Re your posting before the State pairs :
If the temperature is forecast to be 40 c at 8 a.m, then play will be suspended.
On the second day the forecast WAS 40 c. As I was still playing I assumed play would be suspended. It was only after a phone call to the club at which I was to play that I was informed that I still had to attend the venue.
I would point out now that I was more than willing to play. But I must admit to being absolutely confused. If BowlsWA issue a statement regarding the heat rule how can that statement be over ruled by a person in control of the event at his venue ?
I ask this question because the long range forecast for the start of the State singles is 40 c and I will say again I am more than happy to play.
If there has been a change of heart regarding the heat rule I think it is incumbent on BowlsWA to clarify the situation, and to post on the internet that change post haste !
It would also be advisable to point out that it is BowlsWA who make the decision and NOT the controller at ANY venue. This would alleviate any misunderstanding about having to attend the venue, and thus being forfeited for non attendance.
As a footnote, I played in my clubs championship pairs on Sunday afternoon... temperature ?? 42.9.. and not one complaint from those also playing !!!!!
I urge those responsible to make it quite clear.. we play.. or we do not !! Confusion can then be avoided.
Regards,
John Sheridan.
p.s.. I am damn near 65.
