PLAYED AT YOKINE

---------John "Guts" Goddard lining up for a drive in the final
--------

Osborne Park's John Goddard is the new Champion of Club Champion singles Champions after his outstanding performance in the final against Bassendean's Justin Opie. This is John's first success in this event winning 25/8
Both have been previous State Singles winners
On his way thru to the final John played another former State singles winner Ron Kuziela from Scarborough, R. Sloan, and the recent State Singles runner up Scott Edmonds.
John "Guts" Goddard has had a magic year, winning the State Fours, the Doubleview Master Pairs and now the Champion of Club Champion singles Champions.
This win will now put him in contention to win the Rosenthal Medal for the best performed player for season 2008/9
The game itself was a beauty for John who never gave Justin an inch. The score shows a considerable margin between the winner and the loser but Justin Opie bowled far better that the score board margin shows
John Goddard displayed all the features of the game that could be displayed. He drove and drew to almost perfection. On many occasions he would get shot with his last bowl and it was he who had last bowl for the majority of the game.
Not much Justin could do against a Champion playing at his best, he could leave Yokine knowing that no one else could have stopped John Goddard from winning the Champion of Club Champion singles Championship today
No matter what the position Justin held during the game John Goddard held the whip hand to cruise to a superb win.
The score went 5/1, 8/1, 10/1, 13/1, 13/2, 14/2, 17/2, 17/4,19/4, 20/4, 21/4, 21/5, 21/8, 23/8, 25/8.
