April 21, 2009

Well it is Rosenthal Medal time again and we see two players in contention for the Medal, John Goddard and Scotty Edmonds

Who will win the Medal ?

Because the bowling public are not privy to the voting formula it is not clear as to who will win the 2009 Rosenthal Medal.

I would like to see transparency for the Medal and have written on this subject previously and encourage BowlsWA to release their points formula, there is no need for secrecy or surprise on BowlsWA award night.

However we can try to assess who will win the award so let’s see if we can track down the winner

JOHN GODDARD 50 points

John has had another outstanding season. Not only has he excelled in the events he won that qualify him to win the Rosenthal Medal, he skippered a rink for W.A for the first time this season losing just one game in the series held at Tuggeranong in the A.C.T. It was an outstanding effort by John and his team
He was won his Club's Singles and Pairs titles, was also the runner in the Morley Best of the West singles tournament capping off a truly magnificent year for John

Provided a superb  effort in the State events held in January when he won the State Pairs, was runner up in the State Singles and made the semi finals of the State Triples. He was all class as he powered his way toward the top in these events

Those who saw the Pairs final and his other games on the same day could not help but be impressed with the poise and control he displayed winning against quality opposition
Scotty Edmonds also won his Club singles Championship then made it to the semi-finals of the Champion of Club Champion singles and was beaten by the man who could be the the 2009 Rosenthal Medallist, John Goddard.
