Kalamunda defeat Cockburn Roosters in an upset of sorts, Way up on the hill the Roosters had their feathers well and truly plucked on a poor green,Cockburn were under manned for this game and as we said in our preview the result of this game could have telling consequences for both sides
The PowerHouse full of power, draw on two rinks again despite their huge win while the Bulls show plenty of spirit in their loss
Out at Fortress Cambridge it was the Cambridge of old who stole the show with their two best rinks doing the damage to the Wanneroo Express. The Express did a little better than we might have expected and how valuable those two points could be at the end of the season.
Vic Park Reds win as expected at home while Melville Magic get vital points in their endeavour to avoid demotion.
Osborne Park Saints show the Sth Perth Millers how to play on grass with a very convincing win

KALAMUNDA 82 (6) def COCKBURN ROOSTERS 61 (2)
There was plenty hanging on this contest, a weakened Cockburn were always a chance to lose this game with their top skips not available for the match.
The word last week after Cambridge won at Kalamunda was the greens were not in top condition. This is a recipe for disaster when a visiting side would have so many changes and two new skippers.
However lets not take anything away from Kalamunda and it was the rink of Neil Payne who led the way with a big win against the replacement skip Dan Penman with a resounding win of 26/9 while Mitch Biglin and his rink have continued on their merry way and disposing of Gary Carberry's rink 21/15.
Steve Srhoy won a close game against what appears to be an improved rink for Neale Griffin. It is a good win bearing in mind that Steve West played his first game as a three, the saver for Steve Srhoy was picking up a five on the last end to win by one shot. Also it is very encouraging for Neale Griffin to be competitive for the second week in a row

VICTORIA PARK REDS 91 (6.5) def MELVILLE 72 (1.5)
On recent form this should have been a big aggregate win for the Reds but
the Magic showed on two of their rinks that they had some spirit,
especially the rink skipped by Kieren Cousins who took it right up to
Russell Hughes who's front line were caught out by the surprisingly slow Vic
Park green to come up with an 11 shot win, well done Kierin.
The other
rink to match it with the Reds was Cam Girvan who fought out a draw with
Rhett Butler, Rooster and Jeff Mitchell continued on their recent good form
with big win.
The atmosphere and attitude down at Vic Park has never
been better and the Reds are a serious threat to the competition leaders.
The next few weeks will be crucial to the Magic to avoid relegation

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 92 (7) def Sth PERTH MILLERS 62 (1)
The South Perth Millers were on fire early on, grinding out an early lead. The Saints were turning a whiter shade of pale, as the Millers told their tale! After 20 ends, there were 20 shots in the aggregate in favour of the visitors. The Jaworski rink, looking for its first win, was 0-9 down, Goddard & Trewhella were both a handful of shots behind, and only Gary Caffell's rink was in front, albeit marginally.
However, gradually the wind was taken out of the Millers' sails. Midway through the game, Ossie Park had clawed their way back, and the aggregate was level. After another 20 ends the Saints had jumped to an 18 shot lead, thanks to the pressure being applied by the Caffell & Trewhella led rinks.
With 12 ends to go, the Saints had the aggregate wrapped up, and the only question was how the spoils would be shared. Two points were up for grabs, with John Goddard 2 shots ahead of Nic Reagan, and Geoff White 5 up on James Jaworski.
Reagan scored 3 shots over the 19th & 20th ends to lead by 1 going into the final end. Ian Payne played a bomb for the Saints to lie the shot on the cross over. However it was a precarious head for Goddard, and he was unable to attempt to gain another shot to win the rink, being content to cover behind the head with his bowls. It looked like he may have achieved a draw, when Reagan failed with his first bowl, and was off target with his final weighted shot. However, it crashed into a front bowl, disturbing the head. When the dust settled the Millers held 2 shots to gain a valuable point for the visitors.
On the other remaining rink, Jaworski picked up shot on the 19th end, then snared a 5 to edge in front, with one to play. The Saints were holding shot when the skips changed over. White then drew shot for the Millers, to apply the pressure. However, Jaworski was up to the task, and drew a counter himself. White couldn't repeat his first bowl, and Jaworki had won his first game, since his promotion to skip.
A solid performance by Osborne Park, which sees them edge into the top 4. South Perth will be disappointed with the result, particularly after their bright start to the game.

DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 81 (7) def BEDFORD 50 (1)
Doubleview PowerHouse won on two rinks against the second bottom side to deliver another victory. The PowerHouse have drawn on two rinks, John Slavich drawing for the second consecutive week winning the shot on the last two ends to draw the game.
Stuart Bainbridge also drew for the second consecutive week in draw with Dennis Katunarich..
It is heartening for Bedford to have done as well as they have today drawing these games.
Bruce Urquhart skippered in place of Robbie Ball and what a result against a side that was on song last week.

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 80 (6) def WANNEROO 72 (2)
The Cambridge Knights won a good game against the Express. Both sides have won 6 games each, there was a bit hanging on this game, for the loser life was going to become a tad more difficult. The odds were in favour of Cambridge but the Express can take some comfort to go home with 2 points.
T.Smallacombe (sk) N. Lewis,W. Maher, B. Kiely -----------------28
Ron Bates(sk), Russ Bates, S. Alden, S. Donahue---------.--------18
This rink is the top rink in the league and the main reason for Cambridges lofty position on the ladder. Taking on Ron Bates's rink who were in devastating touch last week and getting home by 10 shots led the way for the Knights win.
They did lead 13/1 at one stage so it was pleasing for Ron Bates and his side to get some respectability on the scoreboard. Reports are the game was a bit closer than the score might indicate, it was Trystan Smallacombe who played a couple of big bowls when in difficulty to save or convert.
John Carter was selected in the team earlier in the week and didn't play. It was rumoured that he had sought a transfer to play with Rockingham. There might be a bit more to this story.
His replacement Sean O`Donahue played his first game of Premier League and the word is he went well and can look forward to more games in this division
