David Croft (pictured) the man who does a first class job of running the
event along with his many helpers for this annual tournament.

If there could be a better game regarding consistency and scoring 4,3,2,1
for an end than that played at Mt Lawley in the consistency I havent seen
it yet.
Last year was brilliant but this was better.
The pressure that was applied with the shot changing so many times on any
end was something I never seen acheived so often and done with such skill.
Neither player was safe at any time no matter how close to the jack or how
many shots they might have held because the conversion rate by both players
was unbeleivable.
The game took 32 ends to play, it was the first to score 150, wins the game.
Pieter seemed to just have the measure of Rhett Butler thru the game and
one of the reasons might have been that when Rhett won an end he gave Pieter
the mat and Pieter would promptly put his first bowl ever so close. I guess
that Rhett was banking on his brilliant shot play and to a point it was working
then stopped working for him

-----------------------L/R: Pieter Harris --Rhett Butler
After 20 ends had been played the score was 102/98 in favour of Pieter Harris
and from there he kicked away to hold a comfortable lead 118/102, then more
pressure was applied to see Pieter lead 136/114, it was during this period
that the great shot play and conversion rate stopped working for Rhett.
Most thought it was over with only 14 shots required for Pete. Then in a blink
of the eye Rhett scored 6,10,9 on the next three ends, these were sensational
ends from both players I might add.
The score now was 141/139. Pieter Harris had not stopped playing the brilliant
game he had been playing, it was Rhett Butler producing some real magic.
with the score at 147/143 and looking like the last end
Rhett took the shot away from Pieter who was holding two very close shots and
then held the game. Pieter managed to produce the goods with another amazing
conversion to make it a draw at 150 each on end 30. The crowd was on their
toes as the tension was very high.
Both players responded with fantastic bowls and drew 5 all on the next end.
(31) then Pieter Harris was looking the goods with brilliant bowls and sitting
on the jack, Rhett Butler, with one bowl left to play and looking down the
barrel played an amazing bowl to convert the head with a yard over
weight to convert a hopeless postion to 6/4 for the end to win 161/159.

Day 5
Semi Finals;
Rhett Butler 122 b Kyle McIlroy 104;
Kyle McIlroy had a very good series and appears to have regained the form of
2004 with some telling victories in the event and we can expect to see him feature
very prominently in up coming events based on the form he has shown in this
event
Pieter Harris 124 b Bruce Urquhart 116.
Bruce Urquhart has made the semi-finals of this event 3 of the four times he
has entered since coming back from Geraldton which also includes a win in 2003.
He was outstanding in his game against Pieter Harris and as the score shows there
was nothing in it. Bruce will be on board the plane to go to Tasmania in February
with the State Side.
FINAL
R Butler 161 b P Harris 159.
