ROUND SEVENTEEN
The completion of round seventeen saw Melville almost bury the hopes and dreams of the Bedford Bulls with a convincing victory against a side that had it all in front of them. The end of an era for both clubs who have provided many great moments in the Premier League
Round seventeen has 8 clubs involved in todays games which have taken place due to State side committments by several players.
This round so far has seen one major upset and that is Kalamunda who defeated the Wanneroo Express by a whopping margin to probably save themselves from relegation,
The PowerHouse were like a nuclear reactor today on two rinks while their other two rinks are in need a recharge. Sth Perth Millers would be surprised with the scoreline on a couple of rinks.
Osborne Park Saints storm to victory over the Cambridge Knights and stake their claim for the all important second place
Cockburn complete a big weekend with victories over The PowerHouse and the Victoria Park Reds

MELVILLE MAGIC 90 (6) def BEDFORD BULLS 70 (2)
Melville who are resigned to playing One White next season and have almost sealed the Bulls fate and could join then after a rare aggregate win.
It was not a happy site to witness the last game that Bedford might play at home or in the Premier League for sometime, if ever.
Likewise to see a name like Melville that has been such a big part of the premier league scene depart and like Bedford. it could be forever.
Also it would appear that a true legend of the game, Doc Oakley will never make another appearance at Bedford as a Premier League player or play in this division ever again..
The game confirmed that both sides, who suffered such huge player losses at the start of the pennant season would be the strugglers this season. But who would have thought that the bottom side, Melville would have accounted for Bedford in such spectacular fashion to make certain that Bedford would join them. After all Bedford had all the reasons in the world to play well today.
Bedford fell at the second last hurdle and the biggest of those falls was Cliff Graybrook's rink who were smashed right off the green to the tune of 28/12 courtesty of a rink that has struggled to win games this season, Neville Briely.
Word is Neville's great win was acheived by the front end who were so dominent throughout the game.
Barry Gartrell returned to the skippers role for the club but ran into a red hot Cameron Girvan and his rink. Barry said that Cameron was doing so much damage in a very skilful display and that he himself was a bit rusty playing only three Premier league games this season.
The best news story at Bedford has been the emergence of Steve Rushforth as a skipper, he has a very solid side who give their best to the cause, It was noticable that Steve and the rink scored an 8 in this game.
That means Paul Hunter now has got two 8's for and one against this season.
Stu Bainbridge's rink won their point against a gallant Steve Hughes led rink with little between the scores for most of the game

COCKBURN ROOSTERS 78 (7) def VICTORIA PARK REDS 68 (1)
The Cockburn Roosters continue to hang in there with another stirring win in a close and hard fought encounter against the Reds.
A loss was curtains for Cockburn and once again their fighting spirit was on display. To come away with 7 points at the Home of the Reds is an acheivement.
Cockburn will play Osborne Park Saints at Cockburn and they would have a chance of victory however the Saints are on a roll and in top form.
What now for the Reds ? They play the Millers at their home ground and need to win to make certain of a finals appearance. We are aware of how difficult it is to beat the Millers at home.
Lance Strahan continues on with his winning ways and Daniel Brown has hit the right note at a very important time for the Roosters while Steve Srhoy's rink broke their losing run to record an important win today.

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 107 (6) def Sth PERTH MILLERS 56 (2)
The PowerHouse are a bit of an enigma at the moment John Slavich's rink have run out of gas at the moment and the honeymoon is over for Bruce Urquhart.
On the positive side Jon Sharp's rink at last had a strong win 26/10, that is the rinks biggest winning margin for some time.
Dennis Katunarich and his rink recorded a huge win to ensure victory for the PowerHouse over Scott Walker.
Not sure why a couple of the Millers rinks would have gone down by such margins but pleasing to see Nick Reagan's boys take on their opponents to come up with a win, this rink is clearly one of the best competitors in the Premier League on any Saturday, if the Millers are to be a force then they have to take a leaf out of this rinks book and also good to see Ross Bresland come away with a win.

KALAMUNDA 94 (7) def WANNEROO EXPRESS 64 (1)
Kalamunda have been threatning to win a game with good showings in 2 of their last three games. Dont know what happened on Saturday when the Saints smashed them of the green.
Sunday saw a different Kalamunda reverse the horror of the saturday loss into a huge win against Wanneroo.
This is the win that Kalamunda needed and it appears that they are almost there in their endeavours to stay in the Premier League next season. Bedford play Melville at home and are capable of getting the 8 points on offer for the game so we will have to wait for the result of that game to see where we are at.

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 118 (8 ) def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 55 (0 )
A huge win and almost hard to beleive that scoreline. The Osborne Park Saints taking this game by such a margin, I have no feedback on the game but the rink scores tell the tale
What happened, who turned the lights out where we see all rinks losing for the Knights after three of their rinks were superb in their game against the Reds the day before.
The biggest surprise was that of Daniel Trewhella's rink taking Trystan Smallacombe's team who was W.A's leading rink apart. It is not the win by Daniel that is a surprise just the margin.
John Goddard and his rink got hold of Ron Stockton and had a comfortable win. I had seen Ron Stockton's rink the previous day and they played exceptionally well.
The loss in the two games played over the weekend may cost the Knights dearly but all is not lost yet with the last games of the round yet to be decided
