Pennantscene 2008/9

Pennants are on again soon and we have three contenders for the flag they being Doubleview,Cambridge and Victoria Park, these sides have 15 of the 24 State squad members in their teams

The other nine members of the 24 man squad are:
Cockburn have (2), Yokine (1), Sth Perth has (1), Osborne Pk (3) Wanneroo (2)..

Two clubs are without representation, Kalamunda, Dalkeith, as we can see there is a heavy concentration of players in the top sides who finished in the four last season

For me and I guess most bowls watchers, it is a race of three, DV, CAM and VP, one of these 3 clubs will win the Premiership for season 2008/9

You could throw a blanket over Yokine, Sth Perth, Wanneroo, Osborne Pk, Cockburn and Dalkeith to see who will finish in the fourth spot to compete in the finals. Kalamunda will be demoted

Initially I thought it would be a boring competition in the Premier League but with such eveness among the clubs vying for the fourth spot it will be enough to keep the interest going.
I don't have the starting 16 of any of the other 9 sides to make a comment on them other than Doubleview who announced their 16 last friday

One White and both Blues are very interesting competitions because we don't know how good the sides are with six of them being replaced in the new format.

I think is great because it spreads the game around which is healthy with interest being retained for the most part of the season
