MANY THANKS TO DAVID CROFT FOR THESE SCORES

The new Mt Lawley consistency Singles Champion is Thomas Mitchell who played a very good game to smash the Jones Boy.

I had not seen Thomas play on the Sunday but the word around was his game was on song. This morning he was in great form with a very good victory against James Jaworski. The Jones Boy was also in great touch with his comfortable win against Trystan Smallacombe.

Incidentley back in 2004 when The Jones Boy was runner up to Trystan he put Clive Adams and kyle out that year, same thing this year

This by all accounts was going to be a cracker of a game. Just before the start I asked Prickles Thorn who did he fancy, Thomas he replied and explained the reasons why and he was right on the money.

Myself having seen The Jones Boy playing against Kyle McIlroy and Trystan Smallacombe I could not see him getting beaten

The game started out with both players feeling the green for the first 5 ends, the standard wasn't up to what they had both been playing.
From the 5th end onward it was Thomas who found his touch to be consistently around the jack while the Jones Boy was lost with several bad bowls. Either to long or to short or to wide. Hard to believe after seeing his outstanding display against Kyle McIlroy the day before in the most difficult of conditions.

However when The Jones Boy did have some good ends Thomas was always there with him, it was a rare event to see Thomas a long way from the jack.
From the 5th end it was a procession really from this point on the scores went
27/23, 46/34, 61/39, 75/45, 90/60, to end up 150/86.

Thomas Mitchell played very well and is a worthy champion indeed. The Jones Boy never fired and was never in the contest from end 5 to finish runner up for the second time

The semi-final between Thomas Mitchell never reached the height as we might have expected with a huge scoreline in favour of Thomas. He won 133/86.

This the fifth time James has finished in the semi-finals of a major event.

The other semi between the Jones Boy and Trystan Smallacombe was a hard fought affair with plenty of close bowls but The Jone Boy on many occasions got inside of Trystans close bowls forcing Trystan to drive quite often.
The scoreline here was 130/86
