Preview One Blue South Round EIGHT

The last games of 2007 delivered no surprises, although Vic Park had a scare at Byford wining the aggregate by one shot, Spearwood finished strongly over Safety Bay on a difficult day with the easterly breeze.
Hilton Park did as thEy pleased against Melville, Osborne Park proved too strong for Midland Morrison and in the game of the day between the two top sides, Rockingham delivered the Manning Eagles their first loss of the season in a energy sapping encounter.

Where to from here in 2008? Rockingham are the big improvers together with Manning these two will be in the mix for the top spot, Osborne Park, Hilton Park, Vic Park and Spearwood will fight out for the remaining positions, for the remainder the end of the 2008 season can not come soon enough.

Byford v Midland Morrison

Byford will be looking to kick start the new year with a much needed win against Midland Morrison, Byford were narrow losers to Vic Park in the last game of 2007.
Rocket Nash didn’t enjoy his first game skippering last outing, look for a major improvement in that rink. Midland has Ben Marino providing consistent performances the other rinks will need to contribute to make a game of it. This game will bring Midland no joy, Byford will start the New Year with a bang

the result will be Byford 6 / 2.

Osborne Park v Rockingham

The Osy Park boys will start the New Year at home, they rounded of 2007 with a 7 / 1 result against Midland, Osborne Park would be happy with their lot in One Blue South, their One Blue North colleagues are struggling sitting third from the bottom.
The big question for the Park is have they enough fire power to match the top sides? This game will provide that answer, Rockingham are the ladder leaders, for the Park to challenge for the top spot, they will have to beat a inform Rocky side,
Clif GuelfiRockingham have demonstrated they have a even spread of talent across the rinks while the Park have been inconsistent, they have proven performers with Doug Eaton, Rance Dewson and the Guelfi’s they will have to counter the strong rinks of Tony Tuckerman, Bob Costello and Mr Reliable John Lethlean.

Cliff Guelfi Osborne Park (pictured) Has been a terrific player for the Saints for many years

all up this is the game of the round, home ground advantage will help the Park but don’t underestimate the Rocky boys,

The result will be Osborne Park 5 / 3. --
Sherro says 8/0 for the Saints

Vic Park v Melville

Vic Park will host a struggling Melville side to start the New Year off, Vic Park scrapped over the line against Byford at the last outing of 2007, thanks to the Martin rink, while Melville had a game to forget against Hilton Park.
This game will be over by the half way point the Park will set up a unassailable lead and will cruise to the end, the Vic Park side will be far too strong for the visitors,

the result will be Vic Park 7 / 1.

Manning v Spearwood

Manning didn’t finish of 2007 as they would have wished, they would have gone into the last game with thoughts of upsetting Rockingham, as the results show they were soundly beaten across the green to bring back no points.

Spearwood will travel to the Eagles nest to take on Manning following a good performance in the last game against Safety Bay; the visitors find themselves second on the table with Manning just one point behind, this will rival the game of the day, it is a game of high importance for both sides.

Manning boast strong performers with the likes of the motivator Peter Bowden, Bill Pengilly and the cornerstone for the Eagles in Milan Jokic while Spearwood have their best performer in Boris Yakas ably supported by new skipper Ken Nadilo. For Manning to reign supreme they will need to overcome a Spearwood side that is finding some form

the result will be Spearwood in a close encounter 6 / 2.
Sherro goes for the Eagles 6/2

Safety Bay v Hilton Park

Safety Bay returns home following a disappointing game against Spearwood, they will host Hilton Park who picked up the maximum for their last game in 2007.

The Bay is finding the going difficult in this division, they need more out of their front end to help the skippers while Hilton Park are sitting mid table looking at a top three finish and then the finals could be another story.

For Safety Bay none try harder than Michael St Jack and Nev Crocker for Hilton their top performer is David Opie supported by Travis Simpson and Brad Ball, the Bay does not have the depth to match the visitors

the result will be Hilton Park 7 / 1.
