Preview One Blue South Round FOURTEEN
Saturday’s results showed how close it is at the top of the table, the six top sides played each other to try and stamp some authority on the table, following the round the top five spots are separated by only 11 points, this weeks games will not provide a clear leader unless the bottom sides cause some upsets.
Hilton Park proved again as in the first round to be Rockingham’s nemesis picking up six points, Osborne Park were too strong for Manning to the tune of 28 shots 7/1 result.
Spearwood hosted Vic Park to record a 28 shot 6/2 result to make up for the first round trouncing they received at the Red’s home ground. Midland Morrison won over Melville and finally in the bottom of the table game Byford triumphed over Safety Bay.
Hilton Park v Spearwood
Hilton Park return home triumphant over Rockingham picking up seven points on the way, the Hilton side have now won five on end to set up their season, they will take on Spearwood for the game of the day.

The Blue and Whites now sit on top of the table but only 3½ points separates these two sides. For the Park the rinks of Travis Simpson, Brad Ball and David Opie continue to dominate, for the visitors.
Boris Yakas Spearwood (pictured below) Been the mainstay for Spearwood over the years and still playing a leading role for the club
Boris Yakas is the stand out, he gets good support from Tonko Fiamengo and Ken Nadilo, this will be a close tussle in the first round Spearwood were clear winners by 26 shots.
In the return match this will be much closer, the Park have the opportunity to grab top of the table while the Blue and Whites can consolidate at the top of the table, the sides are evenly matched and these encounters have always provided much interest over the years,
this result will be an upset with Spearwood taking home the points 6 / 2.
Vic Park v Osborne Park
Vic Park will host Osborne Park, the Reds travelled to Spearwood last weekend and came away with 2 points, any slip up now will place them in danger and possible relegation, while the visitors Osborne Park have timed their run to the end of the season with a excellent win over Manning last week picking up seven points and wining by over 25 shots to dominate the ladder leaders.
This game will take on equal game of the day, both sides have a lot to lose, Vic Park face relegation should they lose, while Osborne Park will be eyeing of top of the table and a no risk promotion to One White, for the Reds home ground advantage will play a big part, they didn’t enjoy the Spearwood greens but at home they are a different prospect.
Expect a significant improvement, last week Rod Volich played very well against Ken Nadilo to take a point and Geoff Keitel similarly played well to take a valuable point, the other rinks will have to contribute.

For Osborne Park Keith Guelfi and Rance Dewson are the stand outs they provide a stable platform for the Osb Park side, this game will be not be decided until the closing stages both sides will go all out to take out maximum points, in the first round Osb Park were easy winners to the tune of 26 shots to take away seven points,
the result this time around will be Vic Park 6 / 2.
Melville v Rockingham
Melville still have a hope of avoiding relegation they will host Rockingham, the Rocky boys have now lost four on end, a month and half ago they were the ‘Rockingham Express’ steaming towards promotion, now they could be the off the rails and running out of steam; the brains trust will be working overtime this week to pick a side that will bring some much needed points.
Rockingham are still within striking distance of the top spot, six or seven points from this game will re-stoke the boiler and get some traction, Rocky will be aware a number of their last games will be against top four sides, this game is a must win for them.
Melville will also be acutely aware their last few games are also against top sides, this game is equally important to the Magic, this will be one of the games of the round,
the result will be Rockingham to stop the slump 6 / 2.
Safety Bay v Midland Morrison
Safety Bay at home will host Midland Morrison, the Bay lost to Byford in an even game while Midland won convincingly against Melville, the Midland side will look to further their cause and evade relegation in this game, the Ray Patterson rink is in great form together with Ben Marino the visitors will be keen to upset a struggling Safety Bay who have a consistent contributor in the form of Michael St Jack and his rink but they lack support.
Against a determined Midland side strengthened by Steve Wattleworth the visitors are only 3 points behind Vic Park this game will have a big bearing on Midland’s survival in One Blue,
the result will be Midland Morrison 6 / 2.
Manning v Byford
Manning return home picking up a solitary point against Osborne Park in the process they conceded the top of the table position, Byford on the other hand will be quite happy with their lot accounting for Safety Bay last weekend.
For the Eagles this game takes on major importance their next few games will not be easy, they will be out for maximum return in this encounter; against Osborne Park Milan Jokic had a quite game with Bill Pengilly providing the only points for the day, this time expect more from these players and a possible return of Peter Bowden to strengthen the Eagles, this game will be a bonus for the home side
the result will be Manning Eagles 8 / 0.
