Preview One Blue South Round TEN

The end of the first round delivered some surprises, Midland Morrison upset a confident Vic Park, Manning drew with Hilton Park to remain in second spot on the table.

Osborne Park travelled to Spearwood for their first encounter at this venue.
The Osborne Park players carried out a quiz on the bus to Spearwood to see if any of their side had been to that club, they discovered none of the side had ventured down that way it didn’t help their cause.

Melville easily accounted for Safety Bay and Rockingham carried on with business as usual at the top of the table with a training run against Byford.

Safety Bay v Vic Park

Safety Bay will look forward to home territory to host Vic Park, the Bay lost to Melville on the Magic’s slick greens, on their familiar rug they will test the visitors.
The Park’s loss to Midland Morrison was a surprise and questions will be asked by the selectors, Safety Bay are very much in the danger zone and Vic Park will need to string some victories together to ensure they remain in touch with the ladder leaders.
On the Safety Bay surface in the face of a strong sea breeze the Park will not find the going easy, the Bay beat Hilton a fortnight ago on the carpet, Vic Park could find similar treatment,

The result Safety Bay 6 / 2.

Rockingham v Midland Morrison

Rockingham will host Midland Morrison; the Rocky boys sit very comfortably at the top of the table following their game against the bottom of the table Byford.
The Midland side similarly last outing looked good with a win at the expense of Vic Park, Martin Wattleworth was the fuse that lit the Midland boys, his 37 to 13 set up the home side victory, Midland will need a similar performance to move them out of the relegation zone.
Rockingham appear unstoppable their last loss was in November at Hilton Park, Midland will not trouble the home side as Rockingham strive to open up a handy lead on the rest of the field,

The result will be Rockingham 7 / 1.

Melville v Manning

Melville at home for the second week to take on Manning, the slick Melville greens will not phase the Eagles, Melville will find this side harder than Safety Bay last week.
Melville are 4th from the bottom still looking at relegation, this side needs to string a series of wins together to maximise their chances of survival come seasons end.

Manning played out a hard fought draw with Hilton Park last Saturday, that type of performance underlines the Eagles character a similar performance will keep them in second place a loss will see them lose that position to the baying pack.
Melville will struggle to keep Manning at bay, in the first round Peter Bowden and Milan Jokic stopped the Melville side in its track, this time around the Eagles will fly again,

The result will be Manning 6 / 2.

Hilton Park v Osborne Park

Hilton Park will host Osborne Park for the game of the round, the Hilton boys battled out a hard fought draw against Manning last week, David Opie and Brad Ball again provided the impetus for the home side, while Osborne Park had little joy at their last outing against Spearwood.

The Hilton side will be on their guard to ensure another aggregate doesn’t slip from their grasp, while the Osie Park boys will be all out to ensure two weeks on the road brings some much needed points.
Hilton sit 5th while Osborne Park are half a point in front in 4th, both these sides will be keen to maintain their positions to keep Vic Park at bay, this game is hard to pick in the first round one shot separated the sides this will be a repeat,

The result will be Hilton Park 5 / 3 .

Spearwood v Byford

Ivan UnkovichSpearwood home for the second week to host Byford, the Spearwood side had a good win against a strong Osborne Park side the result was in doubt up to the last few ends; it was a credit to the Park side considering none of the side ever played at Spearwood.

Byford played valiantly against the top of the table Rockingham last week, this outing will be as difficult for the struggling Byford side, Spearwood will be looking for maximum points to edge out Manning in second spot, the conditions will not suit the visitors,

The result will be Spearwood 7 / 1.
