers.

Bruce Urquhart continues to go from strength to strength and his rink's demolition of Rooster Wishart was further evidence that he has adopted well to the skippers role

Bedford played well on three rinks against the Saints last week and why not carry on with that form one might ask !
Dave Scott has been good since his appointment as skip and is getting the best out of his rink as well as playing very well himself, their win against the very strong rink of Gary Caffell was full of merit especially as the game was played at Osborne Park
Cliff Graybrook and his rink certainly pushed the new rink of James Jaworski to the limit without winning the game and that is a good sign.
Stu Bainbridge and his rink had a real crack at the second top rink in the League and were beaten in only the last few ends.
With a performance like this the Bulls should be able to approach the game full of confidence
Bedford beat Kalamunda in the 1st round

Kalamunda are a hot and cold side and it is difficult to know what Kalamunda side will front the Bedford Bulls, the hot one or the cold one !
Bill Brandsma had a victory last week however score wise the other three rinks had poor results. Neil Payne's rink have better stats away from home this season and generally go well at Bedford.
There is nothing at stake in this game other than personal pride.

Sth PERTH MILLERS v COCKBURN ROOSTERS

Sth Perth Millers have an opportunity to redeem themselves after their huge loss to the Knights. The rink of Nick Reagan having such a huge loss 10/36, was almost unbelievable and wonders why this well performed rink would turn in a game that had such an embarrassing score line. They would have the pride in their game to make sure that won't happen again
Scott Walker and Geoff White led rinks did a great job and were very competitive to almost win their rink.
Again their is nothing in this game for Sth Perth other than to see if they are as good a side as the Roosters and that they can play a role in determining the make up of the final four

Cockburn have to win, no if's, no buts, this is a season defining game for them. Lose and it is farewell season 2007/8
If Sth Perth play as they have done in most of their games at home then the Roosters are in trouble and will have to produce something special.
There is plenty of motivation for them to have their heart and mind ready for the game considering the gravity of a loss.
Last week Cockburn let themselves down badly in a game that they should have won
The poor performance of the Daniel Brown and Matt Kurta rinks could not have come at a worse time in the season and they will need to get their act together if Cockburn are to have any chance of not only wining this game but making the finals.

Last season the Steve Srhoy led rink had a terrific stat sheet with 13/5 + 94 and finished third best performed rink in the Premier League .
This year is well below those figures and show 6/6 +12.

-----------------Lance Strahan
--
-
Lance Strahan and his rink are the mainstay of the Cockburn 16 who will rely heavily on their continued good performances their stats are 8/2 + 39

As the words in the song from the Willy Nelson song go "turn out the lights the party's over" could well apply for Cockburn
Because of the the importance of this game I am reluctantly selecting

----MELVILLE MAGIC v CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS

The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, N. Bolton, R. Bolton.
R. Stockton (sk), C. Lander,G. Kane, H. Christensen
B. Katunarich (sk) M. McGann, A. Heal ,C. McKenna

Melville were surprise winners against Kalamunda and should have plenty of confidence to take on the Cambridge Knights, Melville normally play their best bowls at home.
Every week we have made mention of the Cameron Girvan rink and how well they have been playing each week. Again his rink will relish the opportunity of playing the top Cambridge rinks and a win will not surprise if they draw the best of them

Neville Briely's rink would be over the moon with their win last week making it their second of the season
Steve Hughes rink have been disappointing of late and are battling to win a game will need to lift their rating if Melville are to have a chance

"Zippity do DAH, Zippity YAYE, plenty of points and winning rinks coming our way" is a song that the knights could be singing as they make their the way down to take on the Magic.
Cambridge have shown they are happy to play at home or away, just would not want to be in a complacent frame of mind especially at the home of the Mgic who have shown they have a bit of kick left in them yet.
An important change for the Knights with Chris Lander back into the side and he returns to play for Ron Stockton, this is where he played before his month long absence.
Some might argue why change a winning combination, Ron won 4 of his 5 games with Aj Heal playing as his three.

Still if Aj Heal can produce the bowls he played earlier in the season as a second it will be of enormous benefit to Brian Katunarich's rink who have been in need of a good consistent start up front.
Trystan Smallacombe and his rink had a narrow sqeak last week to draw his game and it would be nice to see his rink draw Cameron Girvan
