November 8, 2007......................................
The first round of pennants has already shown there is a huge gap between the best and the worst, Doubleview had A dream start and will be eager for a competitive game.
Osborne Park were pushed along by Sth Perth and that augers well for the competition if the newly promoted team in the competition can do that
Cockburn were also under the pump on two rinks again maybe a good sign that maybe Kalamunda will make it hard for the other sides.
Victoria Park lost on one rink only and have another easy game this week.
Wanneroo just made it in a tight game, have they improved or are they the same Wanneroo of last season, Cambridge haven't improved going on rink performances.
Bedford and Melville are in strife and there are no easy solutions for either side.

------------ROUND TWO 10th NOVEMBER
---------------GAME OF THE ROUND
-CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS v COCKBURN ROOSTERS
The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, A. Heal, R. Bolton.
B. Katunarich (sk) M. McGann,C. McKenna,D.Irvin
T.Smallacombe (sk) N. Lewis,W. Maher, B. Kiely
R.Stockton(sk) C. Lander, H. Christensen,G. Kane

S. Srhoy(sk), N. Fitzgerald,I. Jakovich, S. Vassalio
D. Brown(sk) M. Sokol, J. Ravilich, P. Novak
L. Strahan(sk) G.Carberry, S.Cerff, J. Galipo
M. Kurta(sk), M. Zusman, L. Richardson, S. West.
This should be a cracker of a game between these two sides. Cockburn were not all that convincing last week even tho they won the game. They welcome back skipper Daniel Brown who will give the Roosters that extra bite that was missing in the game against Kalamunda. Mr Magic, Peter Sardelic was left out of the side this week, while Luke Richardson has picked up the second's spot for Matt Kurta.
Matt Kurta after last weeks brilliant display will be in for a game if he draws either Trystan Smallacombe or the Jones Boy's rink, lets hope he plays one or the other..
The Mean Machine now have 4 solid skippers to fight their battles
The Cambridge Knights wern't far away from a win last week against the Wanneroo Express. It is obvious that Ron Stockton has to reverse last weeks performance. However his rink will find it no easier to bring up a win against the MeanMachine
Cambridge will rely heavily on the rinks of Trystan Smallacombe and the Jones Boy to force a favourable result while Brian Katunarich who lost narrowly last week will be looking to open his account.

-----Cameron Tunstall, a promising young colt
The PowerHouse who were sensational against Bedford last week but are well aware they had no competition and will find this game a different kettle of fish to contend with.
The only losing rink for the PowerHouse was that of Jon Sharp, Jon was in top form and was the standout player in a top class contest for his rink.
The other PowerHouse rinks did as they wished.
Will The Express be able to present a strong challenge? It is generally agreed that the Express have strengthened their side and two of the major reasons for the assesment is recruitment of Wayne Heldt and Phil Potts. The rink they are in, went down last week and are going to find it just as hard to win their rink here..
In the two games last years Wanneroo won on 3 rinks against the PowerHouse's 5, who have strengthened their side since then
..
I can't see the Express doing enough to win this game

---KALAMUNDA v Sth PERTH MILLERS

B. Brandsma (sk), J. Rollnik, T. Nattalotto R.Payne
N. Griffin (sk)B. Tie, M. Clancy, P. Nattalotto

K.Howieson (sk)G. White,F. Carbone J Cunningham
Nic Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, T. Percival M.Hughes
Scott Walker(sk) B. Bandy,D. Bandy, Darryl Stewart
The South Perth Millers did very well even tho they didnt score a point against the Saints, who were last years runner up. The Millers have a strong belief in themselves and that shone thru last week.
To lose on two rinks by a total of 4 shots by the Millers has the tipsters having another reassessment as to where they think they might finish. Nick Reagan's side led 11/2 and looking good for a huge upset in his maiden game of Premier League, his rink lost 12/23. But the word is Nick Reagan can play a bit.
Playing at Kalamunda should have no fears for them as players like Scott Walker and Steve Lunn have had a season or two at the club.
Kalamunda would have been delighted with their result considering they were playing at Cockburn and to come home with two points is a good result for them. Billy Brandsma, who had the best stat sheet for Kalamunda last season is sure to rebound from last weeks defeat and hopefully Neale Griffin can get his side to play the bowls they are capable of
Most tipsters felt that these two clubs will be fighting it out with Bedford and Melville for relegation. if last weeks results are any indication both clubs might have eased some worries as far as demotion goes.
This game should tell us plenty, Can South Perth Play as well on grass as they do on the carpet?
Saturday evening might help reveal the answer.

N. Minchin (sk), Pa. Hunter, N. Adams, J. Carlsen
B. Fullagar (sk) , B. Donovan, B. Radford,F. Andrich
The Reds have had a dream draw to start the season off by drawing Melville and Bedford in their first two games. It has given them a chance to have a look at their players and try out their combinations.
The Reds win against Melville was expected with Russell Hughes leading the charge, will again be a stumbling block for who ever draws his rink in this game, they were backed up by Rhett Butlers rink who had a fine win..
Bedford were dismal against the PowerHouse with the exception of Stu Bainbridges rink, Stuart himself was in top form and was his sides best player while Jim Gupanis who was only a late inclusion in last weeks team was the best of the front three. However Jim has been moved to play three for Cliff Graybrook.
The only thing the Bedford selectors can do is shuffle teams around to try to find the right balance to be more competitive.
They have moved Bruce Fullagar into the skippers role. Bruce will play his first game as skip in the Premier League and he will be hoping for bowls in the head.
Neil Minchin didn't get bowls in the head which must have been pretty hard to take after resuming a skippers role. He will also be hoping for an improved showing from his players.

---OSBORNE PARK SAINTS v MELVILLE MAGIC
G. Caffell, J. Jaworski, P. Ker, J. Coleman.
B. Galloway. G. Evans, G. Nicol, F. DiGuiseppe

J. Goddard, I, Payne, G. King, D. Appleton.

C. Girven (sk)K. Cousins GMcCormack, P. Simonetti
C. Fleay (sk),R. Kennedy, A. Keating, J. Birch
B. Alexander(sk), S. Hughes, J. Spadaro, H. Mosford
N. Brieley (sk) A. Tough, R. Ireland J.Andrews
Osborne Park Saints had to fight very hard to beat the Millers last week but their fighting qualities came to the fore to bring home the 8 points.
I expect them to win this game and collect another 8 points.
Melville have been caught short with so many player departures and players with injuries which will see the club battle in most games.
Cameron Girven's rink wasn't far off a win last week. In the past Cameron has shown he can handle the heat of the Premier League with some handy wins over quality rinks.
However I don't think Cameron last June would have thought he would become the leading skip in the club for the new season.
Brent Alexander had his first game as a skip in the Premier League and found it tough going as did Neville Briely. Unfortunetly for these two rinks it will be just as hard as last week.
The very experienced Colin Fleay returned to the skippers role was the only winner for the Magic will be hoping for an other win
