All quality here in this pic as these happy players for the Saints says it all, "PREMIERS 2008". Each of them made an impact in the game to give the Saints the edge in their great win.

GRAND FINAL
It has been 10 years since the Saints won the flag coming from 4th place to do so
There were a couple of notable things about this game. 4 players in this game represented the Osborne Park in that game, they being John Goddard, Fred Deguiseppe Gordon King and Gary Caffell, also in that game were the two Slavich boys Charlie and John along with Aaron Delaporte who played for Doubleview today.

GRAND FINAL
The Osborne Park Saints go marching in to win the premiership for season 2007/8 defeating a tough skilful never say die Doubleview 16.

This game had all the atmosphere with both sides in good genuine banter and encouragement for one and other along with great sportsmanship . The crowd was a lot smaller than the big game at Yokine last year.

This was sooooooo sweet for the Saints to reverse last years result when they lost by three shots in a memorable win to Doubleview.
Yesterday's loss in the second semi seemed to play into the hands of the Saints who lost that encounter by 1 shot.
Some players in this game have not played a pennant game for 3 weeks so having the extra game yesterday against Victoria Park might have been what the doctor ordered for the Saints

Today it was full throttle for the Saints on a brilliant Carlisle green that run all of 16 seconds where we saw the Saints get out of the blocks to lead 22/4 on the major scoreboard.

The major scoreboard through the game went like this with Osborne Park score first. It shows how the score fluctuated and how often Doubleview came back at the Saints then to slowly lose ground toward the end
20/4 , 22/14 , 38/36 , 46/37 , 50/48 , 55/48 , 62/50 , 70/54 and 74/57 on the 77th end

The game that I got to see the most of was the game between John Goddard and John Slavich and what a cracker it was. John Goddard and his rink got away to a flyer to lead 9/0 after 4 ends courtesy of some great leading by Dave Appleton.
The Battle between John Goddard and John Slavich started to turn with some great leading by Cameron Tunstall who seems destined for a big future in the game and John Slavich playing a very solid game. The scoreboard showed John Slavich leading 13/10 in a big turn around for his team.

Things were pretty tense throughout this hard fought game as we see the boys concentrating hard as the arrival of another bowl is near

The 16th end saw a change which saw the pendulm swing back to John Goddard who had been getting plenty of drive from Bill Galloway and Ian Payne in particular who was reeeeeally good in this game. From here on John Slavich who was playing a great brand of bowls was nearly always under the pump showed plenty of tenacity and skill to try and weather the volume of Osborne park bowls that were ever and ever always in the head
The game finished up with John Goddard winning the game where he himself played a good skippers game. Overall the Saints played better more often and more so when the pressure was right on to get this result

R. Ball (sk) ,B. Urquhart J. Bausor, C. Slavich--------.----------15
Here was match made in heaven with the young James Jaworski in his first season in the Premier League and his first Grand Final. Robbie Ball is one of the all time greats and still can play the game at an extremely high level, there is no shot that he can't play, his draw shot is still a 10/10
It was a cracking game with little separating both sides and plenty of skilful bowls by both rinks. Neither side could establish the ascendancy. it was 9/9 on the 8th end then turned to be 14/9 on the 13th end for Robbie Ball's rink. This game ended on the 20th end with a 2 shot win to Robbie Ball because Osborne Park couldn't lose the aggregate.

D. Trewhella (sk), P. Caffell, D. Guelfi, G. King.----------.-------20
D.Katunarich(sk),P. Buller, R. Dempsey,A. Delaporte
----------16

This was a coincidence that Dennis Katunarich and Daniel Trewhella woul cross paths and meet again in a grand final. Last year Daniel won a close game by 2 shots.
It looked likely this would be a great contest with Daniel Trewhella and his boys clearly established as the No 1. rink in W.A while Dennis Kat had a great stat sheet to be the PowerHouse's No 1. rink. You couldn't wish for a better contest
Daniel Trewhella was having a great struggle with the Kat's rink where the score 5/0 on the 4th end. By the 10th end it was 11/8 then we saw the Kat make even more ground to 12/14 down. Daniel Trewhella's driving was most notable with many conversions or kills over the course of the game. NOT SURE OF THE FINAL SCORE

but victory went to Daniel Trewhella.

J. Sharp (sk),L. Thorn, R. Barns, M. Mitchell-------------.------13
The rink of Gary Caffell had played a huge come from behind win the day before against Robbie Ball and now Gary Caffell's rink had another big Battle on his hands playing the Alan Eddy Medallist Jon Sharp, they were generally in control throughout the game by a 5/6 shot buffer for the most part to win 19/13 in a high standard encounter.

--THO BEATEN TODAY BOTH PAT BULLER AND ROBBIE BALL CAN STILL SMILE
-----------------------Pat Buller and Robbie Ball
Two great players for the PowerHouse today were Robbie Ball and Pat Buller who have shared plenty of success in the big grand final in recent years
