Therese Hastings and Kerry Anderson, the two best players in the event and ready to go. Both were impressive on their way to the final. Who was going to win ?

The smart money said Therese was the most likely based on her previous history, Therese has been a prolific winner of Singles type events and was the defending champ and also as recently as last week she had skipperred a hot side to win the Travelex Open fours in N.S.W. as well as R/U in the Aus Indoor setsplay about a month ago
Shackleton bowler Kerry Anderson had other ideas and was not about to let this opportunity pass her by.
They got away well but it was Kerry who put the foot down to career away to what would seem like a match winning break to lead 60/40 on the 10th end then apply more pressure to lead 72/48 on the 12th end and was a lot closer to 120 than Therese
Well I guess we saw why Therese Hastings is such a champion of the game, with such a huge deficit there was only one thing to do and therese did just that.
She come roaring back into the game that by the 20th end she led 104/96 and looked set to win.

Well this is why Lawn bowls is such a great game because Kerry came back hard with some quality bowls to regain the lead at 113/107. What a comeback.

The pressure was right on with another good end (the second last) and we saw Kerry leading 116/114, there plenty of pressure bowls played on this end.

The last end saw some nerves in play because both Ladies put a bowl in the ditch on the draw. It all came down to Therese playing the last bowl (she was 5/5) and if she could draw (there was room to do so) or rest the jack-hi bowls of Kerry the game would go to Therese.

With everything depending on this one bowl Therese fell short( about a metre) to lose a great game 121/119.
Kerry Anderson is the new champion and a very deserving one indeed.

Therese Hastings lost the final by just two shots is a brilliant player who has had an extremely good year showed her fighting qualities coming back from a huge deficit to almost take the title
