SOUTH PERTH V COCKBURN
TO SEE THE RINK RESULTS SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO Sth Perth V Cockburn

The Doubleview PowerHouse just keep rolling along with a smashing win against the Osborne Park Saints with another emphatic victory.

Bedford do themselves a big favour with a most important victory against the Boys from the hills, Kalamunda. Perhaps avoiding relegation even tho a tough call is possible for the Bulls even at this late stage .

Cambridge Knights survive an action packed game that Melville seemed at one stage certain to win, the narrow win leaves some question marks about the Cambridge Knights.

Joe
" never miss a drive" Rollnik in action at Bedford, we caught him nicely here as he drove at the head and unlike the day the rink Sherro played with, Joe never missed one single drive, yes indeed, today he did actually miss on this occasion when we caught him on camera

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 88 (8) def OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 56 (0)
The PowerHouse have well and truly asserted their authority on this competition following their crushing defeat of the Osborne Park Saints.
While we can be full of praise for the PowerHouse on their magnificent win, it the Saints who have dropped the ball. This side had it all last season and were only three shots short of winning the Grand Final.
The question is how can a side as powerful as the Saints were last season lose by a massive 32 shots in a a game where they had to stand up and deliver a strong message, a narrow loss yes but not a loss of this magnitude.
Where to for the PowerHouse ? well obviously bring on the finals any time you like!!
Where to for the Saints ? have they had too many team changes or rink changes for a side that accomplished what they did last season.
One thing is for certain and that is the "old grey Mare ain't what she used to be" , Saints will have to get a jig along.

D.Katunarich(sk),P. Buller, R. Dempsey , A. Delaport--------29
J. Jaworski(sk) G. Evans, , F. DiGuiseppe, P. Ker--------------14
Word to come out of this game is that all players for the PowerHouse played the game that would have kept the skipper happy, Arron Delaporte returned to the side after a lengthy absence and replaced Cameron Tunstall who was unavailable for the game. He apparently did a good job, Ross Dempsey had an enormous game, Pat Buller who has been prominent in other events also turned a handy game.

D. Trewhella (sk), P. Caffell, D. Guelfi, J. Coleman.------------11
Well has the circle come full turn? John Slavich has been to hell and back after tangling with Daniel Trewhella in the Mt Lawley Consistencey where he was given the father of a hiding, played Daniel in the State Singles and came back after being well down to win. Today was showtime for John, Here he was confronted with a challenge along with his team mates to se if they could tame the Master, I have no other information other that John himself had an enormous game.
Daniel Trewhella and his rink have enjoyed a fabulous run of victories and are certain to bounce back from this loss.

B. Urquhart (sk) , R. Ball J. Bausor, C. Slavich------------------22
J. Goddard (sk) B. Galloway,G. King D. Appleton, -------------14

Bruce Urquhart won his third game from 4 games (the other was a draw) and what a contest with Robbie Ball meeting up with his great foe from last years finals, Bill Galloway, both playing three,
Looking at the contest it is a very good backend for both sides. Of course there is not much wrong with the front end either.
No word from this contest other than the score

SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 88 (6) def COCKBURN ROOSTERS 64 (2)

Sth Perth turn it on for this game and thumped the Cockburn Roosters. The loss by Cockburn has finished the finals campaign for this season. With so much to play for in their past two games it has been a dismal showing by his famous club. It is only the first/second time they have missed place in the final four

R. Bresland (sk), T.Antonio, F. Carbone, D. Stewart,-----.-----.-28
L. Strahan (sk) M. Kurta, J. Ravlich, M. Musulin-----------------12

Ross Bresland and his rink tore Lance Strahan and his rink to pieces with a very good display of bowls. Matt Kurta who was replaced as skipper played three for Lance Strahan and the word is he played an excellent game while Lance himself played a game that he would like to forget about.
Lance and his rink have been the best performed of the Cockburn 16 it is sad to see them fall in such a game of importance and by so much.
Full credit to Ross Bresland and his rink who when they are hot they can be very hot. They would be well pleased with this effort

Merv Hughes Sth Perth (pictured) Merv played an absolute blinder to put Gary Carberry's rink away for the count in last nights game to complete round 13

G. Carberry(sk), S. Cerff, M.Zusman, S. West-----------10

When a rink gets the flogging it received last week against Cambridge, there is only one way to go and that way is up. Nick Reagans rink rebounded as we thought they would but not by this huge margin of 19 shots. It is obvious they are made of the right stuff.
Merv Hughes was absolutely brilliant as the leader and Steve Lunn was running hot with a great thirds game while Nick Reagan and Tom Percival were solid

Scott Walker(sk) ,Bandy , Kelly, Cunningham

S. Srhoy (sk),J. Galipo, D. Penman, Perry Sardelic-----18

Steve Shroy's rink had a tight game against Scott Walker and as usual when the chips are down for Steve he always produces the goods

BEDFORD BULLS 77 (7) def KALAMUNDA 68 (1)
A great win here for the Bulls, their recent form suggested they had a good chance to take the honours in this game.
It is a long time since we have heard the amount of chatter and encouragement that was on display today, Bedford have had two new skippers over the past couple of games and have received a good dividend. Dave Scott even tho his rink lost, have been good and new skip Steve Rushforth showed plenty today in what I was able to see of his game on rink 3.
I am unable to watch a game or comment on a particular rink due to Bedford playing on rinks 3,4,5,6. Rinks 1 and 2 which are the best viewing were taken by 4th division. Sadly if you are an avid bowls watcher or a supporter you cannot watch the Premier League because the rinks are to far away. Hopefully this doesn't happen in the future for any supporters or my good self.

Steve Rushforth Bedford (pictured) Played a great game as skipper today and recorded a fine win

New skip Steve Rushforth made an impression on what I was able to see of his performance, I was not able to see much tho.
This was a tough game with little between both sides and with the high standard that was on display it was hard for either rink to break away. At the start of the 18th end the score was 12/10 in Steve Rushforth's favour and from here they broke away to win 17/10 in a great game of bowls.

D. Scott (sk) N. Minchin, J. Gupanis, J. Winship
------15
B. Brandsma (sk), M. Clancy, P. Nattalotto T. Nattalotto
------22

Billy Brandsma is as tough as they come and has lost quite a few games by small margins. Today was no exception as far as hard games go, his rink were down 1/9 after the 6th end. Time to get busy against last weeks hero for Bedford, Dave Scott.
Well this they did and swept to the lead by the 15th end to lead 19/10, that is some sort of comeback . With the aggregate in the balance Dave Scott's rink had to stem the flow of counters to Billy's boys, They were not able to bridge the gap but kept the score about even.
The best player for Billy Brandsma's side was his leader Paul Nattalotto who got things going and his side followed the leader
For Bedford Neil Minchin played some pearlers at the most needed time for the Bulls while skip Dave Scott also did similar things.

S. Bainbridge(sk) ,N. Watson ,K. Hough, P. Turpin
-------------19
N. Payne (sk) S. O`Neil, R. Hutchison, R Pringle----------------18
The scorecard shows that Stu Bainbridge, who was quite vocal with his encouragement today was down 0/8 after 3 ends. It took his rink until the 14th end to catch up to be 13/13. It was a great fight back when you consider the quality of the opposition. From this end till the 17th end it was a grueling affair and very hard to hold shot for either side where we see the score at 15/14 in Stuart's favour.
end 18 saw them lead 18/14, and withstood a last gasp effort from Neil Payne's rink to win 19/18.
After the game Stuart wa full of praise for the effort of the Bulls in general and he felt that the club was heading for a win today after some great efforts that just fell short in recent games and now sees the club doing better in the last few rounds

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 75 (6) def MELVILLE MAGIC 70 (2)

Not much in the score with this game, a mere 5 shots. Cambridge with every thing to play for and Melville trying for that last sliver of hope to avoid demotion.
The Knights have to be wondering if they are the real deal!! Lets face it, who are Melville on performances so far this year. A team that has some good players but just lack depth to to be a top 16.
With 5 ends still to play the agg was level and Trystan then scored 5 singles. Also Trystan, whilst winning 13 ends found himself down 7/20 with 9 ends to go and won all last 9 ends. Kats\' rink did play very well but Alan Keating at third was sensational and then he was followed by Cam Girvan who also put in some huge bowls. Doc and Hally returned.

At the end of the day a lucky escape for the Knights and again demonstrating that Melville are far from a spent force.

The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, N. Bolton, R. Bolton.--------------21
S. Hughes (sk)M. Randell, J. Spadaro, H. Mosford--------------13
A nice win for the Jones Boy and his rink and once again the word to come out of this game was the Jones Boy was awesome, and also that Joe Spadaro was a very good player for Melville.

The Jones Boy Cambridge Knights pictured below has been in tip top form so they say around the traps. Today was another stellar performance from the Cambridge Maestro

R. Stockton (sk) C. Lander, G. Kane, H. Christensen-------------21
N. Briely (sk), G.McCormack ,R. Ireland, Murray-----------=----14
Stocky and the rink seem to in the form of 2006/7 where they were so good, Chris Lander returned for his first game and it would have been pleasing for him to be part of the scene again.

B. Katunarich (sk) M. McGann,A. Heal C. McKenna,------- ----15
C. Girvan (sk), Cooper, Kennedy, J. Andrews--------------------23
Well week in week out we have been singing the praises of the Cameron Girvan rink and deservedly so here we see they have done it again. Can the rink lead Melville into safety zone? They need help and they almost got it today with an almost win

Victoria park 6(92) defeated wanneroo 2(75)

With this win the reds move to the top of the table by a point having played one extra game though. the Reds play the view at vic park in the big top of the table clash and would not want to dive top spot up after working so hard to get there.

For the roos it is where to now with this loss leaving them 10 points out of the four with the teams they are chasing having one game in hand the roos would be hoping for a few results going in their favour and having to win next week against Cockburn to keep their hopes alive to make the four.

Rooster 27 defeated Ron Bates 16

Ron Bates got out of the blocks early to lead 5 nil after 3 ends but Roosters rink fought back well to get to 6 all. the next few ends were very tight with scores being 7-9 in bates favour after 9 end. but however the next 5 ends would belong to Rooster and his whole rink playing some telling bowls to score 14 unanswered shots to skip away.

Rhett Butler 12 defeated by Geoff Ellis 28

Rhett flew out of the blocks with a 4 on the first end by taking Geoff Ellis\' bowl out after he had drawn shot after being 5 down. he led 7 nil before Ellis and his rink started coming hard scoring 28 of the next 33 shots to give the roos a chance for the agg.

Jeff Mitchell 34 defeated Stein Davies 9

Stein scored two on the first end from a glide to sit a bowl but however Jeff Mitchell was in control of this game from this point forward to skip out to 19-2. at this time the roo boys were rallying on all rinks to get with in 2 shots on the agg and Stein had scored 7 shots in 3 ends to get back to 19-9 and were holding 6 shots on the crossover 4 within 6 inches but Jeff Mitchell took control again to cold draw 2 front knockers to hold 2 which Stein could do nothing about this broke the back of the Stein rink and Jeff ran away with this game scoring the last 15 shots to put the agg out of doubt.

*Jeff played an absolute blinder converting when down to up on many occasions and cutting down when he rarely could not get shot.

Rusty Hughes 19 defeated by Clive Adams 22

This game was a very close and high standard of game all day with lots of tight and compact heads. it seemed that Plucker always had a slight edge though with Russell always playing catch up. while scores were 11-12 in Pluckers favour Clive managed to score the next 6 shots to jump out to 11-18 and have a big say in the roos fightback.

but like always when the agg is close Rusty and his rink knuckled down and came back hard to be 18 all and at this point it looked like they (rusty) was going to kick on and make it a big 7 points for the reds but Clive managed to score 4 of the next 5 shots to salvage a second point for the roos.
