Hey how did the Bedford Bulls Lose?
I can only say that Osborne Parks Paul Pendergast should be nominated for Sainthood.
In a brilliant leaders exhibition where he rarely played a bad end and made both bowls count paved the way for the big win against the lonley Bull rink who could not provide a counter to his almost flawless game.

Paul Pendergast (pictured) played a magnificent, brilliant leaders game to bury the Bedford Bulls today.

Magic do the competition a big favour as they turn the Roosters into feather dusters. Rhett Butler has gone where no skipper has gone before, this season.
Taking on and giving the previously unbeaten Steve Srhoy the old heave ho with a telling win for his club.

The Powerhouse win again and their stocks are on the rise, well almost, Kyle McIlroy loses yet another game and it might be time for him to hand over the reigns of skip, another loss is added to his already unimposing record..

Cambridge Knights have a complete form reversal and draw with the Wanneroo Express. After seeing first hand last week how the Knights were traveling I am surprised they have taken the reigning Premiers to a draw, but this is great, not only for them but great for the competition.

They say Leeming beat Morley and I think that is what most would have thought they should do. How ever it is good to see that Morley could win on two rinks.

Osborne Park(5.5 ) DEF Bedford Bulls (2.5 ) ......91/83
I caught up with John Goddard after the game and he was pretty excited for the Saints Players after their magnificent win.
"Sherro you tipped us to lose 8-0 nil and we knew we were better than that for goodness sakes!! and really, the win doesn't surprise us at all.
Just keep tippng against us mate, we love it. GOOOOOO SAINTTTSSSSSSSSS "
Well, I have never seen John so excited or annimated as he was tonight and why shouldn't he be !!

Bill Galloway (skip), Ian Payne.G. Nicol,D. Appelton..........................23

------------------------------23

This game was what playing in the Premier League should be what it is all about.
It was a high standard game with heaps and heaps of pressure on all players, skill level was terrific..
The game started out with the Bulls dropping a five on the first end. From there on the Bulls front end was on top. Peter Healy and the new recruit Greg " Mountain" Hill winning their positions, and leaving lots of work for the O.P back end of Bill Galloway and Ian Payne. We saw the score on the 6th end 8-6 in favour of the Bulls as they piled their Bowls on or around around the jack in very tight heads.
Up till the 10th end Bedford were playing better as a four, But Ian Payne was playing a great game as he was nearly always down when it was his turn to Bowl and having to rescue the situation as was O.P skipper Bill Galloway. While all this was going on Lance Strahan rarely wasted a bowl. At the 10th end the score was 12-12 and 5 ends apiece.

-------------

A crowded head: L/R: L. Strahan, Greg Hill, Grant Nicol, Ian Payne, Daniel Wood and Dave Appleton watch as another great bowl comes into the head from Bill Galloway.

By this time, Saints second, Grant Nicol started to have some influence while Woody who is a goody, was also playing a handy game as the 3 for Lance.
The game lifted to an even higher level with all players going bowl for bowl in their endeavours to win the game.
Ian Payne was always dangerous as his bowls kept finding their mark either getting the shot or cutting the count down to one. Bill Galloway was always in the zone and getting shot in difficult situations
On many ends Lance Strahan played brilliant draw shots to add to the count or recover the shot. At the conclusion of the 17th end the score was 23/17.
The player to have the biggest influence from here on was Ian Payne who had great weight control to save the situation or convert the score.
The game finally ended with it being a draw. A fitting result for such an oustanding exhibition of lawn bowls
Osborne Park won 12 ends to Bedford 9 ends

To pick the 3.2.1 in a game like this is very hard to do when so many players contributed to it being such a great game.

I have kept score of all the ends played and the stats show that Peter Healy won his position very well as leader, while "The Big Apple" Dave Appleton was having one of those days we all experience from to time. Greg "Mountain" Hill won his position, tho Grant Nicol did contibute many fine bowls for O.P. While Woody was a Goody and played many telling bowls it was Ian Payne who responded under pressure for so long in the game and was the main reason for forcing this game into a draw.
Lance Strahan was the most consistent of all players and Bill Galloway is as we all know, a class act which he showed today.
As I have stated this was skill and pressure combined today, a truly great game from all players.

3. Lance Strahan, 2. Ian Payne, 1. Greg Hill.

Gary Caffell(skip),Wings Evans. G King, J Coleman............................20
The Jones Boy (skip), C.Graybrook, Paul Hunter, V.Colley------------27
The undefeated rink of Gary Caffell met their Waterloo against the Jones Boy and his rink. This was a strange game scorewise because after 10 ends the Jones Boy's rink led 18-5 only to see that score whittled away by Garry Caffell and his boys for them to be 19-18 down on the 16th end. Both teams obviously has the ascendency, One in the first half and the other in the last half. From here on the game was up for grabs with only five ends remaining.
The Jones Boy and his rink finished full of running to win 27-20

Best for Bedford was leader Vaughan Colley who has been impressive so far this season. Justin Coleman came good in the second half for the Saints.

J. Goddard (skip),Fred Di Giuseppe C. Guelfi P. Pendergast ...............28
P.Harris (skip), S.Shaw, N.Minchin, J.Carlson---------------------------11
Well we have covered this to some extent and once again what a win for John Goddard and his rink of Fred Di Giuseppe C. Guelfi P. Pendergast
The win has come after Pieter Harris was leading 8/0 on the 4th end, I dont think anyone would have had a clue as to what was about to unfold. John Goddard and his boys went on to win all the remaining ends bar three.

Paul Pendergast(pictured) Outstanding leaders game today

This is a staggering win when you consider that the Pieter Harris led rink have not been beaten this season. I don't think many sides would have overcome such a brilliant leaders game from Paul Pendergast. But having said that there were three other players in this rink and from what I was able to see of the game John Goddard played particuarly well as did Fred DiGuiseppe and Cliff Guelfi.

D. Trewhella (skip), Pat Caffell J. Tyrer, S. Wattleworth.....................20
S.Bainbridge (skip), B.Gartrell,   M.Lemos, K.Burke
---------------.-----22

Stu Bainbridge has survived a torrid encounter against Daniel Trewhella appearing to be likely winners after leading 9-1 on the 6th end and cruising.
The Trewhella led rink came back hard to make it 9-9 on the 9th end. From here the Saints were able to force the pace and dictate the terms to lead 14-11 on the 14th end. Picking up 13 shots against 2 is a great effort.
With 7 ends left, there wasnt much room for error for either rink with the aggregate hanging in the balance. There were plenty of great bowls from both rinks and we see on the 20th end the scores were tied again 20-20 apiece
Stu and his rink won the game 22-20 to get an important point and and preserve their unblemished record so far this season.

D. Brown (Skip), M. Zusman,J. Ravilich, P. Novak-----------------------21

A huge win to Rhett Butler and his boys nailing the unbeaten Steve Srhoy was the telling factor in this contest to ensure victory for the Magic

Jon Sharp and his rink have maintained the rage and their unbeaten run with a one shot win against Daniel Brown who has notched up his second one shot loss in a row

Gary Carberry returned to the winners list with an new middle order, Chris Jones returned and Cockburn legend Peter Sardelic made his first appearance for this year and played very well from reports. The win against Cameron Girvan bought Cam's second loss for the season

A great game between Russell Hughes and Ant Provost saw a draw

CAMBRIDGE (4) DREW WANNEROO (4) ............. 88/88

Geoff Ellis (skip), Ron Bates, Barry Parmenter, Sean Wright------------.24

This was almost the last chance for Cambridge, a loss would have been the end of the season for them, Bowls can be a funny game at times because after last weeks game it was hard to see what direction the club was heading in, this effort could be the stimulous for a better showing in the coming weeks.

Brian Katunarich and his rink have returned to the winners list to help force a draw. Neville Stevens, a new skip this season for the Wanneroo Express has lost his second game for the season

Clive Adams has got away to a great start for Wanneroo with another win, this time against the winless Ron Stockton, who's rink have yet to reproduce any thing like last seasons effort. One of the good signs for Ron Stockton's rink was the magnificent leaders game by Harold Christensen. This player is one of the best going around when it comes to leaders. Clive Adams is the man who passed on this info to Sherro

Trystan Smallacombe has picked a handy win over one of the hard to beat rinks in the Premier League, Stein Davies

Geoff Ellis continues to keep winning and has one of the best rinks inthe business. The Scotty Edmonds rink are on a downer and have managed to win only one game for the season so far.

DOUBLEVIEW (6) DEF KALAMUNDA (2) ............100/59

R Ball, B Urquhart, C Slavich, W Langdon---------------------------------16
N.Griffin (skip), M.Clancy-E.Martin-M.Douthie------------------------.-.20

A win here was expected for the Powerhouse but what was disappointing was the huge winning margin of the Lindsay thorn led rink. Not sure how Kalamunda can get around the problem.

Robbie Ball lost to the best Kalamunda rink and one of the best in Premier league, that of Neale Griffin who continues to impress in the best possible way.

Dennis Katunarich is having a great year so far and has wracked up another very handy win and will win many more as the season progress's. Neil Payne has yet to win a game so far and will be keen to reverse that soon.

Billy Brandsma has also been a good for Kalamunda and is handling playing in the Premier League very comfortably.

LEEMING (6) DEF MORLEY (2)..........................86/66

D. Comrie (skip) A.Pryce, D.Nesbit, N.Bracken--------------------------36
W. Neilson , G. Grieve, B. Driscoll, B. Moyle ------------------------------8

-------------------20

W. Heldt (skip) B. West, J. Conner, G. Strahan--------------------------18
J. Armstrong (skip), B. Walter, M. Robinson, B. Urquhart -------------17

The Danny Comrie led rink has burst thru for their maiden win for the season after several frustratingly close losing margins. Wayne Neilson's rink has been smashed in their last two games managing a total of 14 shots.

Wayne Heldt snapped up another win and is the best performed rink at Leeming at the moment, John Armstrong and his boys are getting ever closer to their first win and that should happen soon for them.
Peter Aungier now has two wins on the stat sheet after beatingg new skip Jimbo Conner by a handy margin

Robbie Urquhart also has two wins onthe stat sheet after todays win against Jeff Richards's rink who have yet to win a game for Leeming and it looks like a win might happen sooner rather that later for Jeff.
