MANY THANKS TO JOHN COTTIER FOR THESE SCORES

The day started out with most of us wondering who would win the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles

Thomas Mitchell full of concentration following his delivery while Clive is in anticipation of where Thomas's bowl is going to finish
--------------

The remaining last four players were in the top 6/8 bracket of who the best singles players are here in the West.

Could young Thomas Mitchell go back to back, he had such good credentials with several outstanding performances over the past 12 months in other events.

Clive Adams has to be the most consistent player over the last decade in singles type play. To mention his record is simply too long to do it here. A previous runner up in this event will do for starters.

Trystan Smallacombe has been an every where man when it comes to singles play, without doubt he will be remembered for the consistency and quality of the way he plays the game in singles play, in this series he was brilliant in making the final four

Daniel Trewhella is a gun, Daniel plays different and shows the bowling world there is more than one way to skin a cat. His win in the 2007 Mt Lawley Consistency Singles will forever live in my mind, the almost the perfect game played by any player in any event

WOW !! with the final four standard being as high as this group presents, I wonder what the odds would be from the TAB. really this is one time you would not want to be a bookmaker

So it goes.... Thomas Mitchell remains the king, a great achievement by him to become a back to back winner of the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles Championship.

This is only the third time such a remarkable feat has been achieved, The best of them all in this event, the late and great John Caffell was one and the other is Geoff Elliss, the great Wanneroo player.
(thanks Ken Provost) To have Thomas Mitchell's name along side those two magnificent bowlers is indeed an accomplishment of huge proportions.

In an outstanding display today Thomas defeated Clive " The Wanneroo Wizard" in the most difficult of conditions, wind that was so strong and fishtailing at times, rain that was a curse to be a nuisance to distract ones attention. Last but not least, very very cold. Thomas played in a short sleeved shirt through out.

Lets just say the game was always close, the scores reflect that. The bowls were sensational in these conditions, and the standard was so high, many would be battling to get them this close in good conditions.

There was a difference between both player, Thomas played the narrow hand which was at best 2ft wide of Centre line, Clive played the wide hand which was 4ft off center line... Matter it did not !!~

Clive seemed to be the man going downwind on the wider hand. Thomas seemed to be better going up wind on the narrow hand.
The end that mattered most was the last end and that was going into the wind, the end and direction that Thomas was king and that is the way it went, Thomas needing 3 to win Clive needing 8 to win, game over.

Thomas getting the score and result to retain his title and catapult him into another stratosphere, confirming his elevation into the best four player here in the West.
Clive Adams is a credit + plus to this sport, to lose this final was to me, no loss at all, you are all ready a Champion Clive Adams !

SEMI-FINALS

Clive Adams 136 defeated Daniel Trewhella 81
Quite a compehensive victory for Clive to defeat Daniel Trewhella by such a margin. It is true that the wind was terribly hard to come to terms with but as always it is the one who can come to terms with whatever the conditions first will normally win and in this case it was Clive.
None the less it was a case of well done to Daniel to once again put himself in contention to win the title and as we always say: it's on again next year and there is little doubt that at sometime in the future we will see his name on the shield again

Thomas Mitchell 133 defeated Trystan Smallacombe127
This was a close game as the scores do indicate. Sherro did not see this game but it is a huge credit to both players when the game was decided on the last end.
Trystan Smallacombe reinforced what a tremendous player he is and to be only one end off playing in the final is testament to his skill.
