DOUBLEVIEW v OSBORNE PARK
First Rd at OP.
Osborne Pk (7) def PowerHouse (1).....79/ 77

PowerHouse (7 ) def Saints (1) .........84/65

J.Goddard, G. Caffell, D. Trewhella, B. Galloway

The PowerHouse have stamped themselves as premiership favourites after a great season. They lifted themselves from the previous season when the didn't make the four. One surprise loss to Kalamunda was totally unexpected but never affected their position in the scheme of things.
A powerful surge of wins in the early rounds established their superiorty in the competition

The Osborne Park Saints have had a tremendous season to finish second and what a far cry that is when you think that the side came within a whisker of being relegated from the Premier League last season. A couple of surprise losses to the bottom side Leeming were out of left field. Other than that they have shown they are a major force and not without chance to win the premiership.

D Kat, A Delaporte, R Dempsey, J Wholohan

Dennis Katunrich has led the way for the PowerHouse with stats of 12/5/1 + 114. His return to the skippering role had paid big dividends, aided by having a mainly unchanged rink thru the year. Word is that he was outstandingly brilliant against Morley last week, we all know that at his best he is almost unbeatable. It all adds up to seeing the side being hard to toss for the finals.

--L Thorn(sk), J Slavich, D Slavich, M. Mitchell

Prickles Thorn, who has made a reasonable recovery from an arm injury that plagued him last season told me at the start of the season that the PowerHouse would be back this year and of course his return to the skippers position has played a large part in the resurgence of the club and his rink. His rink also has been unchanged for much of the season.
With Stats of 11/7 +50 it is not a bad return for a seasons work. Form of late from the rink has been patchy and will need to be at their best over the weekend.

--R Ball,(sk) B Urquhart, W Langdon, C Slavich

Robbie Ball's rink has been up and down in the sense that when the rink performs badly they are very bad. However the stat sheet shows the rink has 11/6 + 57 and they are very good stats. It was announced that this season will be his last for the PowerHouse. The Premier League will be the poorer for him not being available.
I would expect to see him and his rink at their top for the finals to ensure a great send off for this champion of the game

K McIlroy(sk),P Buller,J. Bausor,G Papadopolous

Kyle McIlroy has an 8/10 + 27 which is not a great stat sheet. I managed to see this rink in action against Bedford and the rink was outstanding that day and has me wondering why they have a minus score sheet. They will need to be on their game for the series. If they can play to their ability over the coming weekend they will give a good contest, however they do look vulnerable

G Caffell(sk), P. Pendergast, G. King. J. Coleman

Gary Caffell returned to the Saints this season after a few years in the country and what a difference he has made to the Saints. He finished up skippering the best performed rink in the premier league this season. The stat sheet shows a 14/4/+74. The rink has been mainly unchanged for the most part of the season represents danger to what ever PowerHouse rink they draw.
Over all it has been a magnificent season for Gary and his rink and the best way to finish off the season is to win the flag.

J.Goddard,G EvansF.DiGiuseppe,D. Appleton

John Goddard has had a good season this year and is one of the major reasons why the Saints have finished in second place. His rink have come good with a vengeance winning 3 out of their last four games and taking out a couple heavy's along the way to ensure that the club would get the vital second position on the table. The stat sheet has them at 11/7 + 94 which is a good effort for a seasons work.

D.Trewhella P Caffell J. Tyrer, S. Wattleworth

Daniel Trewhella and his rink have a 10/8 +11 on the stat sheet which indicates that they are quite beatable. Will find it hard going if recent form is any guide to go by.
Daniel is capable of sheer brilliance and if he can produce his absolute best over the weekend a premiership beckons

B. Galloway (sk), I. Payne.G. Nicol, P Maynard

Bill Galloway has been the leading skip for the past two years at what ever club he has represented. Gosnells, then the Saints last season. Bill was also the R/U in the State Singles so we know he has still got the touch. This season hasn't been all that flash in terms of the stat sheet 7/9/2 -39.
This rink is the least performed rink playing in the second semi and will need produce their best over the weekend, to give the Saints a chance of victory.
Importantly the rink losses of late have been small for the rink and does indicate a win is not far away. The Saints will be hoping for big things from this rink over the weekend.

--- SELECTION COCKBURN ROOSTERS TO WIN

----COCKBURN ROOSTERS v MELVILLE MAGIC

----------------------THE BIG TWO
STEVE SRHOY AND RUSSELL HUGHES. CAN THEY GET COCKBURN OVER THE LINE THIS WEEKEND??

--

<

COCKBURN vs MELVILLE
First Rd at Melville
Melville (6.5) DEF Cockburn (1.5) ...82/73
Second Rd
Cockburn (8) DEF Melville (0)........101/78

S. Srhoy, R. Hughes, G. Carberry, D. Brown
------------------------V
A. Provost, J. Sharp, C. Girvan, R. Butler

Cockburn made the final four after a disastrous start to the season. They found the form that has made the club famous about halfway thru the season. The club has never been out of the four in its history and have as good a chance as any to win the Grand Final.
Melville, after recruiting well in the off season made up ground from last season to be in the top four all season. They haven't been consistent as one might have thought they would have been, considering their new found strength. They will be having a crack at trying to win their first ever Premiership. If all players play to their true ability then they are a fair chance to to win the flag.

S. Srhoy (Sk), A. Petchell, I.Jakovich, S.Vassallio

Steve Shroy 's rink have held firm in a hard year for Cockburn with a great stat sheet 13/5/+94. They were the 3rd best performed rink in the Premier League this season. Steve's great effort late in the season was the main reason the club qualified to make the finals.

R. Hughes (Skip), D. Penman , S. Cerff, Tepana

Russell Hughes rink has been equally important for the fortunes of the club. His stat sheet shows he is very hard to knock over with 12/4/2 +65. Russell has a big game temperament and with his team being very competitive they will give Cockburn every chance to make the final.

D. Brown ,(Skip), N.Pascoe, S. West, M. Brown

Daniel Brown's rink after a very slow start to the season has made a brilliant recovery to help the club make it to play in this final. They have 9/8/ + 37
At one stage this season they were one of the worst performed rinks in the Premier League, they have come a long way since those days and are a genuine threat to who ever they draw

Daniel has since swapped rinks and will now skipper this rink that was previously skippered by Gary Carberry

G. Carberry (sk) M. Zusman , J. Ravilich, S. Novak

Gary Carberry's rink hasn't had a great season. The stats for them are 6/8 - 30. The form of the rink has been very ordinary and look to be the rink the opposition would like to draw. There was a highlight for the rink, being the first to defeat Anthony Provost.

Gary has changed rinks and this might be just what the doctor ordered because the rink he has now has done well this season

A. Provost (skip), Doc Oakley, C. Fleay, S. Knott

Anthony Provost has the second best performed rink in the Premier League. Last Saturday's loss cost the rink the honour of being the top rink of the year. The back half combination, that of Ant Provost and Doc Oakley presents one of the big challenges for any side that plays them. Without their contribution over the season Melville would not have made the finals at all.
The ever present changes have not been beneficial to the rink.
If the rink can get a good start from the front man they will be very hard to defeat.

Jon Sharp (sk), B. Gearing, R. Barnes, John Birch

Jon Sharp's rink has been value for the Magic this season. After a flying start to the season the rink came to a shuddering halt and started to play below their potential. Since the sides series in Tasmania Jon Sharp in particular has been in very good form, apart last saturday's against the Bulls at Bedford.. If he can hold his form and his team mates back him up with good bowls they will give Melville every chance to win this game.

RButler (sk),B.Alexander,R.Kennedy,H. Mosford

Rhett Butler''s rink has had a forgettable season with the stats showing a poor return of 8/10 - 15.
These stats are a surprise to many and one of the reasons why people have doubts about Melville's ability to win the Premiership.
Last Saturday saw a huge turn around after being 0/11 down, the rink won 33/17. Rhett himself played a huge game and that should give him the confidence to produce that form again. It will have to be a case of all hands on deck to make sure that the rink is competitive

C. Girvan (sk), B. Mitchell, S. Hughes , J. Andrew

Cameron Girvan's rink havent been consistent over the past few games. The stats sheet shows 9/8/1 -13. These are only ordinary stats for a Premier League rink and it shows the rink has some work to do if Melville are to be a threat in this game. But as we often say, Bowls is a funny game and you never know what the next game can bring.
