ONE WHITE REVIEW ROUND SEVEN 19/12 /05
December 19, 2005
Kalamunda V Kardinya
Kardinya blew a great opportunity to be sitting on top of the table
when they were unable to take advantage on their home greens in what I thought
to be a shock loss to Kalamunda on Saturday. It turned out to be a costly result
as Kardinya are now sitting precariously in fifth position. Neil Payne, Neale
Griffin and Billy Brandsma all recorded narrow victories for the boys from
the hills with Rick Eddy the only casualty with a narrow loss to the strong
and undefeated Tony Cocodis.
Gosnells V Scarborough
I put the kiss of death on Scarborough by talking
them up last week. In a result that the beach boys would be disappointed with
the Scarborough team
travelled to Gosnells and were comprehensively thumped to the tune of 31 shots.
The only shining light for Scarborough was Geoff White’s narrow rink
win over Michael Yates. Gosnells have now strung together 4 wins and will be
confident of holding their place in the top 4 as the halfway mark of the season
approaches.
North Beach V Warwick
My premiership tip North Beach did enough when they hosted Warwick
on Saturday to ensure that they secured the major share of points. Merv Potter
and Graham
Devenish led the way with solid wins while veteran skippers Derek Bowen of
North Beach and John Mather of Warwick played out a tight 17 all draw. North
Beach will be at home to Gosnells when play resumes on January 7th and a win
here will see them in the top 4 for the first time this season. Once North
Beach is there they will be hard to budge.
Safety Bay V Morley
Morley, Morley, Morley what are you
doing??? Your third 8-0 defeat for the season. I am aware that it is difficult
down at Safety Bay but to lose by a
half century of shots again must have your selectors pulling their hair out.
On a positive note well done so far this season to the boys from down south.
If someone would have offered you the option of second position at the Christmas
break you would have jumped at it. A big chance for Safety Bay to firmly strengthen
their top 4 position when they play Innaloo in round 8. Morley has the task
of facing Warwick after Christmas.
Thornlie V Innaloo
As expected Thornlie were far too good for
Innaloo winning by a massive 81 shots. I can’t see Innaloo taking an
aggregate this season.
Well as we have a three week break we see only 10 points
separating 1st and 8th spots. High achievers after 7 rounds are Warwick and
Safety Bay. Disappointments
to date are Thornlie, Morley and Kempy who has only picked 22 winners from
a 35 matches.
I would like to wish all bowlers a safe and happy festive season
and I look forward to seeing how the season pans out in 2006.
Kempy picked 3
winners in round 7.
Tips for Round 8:
North Beach, Scarborough, Warwick, Safety Bay, Kalamunda
