Sherro,
I read with interest the article from Jim McKenzie relating to the over 60s and composite teams. For some time I have personally believed that the playing of composite teams has affected the standing of the State and Masters events and hence their "attendance".
The South Perth club in an effort to encourage teams to play in such events, agreed to pay nomination fees for all members who wished to play - given that the team was a purely club side.
In addition only South Perth teams/players will be acknowledged on our Honour Board as winners of State or Master titles if they played in club sides. Players who achive such titles in composite sides are not so recognised.
This maybe seen as draconian but we believe it maintains the original integrity of the event(s) and certainly the encouragement of our members to build the profile of our club.
(We just need to win something to support our stance !)
