The final was played between two great players, John Goddard who is arguably the best player in W.A and David Rankin who has hit the bowling world with a rush since his return from New Zealand, his form in pennants has been spectacular.
Both players squared up in the final of the Club Championship pairs and played a brand of bowls not often seen, John and his partner Gordon King won the title.
And so here we see both players buttering up in the final of the Club Singles Championship.
Time for a couple of coldies and a celebration after a hard days work
---------------------L/R: Dave Rankin, John Goddard and Douggie Eaton
---------
This was going to be a ripper of a game.
Unfortunately it was not ! John was simply too good for David, after 6 ends the score was
7/4 for John and from there on it was all one way traffic with John scoring at will, no matter what the situation it was John Goddard who would end up with the shot.
The score went to 11/5 then blew right out to be 21/6 and finally 25/6.
It is a hard chore to stop John Goddard
because he has every shot in the book on top of his deadly and consistent draw shot.
A player would have to be at the top of his game and that game would have to be as good as John Goddard's game to have a chance of winning,.
The word champion fits John Goddard to a tee.
David Rankin is also a very good player who just could not get into the game this afternoon
and is sure to be in the mix in future Club Championship events
Doug Eaton deserves a mention as the marker, he did a great job and you would have to travel the world three times over to find a better one.
THE SEMI FINALS
John Goddard was a tad to strong for Douggie Eaton in the semi final but it is a credit to have got that far for Doug and then have to take on a player such as John
There are Appleton's everywhere. I am not sure if Peter Appleton is the Big Apple's dad. Anyway
Dave Rankin was a bit too strong for Peter who had just finished a tough game against Hans Ameron and we must say well done to Peter for making it thru to the semi-final.
QUARTER FINALS
John Goddard put paid to any chance of a Dave Appleton victory when he won 21/8.
It was a contest of interest not only because it was a quarter -final and we all know that it takes a bit of doing to get that far in a club singles championship but the other area of interest is the Big Apple leads for John in the Premier League and had been doing a great job most saturday's.
Doug Eaton got hold of Gordon King by a fair margin and now he, like all before him have to take on the red hot favourite John Goddard, to win here for Doug will take quite some doing.
Dave Rankin had a very hard game against his saturday rink mate Rob Lawrence and just got there by three shots wining 21/18.
Dave will play Peter Appleton who won a great contest against Hans Ameron 21/20

I do apologize for not having the scores up for the Osborne Park Singles. Unfortunately I thought they were penciled in to start on the 15th February. They were to start on the 1st of Feb and did so.
Sherro misses out on playing in the Osborne Park Club Singles Championship. This is the first time I have missed on playing in the club singles ever
After enquiring we find the main sheet has been disposed of and I have no way of knowing who played who in the earlier games to update the table chart
However we do see that the favourite for the event John Goddard had a comfortable win against Ron Francisconi and would be the bookies favourite to win the singles championship
The big Apple Dave Appleton put Pat Caffell out with a convincing win and now has his greatest challenge when he meets John Goddard in his next game.
Gordon King did like wise to Gary Caffell, that score is somewhat a bit of a surprise but of course we can't underrate Gordon who has proved to be a difficult customer to play in any game. Should be an entertaining game against Dougie Eaton
Doug Eaton is a bit of a smoky here and he should be after disposing of the Miracle man Dante Mariani and he is sure to give it all he has got against Gordon King
Dave Rankin has had an easy win over Wings Evans and he would be the second favourite and will play his rink mate Rob Lawrence and that could be a good game
-----------------
Rob Lawrence is having a great year and it would have been a hard job to put Fred Di Guiseppe down for the count and with that mission accomplished he will play Dave Rankin next
There is no form guide here for Hans Ameron or Peter Appleton but who ever wins has the daunting task of playing either Dave Rankin or Rob Lawrence
