WANNEROO EXPRESS (6) 83 def CAMBRIDGE KNIGHTS (2) 78
C. Adams (sk) W. Heldt, M.Hulbert, P.Potts _______________14
The Jones Boy (sk) T. Walsh, A. Heal, R. Bolton.____________23
Words from the Wanneroo Express players, it was the brilliance of The Jones Boy with some outstanding conversions that made the difference of victory or defeat for his rink.
G. Ellis (sk), R. Humphreyson, P. Knight,S.Wright__________31
R.Stockton(sk) C. Lander, H. Christensen,G. Kane__________16
Old Man River Geoff Ellis is a player who can never be under rated, especially as a skipper. This landslide win has landed the Express 16 with the bacon.
Ron and his team are better than what they have produced today and will bounce back one would think.
N.Stevens (sk), Ron Bates, J.Carter, Russ Bates_____________19
B. Katunarich (sk) M. McGann,C. McKenna,D.Irvin__________16
Good start for Neville Stevens to win a close game. It is amazing how many times these narrow wins play a part in where a club might finish at the end of the season.
S.Davies(sk), T.Alden,D.Griffin,L.Johnson ________________19
T.Smallacombe (sk) N. Lewis,W. Maher, B. Kiely____________23
A good win against a reliable Stein Davies led rink here by Trystan Smallacombe and his boys.
DOUBLEVIEW POWERHOUSE (7) 114 def BEDFORD BULLS (1) 50
L. Thorn (sk), B. Urquhart, J. Bausor, C. Slavich._________26
C. Graybrook(sk) B. Radford, P. Healy, A. Mayer__________ 7
It was unanamous Prickles Thorn was the man. He did have wonderful support from his team mates. On most occasions when he was threatened with a down result he responded with brilliant bowls. YES it's true he did have team mates and they all played their part in the win.
Must say I am impressed with Baden Radford, he said the front three didnt give their skip a chance and said " Sherro we bowled crap don't blame the skip it was all over before he got to bowl". I love that, especially coming from such a young man. Baden you have a fan.
Total concentration as Bruce Urquhart gets this bowl away with telling effect

J. Sharp (sk),P. Buller, R. Barns, M. Mitchell____________ 18
S. Bainbridge(sk) S. Rushforth, J. Gupanis, K. Burke ______20
How would you be. Last season Stu Bainbridge played Jon Sharp both times, the score was 20/20 in the first game --the second game went to Stu 22/12
Well what a great game of bowls! this was a good old fashioned hard tough Premier league game, no quarter asked or given. Plenty of brilliant bowls from both sides.
It was Jon Sharp's rink that got away well on the score board, both sides were bowling so well and contributing to each others cause with the heads for ever changing. While I was not able to give the game my full attention it was the Skippers Jon Sharp and Stu Bainbridge who were both playing great games
Jon led 11/3 on the 8th end all the shots he had were hard earned. From here on it was Stu Bainbridge's rink turn to earn hard earned points and they were 15/15 all on the 16th end. The standard was great from the players but in the end it was Stuart's side that prevailed. Lets hope the side remains unchanged.
After the the game I asked the skippers what players were the ones who has the biggest influence on the outcome.
the group was asked also their opinion about the game and players performances.
Jon Sharp said the Bedford leader Kevin Burke's second half of the game had a huge infuence of the outcome of the game while Stu Bainbridge thought Roger Barns and Pat Buller were the player who made things hard for him.
They are both correct because these players were terrific.
Because I didnt keep a card on this game due to me wanting to have a broader veiw of the game with an eye on Bedford players, I am not in a position to disagree. But from what I did see Jim Gupanis, a late inclusion in the side was not only my pick but also the pick of the small gallery of spectators.
However I must add apart from Stu Bainbridges game, Jon Sharp also revealed there are far more shots in his kitbag than we might be aware of.
All in all a great game of Premier league to sit and watch on a Saturday afternoon.
Jon Sharp tried desperately to pull the game out of the fire being four down on the last end .He has played an almost correctly weighted draw shot, as the black line shows, it was a fraction off line, hitting the front bowl ---one bowl wider and who knows !

N. Minchin (sk), B. Fullagar, N. Adams, J. Carlsen________ 7
This scoreboard tells us as much as we need to know. Bedford players will now be more than aware of how far they are away from being anywhere near what is required to play at this level. There were many disappointing bowls from the Bedford side today in this game and hardly gives the skipper much chance. This is Premier League but you would have been forgiven if one might have thought it was not, from a Bedford perpective.
I am sure that Dennis Kat and his team almost fell asleep playing this game !!
J.Slavich(sk),K.McIroy,D.Slavich,G.Papadopalous_______35
F. Andrich (sk) Pa. Hunter, B. Donovan, NWatson ____.___16
This is a huge win for John Slavich and his team. What is disappointing, is the Bedford side never got a start from the front end to give John and his side a competitive game, or skipper Frank Andrich something to work with.
We can take nothing away from John and his boys, they took on the best that was offered from the bedford rink and we see the score board refect that.
After the win a very modest John Slavich said the his side faces bigger challenges in the weeks ahead but was more than happy, he was full of praise for his team mates with the bowls they provided today. He made a special mention about Paul Hunter's game who he thought was the best by a Bedford Player in the game

G. Caffell, J. Jaworski, P. Ker, J. Coleman__________________20.
Scott Walker(sk) B. Bandy,D. Bandy, Darryl Stewart__________19
Gary Caffell's new look rink didn't get it all their own way as the scoreboard suggests and they will face even harder challenges in games to come. Scott Walker and his boys have come agonislingly close to getting the point, we aknowledge the effort.
B. Galloway. G. Evans, G. Nicol, F. DiGuiseppe ______________ 23
Nic Reagan (sk) S. Lunn, T. Percival M.Hughes ______________12
A hard task first up for Nick Regan. Drawing Bill Galloway is not the best way to be introduced to the Premier League.
Nick would know this is an unforgiving game that has tons and tons of pressure, you have to have all hands on deck. It will be interesting to see how the rink handles it from here.
Hang on, we must say well done to Bill and his boys, and remember that Gentleman Bill plays very often on the Sth Perth carpet and was indeed very familier to him and Grant Nicol, you could almost call it a home game for them both.
D. Trewhella, P. Caffell, D. Rankin, P. Fair__________________ 19
K.Howieson (sk) G. White,F. Carbone J Cunningham___________9
What an assignment in your first game of Premeir League !! Who would like to have to confront Daniel Trewhella and his rink in your first ever game of Premier League
J. Goddard, I., Payne, G. King, D. Appleton_________________19
Ken Pride (sk) R. Bresland Nigel Rees,T. Kinnane____________ 16
I am not surprised to see the closeness of the scores, John Goddard is not easy to play at the best of times, to beat him represents a big challenge.
Ken Pride's rink can take heart out of todays performance, the scoreboard shows the effort that was put in today.
Any win is a good win and John Goddard would have been aware immediateley he drew Ken Pride, it would be game on.

I think Neil Payne will have a far better stat sheet this season and he will be pleased with this win.

M. Biglan (sk) F. Anderson,J. Wardrop, M. Douthie_____19
This is a heartning sign of better things to come from Mitch Biglan who spent most of last season learning the ropes of being a skipper and to win against this strong Cockburn rink is an acheivement.
M. Kurta(sk), M. Zusman, J. Galipo, S. West__________ 26.

The word is Matt Kurta played a blinder in his first Premier League game here in the West.
