December 8, 2007
On a difficult day due to the windy conditions at most venues, results went the way we thought they might with the exception of the game of the day.

In the game of the day, Cambridge strike the first blow for the competition with a powerful win against the dominant Doubleview PowerHouse with a telling victory this afternoon. The win has breathed new life into the Premier League

Cockburn smash the Bulls in a convincing display down at Cockburn but nothing to get carried away with just yet for the Roosters.

Sth Perth Millers continue their charge up the ladder to stop the Melville Magic in their tracks with a crushing victory that has given them 6th place on the ladder

Osborne Park Saints put the Wanneroo Express on another track after their win today. That track could the one that leads toward the bottom of the ladder

Vic Park Reds trip up the hill to Kalamunda brings a good result for them in a game they were expected to win, Kalamunda can take some heart in winning on two rinks

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 86 (6) def DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 63 (2)
The result the bowling world was hoping for in this contest
The Cambridge Knights had a brilliant victory last week against Bedford. The big question was could they carry that form into this game and would their two gun rinks Trystan Smallacombe and the Jones Boy's rink's take out whoever they drew in the game, form said yes they could and how would their other two rinks fare against quality opposition.
After a good afternoon both their unbeaten rinks remain unbeaten and on the way to the winning post they stopped Dennis Katunarich's previously unbeaten run
The rink of Brian Katunarich who were involved in a poor game last week stood up to the strong rink of Robbie Ball and lost in the last few bowls of the game but none the less it was what the Cambridge were looking for, with out this contribution perhaps there might have been nothing to celebrate. Another important performance was that of Ron Stockton and his side who also lost by only 2 shots to Jon Sharp's rink.

Trystan Smallacombe has been the most important player at Cambridge for sometime now and remains with his great record still intact and who would have thought the rink would win against Dennis Katunarich by such a margin. Trystan Smallacombe is one of the most skilful skippers in the League along with his players Nicky Lewis, W. Maher and Brian Kiely
The Jones Boy recruited to the club this year has been a god send to the Knights and is the outright leader in the Premier League skippers. He has a terrific team in Tony Walsh Aj Heal and Ross Bolton, their win against the talented four of John Slavich was a handsome one and helped set up victory for the Knights .

The PowerHouse never play pennants on their own carpet, the word around is they don't like playing on carpet so they will not lose any sleep over this loss because the finals will played on grass. Cambridge have shown they can handle the grass so it is handy to be able to handle both types of tracks. The PowerHouse will bounce back from here but do have another challenge next week against Cockburn

Tony Walsh, Cambridge (pictured below) an integral part of the Jones Boy rink is a happy chappy after his Clubs great victory today

OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 103 (6) def WANNEROO EXPRESS 69 (2)

Osborne Park Saints went into the game aware that victory was a must. They also kept second gamers Daniel Guelfi, Daniel Adams in the side of Daniel Trewhella and so far haven't lost a game. With narrow losses in their past three games and a Wanneroo Express looking to rebound after last week's disaster game againt the Millers. The stage was set for great game.
A great game it turned out to be for the Saints who demolished the Express with Daniel Trewhella and his new look rink smashing Neville Stevens's rink with a massive 39/10 win
John Goddard who played superbly in the recent Sorrento Masters led his side to a whopping 34/16 win over the disappointing rink of Clive Adams.
Old Man River, Geoff Ellis and his rink continues on in great form with a neat 8 shot victory over Bill Galloway's rink who seem to be really off the boil, we can't write them off yet but they are looking a lkittle shaky
Stein Davies and his boys have won their point against Gary Caffell who is always hard to beat and this might be a sign of better things to come from Stein's side

Where to for Wanneroo, they can't hack the pace lately. This club seems to have gone stale and when they cop two huge losses such as they have in the past fortnight, might indicate all is not well up there at Roo land.

SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 99 (8) def MELVILLE MAGIC 57 (0)
The South Perth Millers have catapulted into 6th place after their monster win aginst the Melville Magic. They are well on track to avoid demotion and is a place in the final four a possibility for them. Probably we will have to wait because their win against Melville was expected, there are tougher games ahead for the Millers

Ken Pride couldn't win for love nor money in his first four games and now we can't stop him from winning. The good thing for Ken is they were prepared to jig the side around trying to get the balance right, Still not certain they have, but results are saying all is going well.

R. Bresland.(sk)G. White,F. Carbone J Cunningham have remained unchanged and again the result is showing stability for him and to beat the Gun side of Cameron Girvan takes some doing, even allowing Cameron doesn't play on the carpet much

Nick Reagan has been a find for the club and his results would be more than anyone could have imagined at this stage of the season had a comfortable win against Neville Briely's rink
Scotty Walker's rink has blossomed and are becoming very hard to toss on a Saturday afternoon.

COCKBURN ROOSTERS 105 (8 ) def BEDFORD BULLS 67 (0)

Cockburn continued their dominance over Bedford with a crushing victory today.
The moves made at the selection table have paid good dividends and especially for Daniel Brown's rink who had before this game won only one game for the season
The Roosters would have expected 7 points and to get the full count is a bonus.
Bedford have not won at Cockburn since Adam was a boy and would not have expected to win this game. They will have changes next week and it will be interesting to see how they line up against the Millers

Steve Cerff Cockburn ( pictured) has been a Mr Fixit for Cockburn this year and doing well for his club with several solid performances this season

----------------------Steve Cerff

D. Brown (sk) L. Richardson, M. Zusman, P. Novak
--------------26
C. Graybrook (sk) J. Gupanis , P. Healy, N. Watson-------------11

Daniel Brown has won by a huge margin with slightly changed rink, Mike Zusman came into the side and gave a best on rink performance. This win has bought up Daniel Brown's second win for the season.
Best for Bedford was skipper Cliff Graybrook who played an exceptionally good game today.

S. Srhoy (sk), N. Fitzgerald,I. Jakovich, S. Vassalio
---------./..- 28
Paul. Hunter (sk),N. Minchin , D. Scott, P. Hunter---------------22

Steve Srhoy was leading 20/4 against Paul Hunter's rink and looking good to set up a huge win. Paul and his boys got stuck into doing something about the situation and clawed their way back into the game. Last week Paul Hunter's rink had an 8 scored against them. This week they scored an 8 against the mighty Steve Srhoy on their way toward trying to win the game. Steve steadied the ship and got his side across the line by 6 shots.

M. Kurta(sk), G. Carberry , M. Sokol, J. Ravilich

B. Fullagar (sk), B. Donovan, B. Radford, P. Turpin--------------16

No doubt that Matt Kurta has had a lot of influence as to where Cockburn are on the ladder and going extremely well but the word is Gary Carberry in his return to the Cockburn 16 had a great day
Peter Turpin, the leader for Bruce Fullagar played his first Premier League game

VICTORIA PARK REDS 89 (6) def KALAMUNDA 75 (2)
The Vic Park Reds would have been expected to win this game by most punters and win they did. With a place in the finals beckoning for the Reds it was a must win game for them. Kalamunda are most likely still happy with snaring 2 points against a strong club such as the Reds.

J. Mitchell (sk), C. McNeil, S. Holt, D. Patterson---------------26
M. Biglin (sk) F. Anderson, J. Wardrop, M. Douthie-----------27
Mitch Biglin's rink has continued on with their great form by beating the well performed rink of Jeff Mitchell. The word is this was not a high standard game and sometimes that will happen when the wind is as strong as it was in this game.

R. Hughes (sk), ? Gilbert, J. Finlay, G. Quann. ------------------11
B. Brandsma (sk), J. Rollnik, T. Nattalotto R.Payne------------19

Billy Brandsma has climbed another mountain to defeat Russell Hughes who has lost his past two games since his third went over to play for Rooster. Russell's new third might be Rick Gilbert from Thornlie and if it is Rick he has been a quality player in the past and sure to be an asset for the Reds.

G. Wishart(sk), T. Mitchell, D. Florence , G. Hiskens ----.----30
N. Payne (sk) S. O`Neil, R. Hutchison, R Pringle
---------------14

Rooster Wishart led the way with a very solid win against the best performed rink at Kalamunda. The margin is a bit of a surprise considering that Neil Payne has lost only once up till this game
They change of personell in Rooster Wishart's rink has paid dividends and they are now a threat to who ever they meet in the future.
