Well done to the Morley Bowling Club for its running of one of the great events here in W.A "The best of the West" Singles sets play . They had a classy field when you look at the players competing.

Eddy Dodd the Country week Singles champ, Ross Dempsey the Sorrento Master singles champ, Daniel Trewhella the Mt Lawley Consistency champ, David Opie 2007 State Singles Champion along with Bill Galloway who runner up to David, Kyle McIlroy won the Champion of Club Singles Championship.
Nolene Abe is a State Lady skipper and has done the job with distinction while Kelli Wray won the ladies State singles title in 2007

The final was between Ross Dempsey and Kelli wray. Could Kelli become the first lady bowler to win the prestigious Best of the West sets play title ?, Kelli has some good form going into the final beating Bill Galloway and Kyle McIlroy who are no slouches, to win her section
This was a hard task for her because Ross played particularly well, his line was very good and weight also very good. In the first set Ross won 10/3 by always being closer to the jack and that was often.

The second set was again a hard task even tho Kelli fought tooth and nail with some brilliant shots through the head it was Ross Dempsey who would draw the shot where ever it went after Kelli's shot play, or he would convert a down situation.
Ross was outstanding this evening, his consistency was so good and over all he had few bad bowls,
It would be fair to say that Kelli's bowls were more wind affected than Ross's bowls were. Kelli showed that she has a fine through the head shot.

Kelli on most occasions rolled the jack, tactically Kelli could have varied the length more than she did,
None the less, it was a credit to her on making the final.
