What a great round of Pennants and another great advert for the game.
South Perth Millers come back hard to wipe out the memory of last weeks loss with a brilliant win against the Wanneroo Express. The bowling world would be happy to see the Millers topple one of the fancies for a place in the four.
Cambridge Knights have given the Bedford Bulls a reminder of what is needed to play in the Premier League when they smashed the Bulls into submission.
Victoria Park in a mild surprise have put the Osborne Park Saints on the back foot with a narrow win today
Doubleview have won by the length of the straight in their game against Kalamunda
Cockburn win against a determined Melville Magic in a close game. Melville might have turned the corner with this good effort today, however it seems the Cock burn Machine is possibly a machine no more.
Cambridge rink L/R: Ross Bolton ,Tony Walsh, The Jones Boy and Aj Heal.

This happy quartet are the leading rink in the Premier League after 5 straight wins and capped of a wonderful win today with the full count of 8 shots on end 11 against Paul Hunter's rink

CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS 105 (8) def BEDFORD BULLS 49 (0)
Cambridge came to Bedford knowing that a poor performance would be a huge set back in their quest for a place in the finals. There were worries with a rink that had contributed only a half point toward the effort of the 16 for the season, also would Ron Stockton's rink continue on with their recent form. No concerns with their gun rinks of Trystan Smallacombe or the Jones Boy. They were aware of the Bulls recent form and the challenge was there for them to run with the Bulls and put them away.
Bedford also had plenty to look forward to, form was good with their two gun rinks of Stu Bainbridge and Cliff Graybrook. A good feeling amongst the Bulls prevailed and having Cambridge playing on the tricky carpet would be an advantage
The match was a white wash for Cambridge who smashed the Bulls and collected the 8 points. they have two rinks who still remain undefeated and Ron Stockton's rink has regained their enthusiasm for the contest after three consecutive wins.
T.Smallacombe (sk) N. Lewis,W. Maher, B. Kiely-------------23
C. Graybrook (sk) J. Gupanis , P. Healy, N. Watson----------14
What made this such an interesting game is that Trystan has not lost a game and Cliff had won his last three straight.
It was Cliff Graybrook who got away best to be leading 5/1 on the 5th end. From here on it was Trystan Smallacombe's rink who dominated and they shot away to lead 16/5 on the 13th end gaining 15 unanswered shots. From here on it was fairly equal with little separating the sides however the fire had gone out of the game on the Master scoreboard.
Jim Gupanis has been in all winning rinks so far this season, lost his first game and ironically it was against his former club. Jim was not able to break into the Cambridge side for sometime has been a good find for Bedford.
The best player for Bedford was leader Neil Watson while all players for Cambridge contributed to the win
Cambridge won 13 ends Bedford won 8 ends
R. Stockton (sk) C. Lander, G. Kane, H. Christensen----------24
S. Bainbridge(sk) S. Rushforth, K. Burke, A.Mayer------------16
This was Stu Bainbridge's first loss for the season while the win for Ron Stockton confirmed the rink has lifted a cog from the beginning of the season.
The game saw the scores for Ron Stockton's rink leading 4/2 on the 4th end. From there on they zoomed away to lead 16/2 courtesy of picking up consecutive 5's on ends 8 and 9.
Well when you are down there is only one way to go and that is up. Stu and the boys got the score to be 12/18 down and a glimmer of hope but that was the end of the game with the final score 24/16 --the two fives being the difference in the game.
Best player for Bedford was the third Steve Rushforth
Best player for Cambridge was their third Chris Lander
Both players were terrific for their sides today
Cambridge won 12 ends Bedford won 9 ends
The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, A. Heal, R. Bolton---------------34.
Paul. Hunter (sk),N. Minchin , D. Scott, P. Hunter-------------8
This was a surprise for all at Bedford because no one expected such a loss from Paul Hunter's rink. The Jones boy had his players giving plenty and didn't do much himself toward the win. He was full of praise for his players after the game. They are now the top rink in W.A with 5 straight wins. Ross Bolton is a new leader at Cambridge and has done a great job in his first season in the Premier League.
On end 10 the score was 12/4 for the Jones Boy then then they got an 8 on end 11, by end 17 they led 32/5
.
Paul Hunter's rink scored 8 for the game and they were all 1's
The Jones Boy after the game said he didn't do anything in the game, his players did it all.
B. Katunarich (sk) M. McGann,C. McKenna,D.Irvin-----------24
B. Fullagar (sk), B. Donovan, B. Radford, J. Carlsen-----------11
This is the game I got to watch and I am never one to run down the games I see. However I must say that this was the worst game of pennants I have seen that I can remember. That is not to say all players played badly.
The leads for both sides would be far from happy with their games today but it was the Cambridge leader Dave Irvin who won the dual. The game was won by the two middle men for Cambridge, Chris McKenna and Mick McGann who were the best players for their side while young Brad Radford playing second was his rinks best player. Bob Donovan who is a talented player had a very quite game today playing as the three. Bruce Fullagar has yet to get a start from the leader in the games I have seen was generally down on the crossover, played a fair game. Brian Katunarich also was another who has played many a better game than he played today.
BEST PLAYERS
3. Mick McGann
2. Chris McKenna
1. Brad Radford
VICTORIA PARK REDS 69 (6) def OSBORNE PARK SAINTS 68 (2)
There was plenty to play for in this game and it was a matter of who drew who.
Was there an OP rink who could tame the Jeff Mitchell led rink who were undefeated. Would Rooster Wishart win his first game Who could topple Daniel Trewhella. Who would be the unlucky rink to draw Russell Hughes's rink.
Well all the questions were answered when we see Rooster win his first game this season
John Goddard and Rhett Butler have a warm up for tomorrow's big game in the Sorrento Master Singles, round one to Rhett.
There was the most fantastic finish to the game with John Goddard & Rhett Butler the only rinks left on the green, and with 2 ends to play.
Vic Park were 3 up on the aggregate. The end was killed a couple of times, then a most amazing sequence of events took place.
The Saints were holding a couple of shots after the leads 'bowls. Gordon King sliced the jack with his first bowl to give Vic Park the shot. Shane Knott then drew a toucher, to hold 2, with his bowl 6 inches away and the kitty a couple of feet from the ditch.
Gordon King then trailed the jack into the ditch, with his bowl touching the jack in the ditch. The thirds came close, but didn't alter anything.
With his first bowl, Rhett Butler, tried to drive the VP toucher into the ditch, but just failed. John Goddard didn't change anything with his first, and Rhett drove again, this time getting their toucher into the ditch and sitting on the jack - so the situation was that both sides' touchers in the ditch were touching the jack, and a no shot end appeared to be the likely result.
However, John Goddard drove at Gordon King's first toucher, which was now 5 feet wide of the jack, and 2 feet short of the ditch. He made the perfect contact on the bowl, and sliced it across the rink on to the touchers in the ditch, leaving Ossie Park with the shot. In all my years of bowls, I have NEVER seen such an incredible bowl.
So on to the last end, with VP 2 up on the aggregate. When the skips crossed over, the Saints held 3 (and the aggregate). Rhett failed with his first bowl, and John drew another to lie 4.
With his last bowl, Rhett Butler managed to negotiate a number of short bowls, to find a port and draw 2nd shot. With the last bowl of the game, Guts drove to try to remove the Butler second shot, but just failed, and the aggregate was Vic Park's by the slenderest of margins.

SOUTH PERTH MILLERS 107 (7.5) def WANNEROO EXPRESS 57 (0,5)
Congratulations to the Sth Perth Millers on their second win of the season and a special well done for Ken Pride who broke thru for his first ever win in the Premier League today. Ken had a nightmare game last week to contend with and to come back from that and roll Neville Stevens's rink who have played above and beyond in their two previous games is what makes the game of bowls such a challenge
Nick Reagan's rink really took to Geoff Ellis's rink and what a huge margin, 18 shots up at the end.
Match report
The South Perth Millers kept their season alive with a strong win against the Wanneroo Express. With a strong wind on the carpet, conditions suited South Perth who skipped away on three rinks to lead by over 40 shots by the halfway mark.
Ken Pride had edged ahead to leave Neville Stevens 16-3, Nic Regan's rink continued their great season and led 22-5 against Geoff Ellis, Ross Bresland looked like he had Stein Davies covered leading 19-4, with the only point up for grabs between Scotty Walker and Clive Adams.
That game see-sawed all day with first one side getting a run on with Clive pulling away to lead 14-9, the Walker kicking back to lead 23-18, with two ends to play. As usual the game again turned with Adams picking up a four on the 20th end to leave it at 23-22 on the final end.
Two South Perth bowls one just in front and one just behind the kitty looked good enough, but Wayne Heldt at three sliced the kitty sideways for shot and a tied board. With skippers to play Scott Walker drew second shot, just less than a metre away, Clive was just long and Walker through with their next bowls leaving Clive Adams to draw second shot for the point - he fell just short leaving- and a half point for each.
For the Millers rinks the "little Aussie bleeder" Frank Carbone had his best game for the Club as second for Ross Bresland, with first gamer Max Petrich outstanding when the game was to be won as third for Ken Pride, Tom Antonio also showed his class as a leader in a great duel with Russ Bates.
all in all the Millers on their carpet showed they will be very difficult to beat at home.
Word is a number of players were stung by the comments made on the Bowls Show about the abilities of the players and their right to be in Premier League - gents it's a long season and the fat lady is yet to tune up !
For Wanneroo it was no doubt a day they would like to forget and has thrown them back into an increasingly congested pack. The run up until Christmas is critical for all clubs but particularly the Millers and the Express.
The Millers have an opportunity to climb out of the relegation zone with Melville (home) and Bedford (away) and wins are critical with the Express taking on Ossie Park Saints (home) in a huge game and Melville (away).

COCKBURN ROOSTERS 79 (7) def MELVILLE MAGIC 77 (1)
This is the first positive step taken by the Melville Magic after a season of disaster and to have pushed the Cockburn Roosters all the way and to just fall short of victory is a great effort from the minnows of the competition. Lets hope the club can lift their rating and give the other sides merry hell.
D. Brown (sk) L. Richardson, J. Ravilich, P. Novak--------------20
Cameron Girvan(sk)(sk)--------------------------------------.-----28
The return of Cameron Girvan has been much needed and we see the result on the scoreboard, At one stage his rink was down 8/17 and things were looking grim. From that point on his rink dominated the game and swarmed all over the Brown led rink to record a brilliant victory
S. Srhoy(sk), N. Fitzgerald,I. Jakovich, S. Vassalio----------...- 20
C. Fleay (sk)----------------------------------------------------------15
A good comeback after last weeks dismal game by Steve Srhoy's rink to record a handy win here

N. Brieley -------------------------------------------------------.----119
This is Neville Briely's best effort this season to get as close as he did to the highly rated Matt Kurta's rink is a fine effort
L. Strahan (sk) S.Cerff, M. Illich , J. Galipo-----------------------16
Steve Hughes (sk)----------------------------------------------------15
Lance Strahan and his rink were in all sorts of strife playing Steve Hughes being down 1/11. It takes some getting back from these positions and get back they did to get across the line by 1 shot. Have to give both rinks a lot of credit and things are on the up for Melville if Steve Hughes can help lead a revival for his club. Lets hope he can
DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE 80 (7 ) def KALAMUNDA 57 (1)
As expected the PowerHouse were far too good for Kalamunda. The PowerHouse have such strength that it was always going to be a matter of how much they would win this game by.
One highlite was the win by the vastly improved Neil Payne led rink over Jon Sharp. This is the 3rd loss for Jon Sharp and the stat sheet looks pretty ordinary 2/3/ + 5, while Neil Payne now a has a 4/1 + 16
John Slavich's rink beat Mitch Biglin's rink by a small margin to record his 4th win for the season. Both rinks were on 3 wins apiece going into this game
