REPORT ON ‘ONE WHITE’ 2008 /9
PREVIEW
ROUND ELEVEN
Mossies back in the winners circle – Morley welcome back Urquart with a solid win – The Carpet Kings get up on Bedford grass – Thornlie work some Magic of their own and Leeming almost fashion win number one – down by just 3 shots.
LEEMING 80 (2) V HILTON PARK 83 (6)
Andy has said the Leeming will win before this season is over and it almost happened Saturday.
Hilton must thank Dan Slade for his rinks great performance, recording a 23 shot win over Webber and his team. Hilton needed this entire margin to go home with the aggregate by just three shots.
Simpson got up by a solitary shot against Ford to gather HP’s only other point – whilst Leeming’s Bartlett and Parker both recorded solid wins over McMahon and Ball.
Not sure who is to be congratulated here however well done to the winners and better luck next time for the Lions.
This win provides a little breathing space for the Hilton mob who are now half a point outside the dreaded RZ
Next week Hilton host Mosman Park and Leeming are at home to Thornlie.
MOSMAN PARK 91 (7) V OSBORNE PARK 67 (1)
This match promised a lot and only really delivered for the ladder leaders. Seven points would be quite an acceptable day’s work for the home side. The only highlight for the Saints reel came courtesy of Young Duggie Eaton who got up by a solitary point over Rags Rainoldi.
------------------Jarrad Rainoldi taking a breather in the State Triples
------------------
As for the rest Mossies were just too good. Steve Withers shook up the Edwards rink in a tight one 19/11 – Lester Mortimer handed out the treatment to Keith Guelfi in their 26/15 encounter – whilst Brad Ball got the better of Rance D with their scoreboard reading 24/18 at the final bell.
Mosman Park back in the winners circle following a couple of losses and The Saints would have been a little disappointed with their days work following some great recent showings.
Mossies are on top by 1.5 points and The Saints slip out of the four by the smallest of percentage – just 0.8% out of the four.
Next week Mosman Park travel to Hilton and Osborne Park play host to Morley (this should be a great game with much riding on the results for both clubs)
THORNLIE 100 (7) V MELVILLE 57 (1)
In the preview of this match – it was suggested the visitor’s fortunes settled firmly with the skill of Marvelous Mal and Steve Hughes.
Well Steve delivered providing a little highlight for the Magic with a win over Paul Pohe 20/16 – however that was all she wrote for the visitors.
Marvelous Mal and his merry men started well against the Big Fella (who has been a little off colour lately, maybe something to do with his crappy hairdo) anyway the game started very competitively with the score at 9 all – from there on it just got a little tough for the visitors with the home rink running out comfortably 31/15 winners.
Tricky Ricky who was very well supported by Murray White, The Ghost Who Walks and Buddah showed a clean pair of heels to the Fewings led rink creating a big 17 shot margin – with the score board reading 28/11 on the 21st end.
That left the left hander, Bubbles Vaughan and his charges to tidy up for the seventh point and in doing so racked up a score of 25/11 over Alan Keating. This has been the Ravens best rink this year and we hope they continue to play and score well on the run home – well done Petch, Terry Mack and Two Cocks.
In all a very satisfying day for the home team and the points were desperately needed to say the least.
Next week
Thornlie travel to Leeming and Melville visit Stirling –
both interesting games as Thornlie are yet to win away from home and The Magic would love some more points from next weeks outing.
BEDFORD 73 (1) V STIRLING 77 (7)
This was a match of two rinks Mark Pasalich who recorded a great win for the Carpet Kings 31/10 and evergreen Cliff Graybrook who won by just a little more over Nifty Stevens 31/8.
Both of these toilers did their level best for their respective clubs and in a four shot outcome both are to be congratulated for huge wins.
On the other rinks Paul Hunter fell just three shots short of victory with Tony Krajancic winning a close one 16/13
Alan Erceg won the other match (I assume) over Kevin Bourke 22/19.
All wins are good wins and to win on the road is always a bonus so Stirling would be happy with their days work and will set out next week to consolidate their third place on the ladder.
Next week
Bedford travel to Wanneroo and Stirling host Melville.
MORLEY 88 (7) V WANNEROO 61 (1)
Morley welcomed back Robbie Urquart who was handed the troubled rink of Sherro, Robbie with an amazing turn of fortunes – they won and won well with the final score being 24/11 over Derek Bowen – I’m certain the Mavericks are happy Rob is back.
Back after injury was Wayne Neilson and he and his boys returned a solid 23/17 win over Doug Watson.
The Big Pom also having a reasonable year gave it to Echo W by 10 shots 23/13 – that left Shagger Parmenter to provide the only Wanneroo highlight for the day with hard fought 20/18 win over the reliable John Armstrong – who is never very far from the winners circle.
What a difference a couple of quality bowlers can make to a sixteen. Morley just 1.5 points from the top spot have signaled the threat to the rest and I’m certain their eyes are fixed on top spot and auto promotion to RED. It will be an interesting race between Mossies and Morley as to who gets to position number one at the conclusion of round 18.
Next week
Morley visit Osborne Park and Wanneroo host Bedford.
SUMMARY
Results were fairly predictable this week and most went as one expected – however the remaining seven rounds throw up some very interesting encounters and there is still plenty for most clubs to play hard for.
Keep ‘em close and practice hard –Tarah and good bowling to all.
