I fully support Pat's and his Club's point of view, however I would like to preface my comments that they are my personal views and as such have not as yet been discussed or endorsed by the Directors of my Club.

Firstly I have met Pam, and was extremely impressed by her open manner and desire to further our sport.

I believe that she is a dedicated and sincere administator who has a lot to offer our bowls.

HOWEVER in her position, she is the messenger who is attempting to follow the directions of the Bowlswa executive and council and it is to these bodies (who some say represent us the bowlers in general) that we should be directing our comments and thoughts.

No mention has been made as to the feelings of the largest shareholders in our sport, the Local City and shire councils who have spent many millions of ratepayers funds to provide our facilities. I have been told of one League who are considering enlisting the support of their local council to resist this move.

In the case of our League, the City of Mandurah are in the process of investing in excess of Seven million dollars into what will be the best bowling facility in Western Australia (included is an indoor green.) This will not only assist the Mandurah Club but the overflow generated by this will benefit all clubs in our league.

I am sure that Mandurah City council will not be impressed if their ratepayers have to pay a franchise fee to Bowlswa simply to try out an activity for a four or five week period.

I believe that Bowlswa should take a step back and revisit this situation as their perceived hard line approach is, as this site bears witness. breeds discontent and distrust amongst our rank and file members.

There must be middle ground apon which we can all agree and further the promotion of our great sport.
