Brother Pat Caffell with 2011 Club Singles Champion Gary Caffell on the right
January 21, 2011
The game that had everyone at Osborne Park talking, the two Caffell brothers Gary and Pat Caffell lining against each other in the Blue Ribbon event, the Club Championship Singles............
The Ladies final being played between Pam Haynes and Shari Solly at the same time also played a part in having such a large crowd to see two very good finals.
L/R: PAT AND GARY CAFFELL
March 6, 2011
The game that had everyone at Osborne Park talking, the two Caffell brothers Gary and Pat Caffell lining against each other in the Blue Ribbond event, the Club Championship Singles.
Gary and Pat have played each other around 6-8 times and they are around about even on that score but not sure of the exact number.
Pat has never won a singles at Osborne Pk, he did win one at Nth Beach when that club was particuarlay strong back in the 90's, he was a recent runner up in the Gold Coast Winter Singles back in July which is a very good achievement.

Pat beat some very good players on the way to the final which included Kevin Pickering, Osborne Park legend Rance Dewson, Jim Duggan last seasons pairs champ, Rob Lawrence the current State Pairs champ, as you can see it was a tough draw for Pat and now only brother Gary the final barrier to him winning his first OP Club Singles title.

Gary has a more impressive singles record than Pat, Runner up in the State Singles to Russell Hughes, winner of Australian sets play trip to compete in Sydney and a previous winner of the Osborne Pk Singles championship to name some that I am aware of. Gary's draw to the final looked to be an easier path
Should be a ripper contest and that is the way it went with never much in the score at any stage of the game, the biggest lead was 3 shots, 11-8 Gary's way and finally 25-22
It was a very good standard game with several good very good ends, both rallied when under the pump to draw shot, it wasn't an aggressive game because they were both so confident on the draw and on either hand.
Perhap tho it Was Gary who
drew just a tad better, but only a tad mind you. Pat played some outstanding shots late in the game to keep his hopes of winning the game alive because of his accuracy, picking up 5 big shots when down late in the game
The game had a lot of intensity about it as both gave their all, as a game it was tops to watch and the standard very high.
Congratulations to both players for making it the game it was....
This was to be the last end of the game, Pat sitting down and pondering what he can do, the scoreboard showing 22-23 down for Pat, he is in trouble and two down at the head and with only one bowl left to salvage the situation, he drove at the bowls but was not successful and game over
Unfortunetly some scores for the earlier games were not available
