February 23, 2008
In a major boilover, perhaps the boilover of the season The mighty fighting Bedford Bulls penetrate the Fortress out at Cambridge and take home the big end of the points and regain some credibility and some hope of avoiding relegation in the Premier League.
Doubleview PowerHouse win, but only just against the boys from the hills at Kalamunda
Osborne Park stand firm in a hard tussle against The Victoria Park Reds to give them a chance to make the second semi for the double chance
Wanneroo amazingly have kept their slim chance of a finals place alive with an important win today against the Sth Perth Millers who can not win away from their home greens.
Cockburn get there but only just against a resilient Melville Magic who threw every thing into this game

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 77 (7) def KALAMUNDA 70 (1)
This game did represent a challenge for the PowerHouse playing at Kalamunda where we have had reports that the greens are not as good as they can be and also having to contend with a strong easterly blowing across the ground.( Kalamunda to)
Kalamunda had to show they were not the easy beats they appeared to have become of late and with relegation still a possibility a good show was a must regardless of who the opposition was.
The PowerHouse just got there in a close game where we see Bruce Urquhart lose his first game as a skipper to a quality 4 in Neil Payne's rink. Neil Payne's rink also have had trouble winning at home and this win could turn out to be so important after Bedford's win against Cambridge today with every point counting.
Dennis Katunarich's rink led the way for the PowerHouse with a neat 7 shot margin against Mitch Biglin's rink to stretch their winning streak to 5 on end
The other PowerHouse rinks had to struggle for victory which they accomplished by small margins where we see the rink of Billy Brandsma just fall by 3 to Jon Sharp's rink who are the masters of the close game
John Slavich's rink has had some close shaves this year and again come up trumps against Neil Griffin's rink by 2 shots.

BEDFORD BULLS 77 (6) def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 72 (2)
Cambridge who have been unbeatable at home, fell to a determined Bedford Bulls side today. After last weeks narrow win against the bottom side Melville, this loss has left the Knights exposed when they lose to the bottom sides, actually the knight have broken even with the two bottom sides, and that is all. This loss has cost them any chance of hosting the finals and possibly the coveted second place at seasons end and also taken away the glamour of their next game which is against the PowerHouse,
Bedford on the other hand would be celebrating long and hard after such a victory being the first side to win at Cambridge this season and boosting their stocks to perhaps avoid relegation, the dream is still alive for them.
D. Scott (sk) N. Minchin, J. Gupanis, J. Winship----------------12
T.Smallacombe (sk) N. Lewis,W. Maher, B. Kiely ------------.--15
One would have backed Trystan Smallacombes rink to win which they have, but it looks like a very hard fought game when we see 27 shots scored for the game.
Dave Scott and his rink have shown they are no pushover and continue to impress.
The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, N. Bolton, R. Bolton.----------.---16
S. Rushforth(sk),, Paul Hunter, P Hunter,R.D`Souza-----------20
Two wins to the newly promoted Skipper Steve Rushforth and what a scalp to hang on the belt rolling the top rink in the competition Word is Steve Rushforth and Paul Hunter played great games while Leader Richard D`Souza played very well in his first game.
R. Stockton (sk) C. Lander, G. Kane, H. Christensen-------.----12
S. Bainbridge(sk) ,N. Watson ,K. Hough, P. Turpin-------.-.----30
Didn't get any feedback on this game but it is interesting that Stu Bainbridge who has been encouraging all players in the Bedford 16 has had the biggest win here today and we see the quality of players they had to overcome, it is more to their credit. Very good to see Peter Turpin who is a new player at Bedford be part of such a huge win
B. Katunarich (sk), A. Heal, M. McGann, C. McKenna,----- ----29
C.Graybrook (sk),B. Donovan, P. Healy, A. Mayer----.-.---------15
A huge win for Brian Katunarich and his rink who have been under the pump. Word is that leader Chris McKenna played a blinder to help set up the victory and Aj Heal who took over as three from Mick McGann was very good while the skip Brian, had a nice game. The win was timely for confidence and we could see this rink on the improve in future games.
COCKBURN ROOSTERS 76 (5) def MELVILLE MAGIC 74 (3)
A game both clubs had to win, Cockburn Roosters again just getting across the line, winning on only one rink. The first round game between these two sides had a 2 shot difference.
Cockburn probably would be disappointed with this result winning on one rink but the scores show it was close. The win gives them an outside chance of making the four but a lot of things have to go right for them for that to happen.
Melville have thrown every thing into this game and winning on three rinks shows this to be the case
S. Srhoy (sk),J. Galipo, M. Zusman, Perry Sardelic--------------20
C. Girvan (sk), A. Keating, , J. Andrews J. Birch------------------23
Steve Srhoy and his rink seemed to have control of this game when they led 20/18 going into the last end and were holding a couple of shots when Cameron Girvan put the jack into the ditch to make 5 shots and win the game 23/20.
The word is it was a very good quality game with all players contributing
D. Brown (sk) L. Richardson,, M. Sokol, P. Novak------------.-.--17
N. Briely (sk), K.Cousins,R. Ireland, R. Whitewood------.--=----24
This is a result that would make the Neville Briely led rink jump for joy as it is now their 3rd win for the seson. They led Daniel Brown 18/6 only to see that lead frittered away and lead 18/17 which is a pretty handy fightback from the Cockburn boys. However Neville was not going to let this game slip from hos grasp and went on to win 24/17
G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, D. Penman, S. West---------------------14
S. Hughes (sk)J Hall, , J. Spadaro, H. Mosford-------------.------16
L. Strahan (sk) M. Kurta, J. Ravlich, M. Musulin-----------------25
C. Fleay (sk), R. Kennedy G. McCormack , G. Oakley, --.---------14
Lance Strahan and his rink recovered from last nights thumping at Sth Perth to record the only rink win for Cockburn and what an important win it was to give Cockburn victory.
OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 84 (6) def VICTORIA PARK REDS 77 (2)
On an 18 second green Osborne Park Saints stand and deliver in this most important game. The Saints were favourites to win A loss here could have set them back while Victoria Park needed to win to keep their momentum going toward the finals after their heavy loss to the PowerHouse.
The win for the Saints was set up by the leading rink in the Premier League by Daniel Trewhella's rink who have been the mainstay of the Saints this season and now have a massive 11/3 + 105 shots up.
We see the return of Ian Payne to the rink of John Goddard after recovering from injury, Ian is a more than handy player to have return to the side going on past performances.
They had a great game against Russell Hughes who played a terrific game to keep his rink in the contest and his form on this grass augers well for the up coming sides series in around a month
Rooster Wishart's rink recovered from the heavy loss to Bruce Urquhart to record a nice win over Gary Caffell who has lost his last two games at home,
Rhett Butler has continued on with their winning form to nail James Jaworski by 1 shot
D. Trewhella (sk), P. Caffell, D. Guelfi, G. King.--------------------22
J. Mitchell (sk), C. McNeil, E. Martin, D. Patterson----------.-----13
J. Jaworski(sk) G. Evans, , F. DiGuiseppe, P. Ker------------------20
R. Butler (sk), S.Knott. F. Holt G. Faulkner-------------------.----21
J. Goddard (sk) I. Payne B. Galloway, D. Appleton, --------------23

G. Caffell (sk), D. Rankin, G. Nicol, J. Coleman .------------.---.--19
G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, D. Florence, G. Hiskens ---------.---24
WANNEROO EXPRESS 85 (6) def SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 74 (2)
The Wanneroo Express had to win this game and were favourites to do so. With an outside chance to make the four every point was vital. They have an easy draw in three of their last four games but everything has to go right for them
Ron Bates(sk), P Knight, S. Alden, S. Donahue---------.---------21
Nic Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, T. Percival M.Hughes------------.-----22
Ron Bates and his rink flew out of the block against Nick Regan and his rink to lead 20/5. It looked like another big loss coming up for Nick Reagan, but as we said after their big win last night against Lance Strahan they are made of the right stuff and flew home and won the game 22/21. That in anyones book a darn good effort.
I think Ron and his rink would be reaching for the smelling salts after squandering a lead like the one they had.
S.Davies(sk), T.Alden,M.Hulbert,I Collins------------------.-.---19
G. White(sk),K. Pride ,Lees, Lyons -------------------------.------24
G.Ellis(sk),R.Humphreyson,D Griffin,S.Wright-----.---------.--21
R. Bresland (sk), T.Antonio, F. Carbone, D. Stewart,-----.-----.-16
That old man river Geoff Ellis played a brilliant game to take the point over Ross Bresland, they say Geoff was at his best for this game and the score shows he and his rink were in control over Ross's rink who had a grear game the night before.
C. Adams (sk) N.Stevens, G.Cox, P.Potts--------------------------24
Scott Walker(sk) ,Bandy , Kelly, Cunningham---.----------.---.-12
Clive Adams's rink has had a fair share of success winning 3 out of his last four games and it appears to have come good at the right time.
