Round 7 bought some very interesting results which have heightened interest more than ever in the Premier League and makes for a very healthy competition..
The big one out at Doubleview saw the Cockburn Roosters step up a notch to roll the PowerHouse in a thriller.
The Vic Park Reds are now more than ever in the mix after not only winning but coming from 40 shots behind against the Cambridge Knights to grab 7 vital points . A highlight of this game was the winning run Of Trystan Smallacombe and the Jones boy rinks has come to an end
The Sth Perth Millers ground the Bedford Bulls into the dust with a smashing win. It was topshelf for the Millers to brush aside a dismal Bulls outfit.
The Osborne Park Saints get across the line in a hard fought game against Kalamunda where all rinks had tight games.
Wanneroo Express in a must win game win against a very competitive Melville Magic. With the Magic getting their act together as they are doing it just adds to the intrigue of this suddenly changed Premier League competition

VICTORIA PARK REDS 88 (7) def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 84 (1)
Cambridge came to Vic Park to play and play they did. The Knights got away to lead by 40 shots which in any language is a great lead and especially over a strong and in form Vic Park unit.
Suddenly the rain came and so did the Vic Park Reds to overhaul the knights in a spectacular comeback.
The mainstays of the Knights, Trystan Smallacombe and the Jones Boy rinks tasted defeat for the first time this season courtesy of Russell Hughes and Rooster Wishart led rinks.

WANNEROO EXPRESS 83 (5.5) def MELVILLE 78 (2.5)
Wanneroo got across the line against Melville because of the effort the Clive Adams rink. The Wizard's rink with a new third, Neville Stevens got hold of Neville Briely's rink by a hefty margin to make all the difference between victory and defeat.
Melville are getting close to a win and to win 2.5 points is a great effort with Steve Hughes recording his first victory for the season against the strong rink of Geoff Ellis. Cameron Girvan rolled new skip Ron Bates, to take the other point for Melville.
All clubs that have played Melville have taken 7 or 8 points out of the game, Wanneroo have gained the lowest points tally for any club this season.
If Melville can keep their improvement up after the new year they are sure to become a pain for the other clubs that play them. A win cannot be far away for the club.
Neville Stevens Wanneroo (pictured) played three for Clive Adams and celebrated with a huge win for the Express

SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 102 (7) def BEDFORD 62 (1)
A lot was hinging on this game for both clubs a loss to the Millers could see them drop right back down the ladder. With time and games slipping away Bedford had to make the most of this game and win the contest. With perhaps their strongest lineup for the season with the inclusion of Barry Gartrell and Kevin Thomas there was reason for thinking the Bulls could win. While the Millers were below full strength with some player missing
Bedford chose to play the Millers on the grass rather than the carpet thinking it could be to the detriment of the Millers.
As it turned out it backfired with two rinks copping a shellacking. It would seem that Bedford have played all their cards and are well below the mark in the Premier League
---------------------------------------TROY KINNANE
----------------------
Troy Kinnane playing second for Ken Pride's rink played well in his teams big win
K. Pride (sk), Max Petrich Troy Kinnane ,V.Yates-----------------30
B. Gartrell (sk), K. Thomas, B.Donovan, P. Turpin.----------------10
This is the game I got to watch most of and it shows what a difference there is between the grades. Ken Pride and his rink won in all positions. Were always closer the jack than the Bulls and always converting when down made this a hard game to counter for Barry Gartrell and his rink.
Vic Yates playing his first game in the Premier League had the call over Peter Turpin who was playing his second game in the Premier League. The seconds Bob Donovan and Troy Kinnane had a good battle with little separating them over the game, Bob Donovan was Best for Bedford while Troy was having a good game. The third for Sth Perth Max Petrich had a big influence with his game while Kevin Thomas who was another to play his first game of Premier League was having a hard time of it and generally had no influence in this game..
Ken Pride was the standout player over the course of the game, his weight was very good and his conversions were excellent when required. Barry Gartrell was rarely up on the crossover had a difficult job to reverse things
The score card tells the tale of the match
10/1--18/4-- 26/7-- 30--10
Sth Perth won 16 ends Bedford won 5 ends
Best player in this game was Ken Pride and very hard to separate the Sth Perth players for the 2nd and 3rd best.
R. Bresland.(sk)G. White,F. Carbone J Cunningham --------------17
C.Graybrook (sk), J. Gupanis, P. Healy, N. Watson-----------------20
This was a ripper of a game with a fast finishing Sth Perth Millers nearly snatching a great victory. Cliff Graybrook's side got out of the blocks well to lead 9/2 on the 8th end. They kept control of the match up the 14th end when they held a commanding lead of 16/5. it was from here that Ross Bresland and his boys got things together and started their climb back into the game to be 17/19 down on the 20th end and a big chance to take the point for the game Bedford boys held their nerve with great close bowls on the last end. Ross's players were ever so close to moving the jack to good position waiting bowls but were unable to do so effectively.
Nic Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, T. Percival M.Hughes--------------------36
S. Bainbridge(sk)B. Fullagar, B. Radford, K. Burke.---------------14
This game was going ok for Nick Reagan when his rink led 11/6 on end seven. From here the flood gates opened up for Nick's rink as they swept away to lead 30/8 on the 16th end then 36/8 on the 19th end. It was the worst score Stu Bainbridge has had clocked against him for sometime.
South Perth won 14 ends to Bedford 7 ends
Scott Walker(sk) B. Bandy,Reg Neindorf, D. Stewart---.--.--------19
Paul. Hunter (sk),N. Minchin , D. Scott, P. Hunter-----------------18
A very hard fought game all the way thru with little separating the sides up until the 14th end. It was here where Paul Hunter got the biggest break in the game to start the 18th end 17/12 in front. From this point it was Scotty Walker's rink who came back hard to lead 19/17 on the 20th end. With Scotts last bowl he was down 5 managed to draw second shot near the ditch allowing his rink to win a great game of bowls between these two sides
Sth Perth won 9 ends Bedford won 12 ends
COCKBURN ROOSTERS 74 (6 ) def DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 73 (2)
They are back ! the Mean Machine take a big step to restoring their image as a tough hard to beat competitive unit with a stirring win against League leaders the PowerHouse. There was plenty at stake in this contest, more so for the Cockburn Roosters who's credibility as a power in the Premier League was on the line, They haven't had a settled 16 for sometime with some players playing well below their ability. They had to come to the game with the passion and desperation of past great Cockburn 16's if they were to win this game.
It was the new Cockburn skippers Lance Strahan and the highly rated Matt Kurta and their rinks who provided the spark to win this game by taking on the two best players at Doubleview, Robbie Ball and Dennis Katunarich and beating them. If ever a team wants victory it is a must they tame these two rinks.
D. Brown (sk) L. Richardson, M. Zusman, P. Novak-------------18
J. Slavich(sk) K. McIroy,R. Dempsey, J.Wholohan--------------25
John Slavich was the difference between these two rinks with a great skippers game helped along by Kyle McIlroy who also played well shading Luke Richardson. The battle between the seconds Mike Zusman and Sorrento Master Singles winner Ross Dempsey was pretty close.
S. Srhoy(sk), D. Penman, I. Jakovich, S. Vassallo------------...- 16
J. Sharp (sk),L. Thorn, R. Barns, M. Mitchell---------------------21
Jon Sharp has an important win in another tight game against Steve Srhoy. Jon Sharp has a great record when it comes to getting the point when things are tough.
The return of Danny Penman was most welcome for Cockburn and it appears he will be available to play for the Roosters full time after Xmas
M. Kurta(sk), G.Carberry, N. Fitzgerald, J. Ravilich , _------__ 20
R. Ball(sk), B. Urquhart, J. Bausor, C. Slavich--------------------11
This win was a significant one for Cockburn and for Matt Kurta. They faced a big challenge taking on the undefeated Robbie Ball at Doubleview. With a forced rink change Neil Fitzgerald played as a two in place of the very reliable Marin Sokol. The score was 20/8 with three ends to play in the entire match and the aggregate in the balance which Cockburn led by 4 shots. Robbie Ball's rink won those three ends picking up a single shot per end to fall one shot short in the aggregate
L. Strahan (sk) S.Cerff, M. Illich , J. Galipo-----------------------20
D.Katunarich(sk),P. Buller,B.Gearing, C.Dunstall---------------16
The only info on this very tight game was Joe Galipo had a good day leading
OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 96 (8) def KALAMUNDA 80 (0)
What may, on paper, seem like a comfortable win for Osborne Park, was anything but the case.
Kalamunda certainly came to play, and took it up to the Saints from the first bowl.
After 8 ends, they were ahead on 3 rinks, with Neale Griffen 6 shots up on Gary Caffell, Mitch Biglin 15-3 ahead of John Goddard, and Neil Payne easily winning 18-4 over Bill Galloway.
The only ray of sunshine for the Saints at that stage was Daniel Trewhella's rink, which was 12-1 in front of Bill Brandsma.
A light shower then changed the pace of the green, and transformed the pattern on all 4 rinks. The losing rinks all started to claw their way back, and by the 15th end, all rink scores had closed up, with Kalamunda having their noses in front on the aggregate. The Saints then stepped up a gear across the green, to finally win the aggregate by 14 shots, picking up all 8 points.
Kalamunda will be bitterly disappointed at not taking anything from this game, after being competitive all afternoon. The Saints, on the other hand, will be buoyed by their fightback, and particularly pleased to pick up the points on the Goddard and Galloway rinks, after they had been so far behind.
