PREVIEW - ROUND FIFTEEN
REVIEW ROUND 15
With three games left to go the race for the top and bottom four is on in earnest and there are a couple of clubs that may still finish in either four.
.
Makes for an interesting season eh!!!!
MORLEY 55 (1) V MOSMAN PARK 87 (7)
Mossies won the prize and are now six points clear atop the ladder – well done Mossies.
What of Morley ? – The Big Pom did the business with his rink finishing 14 shots the better over Brad Ball – well done Pom – still that was all she wrote for The Mavericks and the other three rinks went the way of the visitors in rather definite fashion.
Lester’s boys gave JA and his lads a good shakeup running out 16 shot winners at the final bell – Rags Rainoldi provided some serious competition to Robbie Urquhart getting home by 23 shots – that left Steve Withers and his rink to outscore Wayne Neilson by 7.
John "Rags Rainoldi was 3 down on a more than full length end. The Jack was about a foot off the ditch He drew within an inch of the jack to win the end with this bowl
----------------------
John Rainoldi is still a champion bowler, he could easily play in the State side if he wasnt under duress with a knee injury. A truly magnificent competitor and player.
The final difference of 32 shots made some kind of statement by the new ladder leaders – one must believe now that Mosman Park is finally headed for Red Division.
Next week Morley travel to Thornlie and Mosman Park host Bedford
STIRLING 65 (2) V OSBORNE PARK 82 (6)
The OL’ Troupers made the running in emphatic fashion at Balcatta on Saturday. Young Duggie Eaton and Rance D put on a great show setting up a stylish win over the Carpet Kings.
Rance finished 16 shots the better over Tony Krajancic and Young Duggie came home 12 shots the better over Mark Pasalich – never an easy man to beat. The performance of these two rinks proved to be the difference in an important game for both clubs.
Tommy Norac got up by 3 shots in a tight affair over the Edwards Led rink and Nifty Stevens was up by 8 over Keith Guelfi.
Stirling kept a hold on third spot and The Saints have given themselves a little breathing space in fourth spot.
This was a good win for the visitors as Stirling have been difficult to account for at home – still bowls is a funny game and shit happens quite often.
Next week Stirling travel to Hilton Park and Osborne Park are at home to Wanneroo – two very interesting clashes with clubs at opposite ends of the ladder.
WANNEROO 93 (6) v THORNLIE 84 (2)
Yes you’re right it was the “Echo and Shagger show” on Saturday.
Widermanski’s rink gave McKenzie and his lads a bowling lesson getting the big bloke by 16 shots and setting the tone for The Roos to follow. Shagger Parmenter did what has been tough to do all year and got up over Bubbles Vaughan by 8 shots.
Thornlies other two rinks performed well with Tricky Ricky Gilbert getting Doug Watson by 7 shots and Pohe and his boys finishing 8 shots the better over Mr. Knight.
Both clubs needed the win for different reasons and Thornlie went out there quietly confident of a good showing – still all credit to the locals who handled the good paced tiff green a little better than some of the visitors. I believe the big fella is looking for a sharp knife for some kind of throat cutting exercise – as his rink has proved a little too costly for the Ravens in recent weeks.
The win has provided a little hope of the Roos avoiding relegation and the next few weeks will determine their fortunes for the year.
Next week Wanneroo travel to Osborne Park and Thornlie are at home to Morley.
MELVILLE 79 (1) V HILTON PARK 90 (7)
Say what you like about Melville – they just need a couple more like Marvelous Mal – yes his rink did the business again finishing the day 12 shots clear of Travis Simpson. However that was to be the only highlight for The Magic’s reel.
Chris McMahon finished 5 shots the better over Nifty Brierley – Clarke 3 shots ahead of Steve Hughes whilst Dan Slade had a big 15 shot win over the Fewings led rink.
It has been a tough year for Melville and one cannot help feeling their disappointment – still there are a few games to go and Melville has a reasonable run home so they still have some hope.
Hilton on the other hand has been competitive on many occasions and would be hoping to finish higher than seventh spot to provide their club with another year in White.
Next week Melville travel to Leeming for a “must win match” and Hilton Park host Stirling.
BEDFORD 89 (7) V LEEMING 73 (1)
Bedford would be very happy with their weekends work with the win moving them into 5th spot on the ladder.
Cliff Graybrook led the way as usual with an 8 shot win over Gary Ford – The Hunter clan got the better of the Clayton led rink by 4 shots – with Neil Watson finishing 9 shots ahead of Tom Glendinning.
The only highlight for The Lions came courtesy of the Bartlett led rink who got up by 5 shots over Radford.
The Bulls provided a solid performance and have outperformed the early tipsters to be well up the ladder this season – well done Bedford.
Next week Bedford visit Mosman Park and Leeming host Melville (can the Lions win another one?)
SUMMARY
Is the top four set or do Bedford and Thornlie still have a chance to book a seat in the finals?
With just 6.5 points separating sixth from eighth spot there could be some very interesting scenarios. Wanneroo and Hilton both have the opportunity to save White – could Thornlie end up with two Blues next year? – Gee we will all have to wait and see wont we.
What can be said is that wins are taking on a whole new importance and with just three games to go, this season is far from over for a few clubs.
I gotta a tip from Walshy the other day “don’t forget to take some GRASS” – could have done with some on Saturday mate.
ah to all and enjoy your weekend off
